Great video! After noticing a damp patch and a horrible smell after a heavy storm, I removed all of these little red discs, they were all clogged up and holding muddy water. Thankfully after a good clean and a couple of days with a fan heater in the car it’s now back to normal. Thanks for the tip!😊
This has got to be the most sensible and easiest video to stop all that faking water and condensation… no water footwell puddles no more condensation no more mould no more smell 👍👍👍👍
Followed your very clear instructions, and water came gushing out of the driver's side front drain when I gave it a squeeze, along with a load of muck! I'll be checking these drains regularly now!!! Thanks so much. BTW, Volkswagen wanted over £300 to 'investigate' this!!!!
Im glad the video helped, this is my own personal tiguan so i will be postinf lots about it when i can, subscribe and you will see all the content 😊 cheers
Brilliant. I got wet floors all warning lights on. Dealer wants £120 just to diagnose. Of course they know what the problem is but can’t tell customer shells out first. Thanks mate!
Thank you so much! Like the previous comment, I also saved £290 for a diagnostic check from VW plus repair fee. Both my front sun roof drains were clogged at the bottom where the rubber flap is. Your video made it quite easy to sort out!!
I had this issue and it caused an abs fault and 8 other fault notifications. Followed this video and drained the passenger side (my 2017 R Line only has one front drain) as well as the rear drain near the passenger side back wheel and hey presto the fault’s cleared. Saved me a few hundred pounds if I had to take it to a VW dealership without a doubt
Hi, I’m having a similar issue and that’s driving me crazy. It feels like there’s a massive water deposit somewhere in the car as I can hear the sound. Where can I find the rear drain? I have water coming in towards the left rear passage side at the bottom
Thanks for that, I have the exact same issue. Just got it cleaned and drained yesterday and no more water leak, but errors are still there. Did they go immediately or take a few days?
Cheers for that. Steaming windscreen, damp smell inside, wet carpet front and back, I can just imagine VW charging stupid money to 'fix' this. Great video thanks again.
Can't thank you enough for this video. Had my leak on the passenger door pillar, just by the bottom of the glove box, and inside that pillar there is a large load of wires & connectors. I was able to clear the blockage following your video, so you've done me a good turn and saved me money referring it to the VW dealer. I just hope I caught it quickly, and water has not got into vital bits of the wiring loom. Many thanks. Much appreciated.🙂

Hi, thanks for the vid. I have a VW Sharan with water ingress on passenger side A pillar, took it back to private dealer who said the drains were blocked and had unblocked them (showed me a vid of water clearly coming out of drains afterwards), but im STILL getting water ingress when it rains... Any ideas?
After watching several videos of roof liners being pulled down, I decided to take it to the main dealer. Got an appointment in 3 weeks time! So had another look and found your video - Fantastic - front 2 drains completely blocked. Then I went to your video about unblocking rear drains - oh dear, that's a lot more of a major job. I noticed there were no spider traps on these, does that mean they are less likely to get blocked?
hello Yorkshire mechanic...please help...going to try your video tonight hopefully. i also have the footwell leak and dripping through the overhead centre! i had a query as i have been monitering this closley past couple of days....essentially you have one gulley nearest the sunroof opening....and then you have the net that folds down and then another gulley where the drain holes are in the corner.....my question is, is in normal to have water in the gulley nearest the sunroof opening? i assume once it rises it drifts over to the outer gulley to drain? please advise. many thanks!
Hello, is sounds like your drains are blocked, the reason its in both sides of the gulley is because the drains blocked and its just over flowing its channel and therefore entering your car, let me know how you get on, fingers crossed its a quick fix 👍🏻
Certainly will be, literally just finished giving those spider catchers a good clean. Seems to be draining a lot better so I’m hoping no more showers on the way to work! Guess we will see. If this doesn’t resolve it I will be fuming haha. Just to confirm the outer gutter should only have water in and not the inner right? Cheers
ok will do i have rear drivers side footwell carpet soaked will do the fronts and the back fingers crossed that sorts it, worried i may have to take the carpet out@@Theyorkshiremechanic.
I have a tiguan 1 but what i want to know is can I just seal the panoramic roof and remove the fuse for it? I wouldnt mind just having a glass roof but im worried it would allow to much water to build up on the glass.
Probably not, but access is quite tight so you may struggle but it would be doable, you can also go down from the top with a long bit of wire or some compressed air and blow it out too they are some other options
@@Theyorkshiremechanic. well, I've cleaned the mud from the bottom of it..bit feels like I needed to get further up but there was no chance. I'm hoping it does the trick, but it's not raining in Sheffield today so I won't find out yet 😂 Thanks for the video.

They come out behind the carpeted wheel liners for the rear wheel. The side with the fuel filler may be obscured, especially on diesel models which have ad blu filler in the way. Mine is a petrol model so was easier to reach.
