1971 was a 9 months long Pakistani civil war in which India intervened only in the last 13 days.
Fact is, when Pakistan launched Operation Searchlight in March 1971, the Indian general Sam Maneckshaw threatened to resign when he was asked by Indira Gandhi to intervene in the Pakistani civil war.
It is only after 9 months of extremely bloody conflict when the Mukti Bahini had overrun border outposts and the Pakistani army had next to no ammunition that the Indian army intervened and Pakistan army surrendered within 13 days without much resistance.
1971 was a Pakistani civil war where the people's militia defeated a professional army.
This is similar to American independence where the American militia defeated the British army.
So mukhtis took 9 months 🤣 indian army was the only edge plus mukhtis

Indian army entry in the last few days of a 9 minths long civil war was to give a more honorable exit to the Pakistan army. This did happen but was ruthlessly crushed as these movements couldn't get the type of support East Bengal got from India, USSR and other countries.

Indian Army ran over the entire country in 13 days. They surrendered while still having 3 divisions. Their airforce didn't put up a fight. Our navy attacked Karachi twice and destroyed the harbour. The Pakistani navy didn't even try to stop the Indian Navy.

First of all what you are claiming is totally wrong. In 1965 India had Mig 21 all armed with air to air missiles. They took part in war before 6 September and launched two air to air missiles which sabers easily dodged. I am taking about 1965 Ghazi was built in 1944.

Quite a balanced narration of those fateful days.Wondering if strategy was that defence of East Pakistan lay on West Pakistan, why was it not implemented and why no preparations were made accordingly, and counter attack from West Pakistan was not carried out immediately when India attacked East Pakistan on 21st November,71.It is also astonishing that our intelligence agencies like ISI, MI and IB failed to gauge response of East Bengal regiments, East Pakistan Rifles and Police and Bengali personnels of Airforce and Navy which resulted in massive revolt following military operation on the night of 25th March.Most unfortunate and deplorable aspect is that Yahya Khan who President, Commander in Chief didn’t even visit once East Pakistan after March to see for himself situation on the ground and conditions of our troops who were fighting In inhospitable terrain and difficult situation.
