- I had been looking for a TV that meets the requirement for the new-gen console. Finally, found the Xiaomi Redmi MAX 86" is an affordable 86-inch 4K smart TV backlit by full-array LED. (Malaysia price range at RM7k-8k) Depend on the current stocks too.
According to Dasher Malaysia team, I think I m the exceptional person who bought this TV. I m crazy enough to buy this!!!

Hi bro, nice review. I’m a malaysian too like you. I was looking in shopee for a new tv for my new home, and found this giant 86” tv but with a very affordable price. Immediately searched for review but all are in chinese or indian, your video is the only one in english that i can understand 😂👍🏻👍🏻
Btw my main concern is just, is this tv in chinese language by default? Is it easy to change the language to english? I don’t care about not able to use build in apps because i’ll connect this tv to astro, google chromecast android tv or apple tv box anyway.
My purpose of buying this tv will be 70% to watch movies (netflix / disney+ / astro / youtube) and 30% play games (ps5, nintendo switch).

The price of this tv really main consideration n advantages over other. As I mention, if u can afford a higher price , of course can go for big OLED tv.

I know this can never hit black levels like OLED, and OLED is way more expensive, look at the Xiaomi 77" OLED at 17999 RMB that is 2x as expensive.
But the question is, for a 2021 released TV, how are the black levels? I noticed that brands are working hard to get better blacks, so for the price, how good are the blacks?

Hi bro, thanks for the interests and question on this TV. Honestly, you cannot compare to OLED as u mention the price and spec is diff. Therefore you can only can compare apple to apple, whihc is the Full Array LED TV with this model. If you compare to others, i m assure you this will not compare to those u mention. Beside, if this TV is not sitting side by side to another TV. I m sure you can't see lots of different.
For the dark or black level, I m not in the position to provide the accurate information to you. This is personal preference! What i can comment is that , depend on what TV u are using at this moment.... to buy a new TV, its a upgrade or because of new gen console that you need to upgrade? Price is the main important factor and HDMI 2.1 that fit my new gen console, that why i go for this. For year 2021 or 2022, i m sure there will be more new model laucnhing , so you can wait and consider other.
Please advice:
What is the TV base measurement ? (the space between the 2 bases) and also what is length of the TV base?

Nice review mate, I've beeen going crazy looking for a new TV for next gen gaming. I already have a 4k TV but so far this looks the best choice. I wanted an OLED or QLED but to get that AND all the VRR, HDMI 2.1, 120hz AND in a size above 75 inches is difficult on my budget. My only final thought before picking this up is if the jump to OLED or QLED is worth justifying paying the extra
initially i also face the same issue, i had my 4k ready 65" LG tv. To look for a TV that can meet the new gen console requirement and also budget below 7k is really hard. OLED of course is tempting but the price is really at the high side , before that i also looking for the BX entry level of the OLED. Anyhow when i saw this with the price and screen size , especially the HDMI 2.1 that can fulfil my needs. If the TV sitting alone in your home without any comparison of other TV. Actually you dont feel much different of OLED or not ..... is the size that matter. Tom, after few months having this beast, i still very happy with it and gaming experience with 120Hz performance. nice! Tom, where you from ? Currently the price from Dasher got discount from RM6999
size really matter and HDMI 2.1 at least can last you for another few year before you change another new gen TV

@@PorPorChannel I went to the Mi shop yesterday to buy the 86 Max and they told me to wait until tomorrow because they're releasing the new 6 Extreme edition which goes up to 75 inches. I've had a look and the specs on that are reasonably better than the 86 and even more focused on gaming. They said the cost will be roughly 10,000rmb so I'm going for that one.
Really tempting to get Redmi Max 86inch. With the price I am leaning toward this compare to the Sony 85inch. I got 65inch Sony android TV right now and primarily used it at home for my family to enjoy Netflix, Prime and TH-cam for my kids. Is there any issue with the apps. I heard some people say they have an issue with app loading for their TV. Btw, does it come with wall bracket and the if they provide wall installation services?
Well this is depend on your need . I used to owned the LG 65" too , due to the gaming purpose ps5 ... I found this with equip HDMI 2.1 that can fulfil my need. Anyhow, nowaday I also watch more movie then usual because it felt like a home cinema now with the screen size 😁

Great review... I wanted to ask if the picture quality is better than the normal 4k LED TV or no and why Alita movie on the background looks so bad, is it TV or coz of TH-cam?
And This Tv is same for Xiaomi & Redmi coz iam in UAE and here i can see its called Xiaomi TV Max 86...
i think because of the youtube and my video is not in super high res. therefore the quality is different.
There is a switch under the tv next to the turning on tv button. i don't know what is that swtich and what that function for

where you from? the best is get a TVbox or games console to sold this issue ..... if u inssist to install the APK file into the TV, u might need to try and error for the apk version. for example Netflx need to install older version of APK ....... good luck! if u manage to install some good apk , please share with me as well.

hi mate, so far so good.......it has been my gaming companion for ps5 n xbx . few month ago there is firmware update and some of the setting UI has changed. it felt better and smoother.
anyway, i m not sure waht is your expectation on your TV demand. if you higher budget, can go for LG C2 for gaming.

bro, first of all would check with your budget and purpose of the tv. if u have high budget, of course sony will be best choice because of branding wise. i believe that sony will have the spec of hdmi 2.1 and so on ......... other then budget , i dont see why u need to go for redmi tv 86 max.

Does it have hbo go, disney plus and amazon prime? Or only netflix?
As i mention before, this TV don't come with pre install with those APP u mention. So u need to download APK to install yourself or get a TV box. Bear in mind, some APK might not work with the firmware version.
Another solution is to get TVBox!
i am thinking of getting this or a sony / samsung/lg 55/65 inch latest model, so far i prefer sony color science, is the xiaomi color science very different ?

i haven't check on the price on mi75" , but somehow you can't compare with OLED with this. Of course the OLED will be better , if the price budget meet your requirement and most important the size too. Thanks for your compliment too.
Mi75 doesn't have native 120hz so if you're wanting it for next gen gaming I'd say go with this

@@PorPorChannel Yes any Xiaomi/Redmi 86" is not available in EU and never was. I would even take the 60 Hz version. Xiaomi Mi TV Q1 75" for like a 1370$ is the newest and biggest option that I can get. We never get the ES Pro series.

i havent tested the sony , so i couldnt give you any feedback on this. so far, i m happy with this TV and the size and quality so far. Especially gaming for new gen with hdmi 2.1 is not an issue. Movie is also another great enjoyment. Especially i use PS5 netflix to watch 4k movie ..... wowo
Anyhow, if money not a concern - then you should go for sony. Depend on location too, because the in build MiTV app is not fully workable over other countries or region.

@@timlow2010 so far , the netflix dont support 4K due to the version of the apk is quite old. i suggest you want 4K quality, either use your console or get the latest TVbox that support 4K netflix.

I was looking for this TV's review! Seems the price is too good to be true with the specs mentioned on Lazada. Okay compared to Sony x90j 65inch vs RedMi Max 86inch, which one mate? Both ain't OLED though.
I have an Nvidia Shield 2019 Pro + cheapo LG 49 incher though. Really itchy to pull the trigger to get a new display during these MCO 3 times. With Disney+ going and all.
bro if you looking for OLED this isnt the right TV. Since you mention you upgrading your 49" to 65" or even this 86" , that will be ipgrade for you. As for me, i already own LG 65", due to 5 years old set. Another reason is because for PS5 gaming, the requirement to fully enjoy the benefits of HDR10, 120Hz and VRR - those are mostly support on the HDMI 2.1 input. Therefore , my upgrade with the price concern and size concern.
Frist u need to know what your main purpose on the TV and most important is the budget you allocate? Then is easy for me to introduce to you.

Will be using mainly for Movie 🎥🍿 consumption, some streaming Netflix & Disney+.

My current LG 49 incher is edge lit, HDR content looks crappy lol especially during Game of thrones night war season, can't see crap .

My main reason to get this is becoz the price range and the spec ..... brand i m sure cant compete with those big brand. anyhow it still some well known brand too.

what do u mean? as u know that xiaomi or redmi OS will have adv for their low retail cost to consumer , part of their revenue will from those adv. to answer your question, yes there will . but i m ok with it, becoz i dont use much of the TV os , i will my console or tvbox more often.
anyhow, if you purchase some program from the TV .... that will surely skip the adv ..... eg i bought the kids education content , so far so good!

i not sure what u mean by that? u mean the hdmi? i think you can set ....
@@PorPorChannel my experience with xiaomi tv is that, when the tv boots up, it will display the Tv OS UI, you will then have to select the hdmi input source.
Hence, what i was asking is can we set the default input so it will default to that instead of the TV OS Ui
@@minhphamuc2807 your is xiaomi TV, not redmi TV? .... as i know, you can set CEC .... once you open your console [device that support CEC] it will automaticallly switch to the hdmi port ..... have you try that? for example, my PS5 or Xbox or EARC sound bar will auto swtich on.
@@PorPorChannel it does have CEC support, however, it only turns on the TV when I turn on the other device, the input is not switched.

mate, what TV u owned now? ...... as for the setting Chinese to English, i would said it only 60% of the words can be display in English, some of it still in Chinese. But the setting font and words is in English......

jayden, i replied in english ya. so far, the redmi tv can install apk .... but some version of the apk u must try and error eg netflix, latest version cannot be play. need to download the older version. beside, sportify i havent tested yet. as for youtube, i think abit difficult. anyhow , to resolve this i just use an android box. beside that, the build in app ..... mostly is not playable due to region lock except the music video and news. hope i did answer most of your question. u planning to get this Tv?

Jayden, there is 2 factors u can consider for this TV. First is the price range and size, is this under your budget range and the size range u ocnsider? [i m sure no one can beat this price range with this screen size yet] If you buying for new gen console eg PS5 and Xbox , this is one of the TV with giving all the features especially HDMI2.1 , VRR and ALLM. So far i testing on the Huawei Vision S and this , this with the HDMI2.1 ; more future proof for gaming.
As for your normal TV watching exeperiece, i believe this beast enough to suit your taste. Local TV channel i havent tested yet, i m sure with the local antenna plug in - should be able to watch. Anyhow i think using antenna is abit old school now. Mostly we watch using internet or web browser.
Not to forget the sound system with Dodby ATMOS, you can connect to sound bar and enjoy the eARC too 🥰

@@jaydenyap28 basically I don't watch local channels at all. Even if I watch I will use internet TH-cam or tv box (many out there in the market) will able to watch digitally. Therefore no problem at all. Overall it depend what u is your purpose for the TV. If u upgrade from smaller size TV to 65" is okay. It's still upgrade bigger. Beside, it really depend on your need. my personal view bigger better especially the price is in the 65-75" lower range with all the spec given to u.
