Tiguan Mk2 2016 panoramic sunroof drains blocked leading to water inside the car and wet carpets
Thank you my friend make my day easy hehe 😅
Great video! After noticing a damp patch and a horrible smell after a heavy storm, I removed all of these little red discs, they were all clogged up and holding muddy water. Thankfully after a good clean and a couple of days with a fan heater in the car it’s now back to normal. Thanks for the tip!😊
I've got water in the boot. Volkswagen wanted to charge me £330 for a Sunroof service so I'm glad I've now found this video!
Assume there's also a rear drain for the sunroof?
Silly design really. I used strong cable ties & pushed them up the tubes, wiggled & twisted them & they worked great.
Clear concise solution to problem. Cheers.
I had this issue and it caused an abs fault and 8 other fault notifications. Followed this video and drained the passenger side (my 2017 R Line only has one front drain) as well as the rear drain near the passenger side back wheel and hey presto the fault’s cleared. Saved me a few hundred pounds if I had to take it to a VW dealership without a doubt
Hi, I’m having a similar issue and that’s driving me crazy. It feels like there’s a massive water deposit somewhere in the car as I can hear the sound. Where can I find the rear drain? I have water coming in towards the left rear passage side at the bottom
@@muazzammuneeb you have to look under the car - it’s near the passenger side wheel arch. It has an orange cap on it so it should help spot it.
Thanks for that, I have the exact same issue. Just got it cleaned and drained yesterday and no more water leak, but errors are still there. Did they go immediately or take a few days?
@@yasoof0wnz it was fine straight away. I did read that disconnecting the battery for 10 mins and then reconnecting may clear the fault
@ thanks :)
good explanation got my car fixed thanks to this video
Thank you so much!!!! Helped me a lot with my Tiguan.
Vw Tiguan a lot of issues I can believe what a bad quality of brand are !!!
Hi, thanks for the vid. I have a VW Sharan with water ingress on passenger side A pillar, took it back to private dealer who said the drains were blocked and had unblocked them (showed me a vid of water clearly coming out of drains afterwards), but im STILL getting water ingress when it rains... Any ideas?
One can also use pressured air for this work. But not more than 20 psi
Thanks, finally I can forget the problem of water in the Tiguan
You never know, you know
Thanks mate. This steered me in the right direction
Fixed in minutes, sorted the rear ones a few weeks ago but the front seemed easier thanks you your video
VW panorama moonroof in my VW Jetta Wagon leaked so bad!
love it, love it!!!!, wish I'd found this video when I had the problem initially, spent forever, then fixed in minutes with this...many thanks!!!
Checked my 2020 Tiguan today and the front pair had been removed, the nearside rear had been removed but the drive side was still on there so I removed that as well.
Get some gorila tape along the whole sun roof it works no more water.
Would I do any damage if I removed the red cap then sucked out the sludge with a small pipe connected to a wet and dry workshop vacuum
Probably not, but access is quite tight so you may struggle but it would be doable, you can also go down from the top with a long bit of wire or some compressed air and blow it out too they are some other options
You had to make this video because so many people have this problem and they were driving you crazy if you did not. Thanks a million.
Top tip, thanks!
Can't thank you enough for this video. Had my leak on the passenger door pillar, just by the bottom of the glove box, and inside that pillar there is a large load of wires & connectors. I was able to clear the blockage following your video, so you've done me a good turn and saved me money referring it to the VW dealer. I just hope I caught it quickly, and water has not got into vital bits of the wiring loom. Many thanks. Much appreciated.🙂
This does no good whatsoever unless you clear the rear drains too.
That is why i have another video regarding the rear drains but thank you for your comment 😊
Brilliant. I got wet floors all warning lights on. Dealer wants £120 just to diagnose. Of course they know what the problem is but can’t tell customer shells out first. Thanks mate!
We got a quote of 2k
This has got to be the most sensible and easiest video to stop all that faking water and condensation… no water footwell puddles no more condensation no more mould no more smell 👍👍👍👍
Great video. Gave me the confidence to do it - shame my drains were clear so must be another issue !
did you remove the rear ones too? There is another video showing where the rear ones are. th-cam.com/video/bcGzPV03X-o/w-d-xo.html It may also be the AC drain: th-cam.com/users/shortsCQnDQpa8pEk
How do you dry the carpet , shop vac ?
I wonder if its possible to blast some compressed air from a can down the pipe every so often to keep it clear?
Yes that would also work just be careful not to blow the full pipe off
Just done this on my car hopefully that was the issue
Life saver, been pissing me of having damp smelling car
Has it worked? Should have done 😆
Took the spider trap off and blew it with compressor all the gunk from the tube. Water flows now hopefully all good from here on.
Sounds like a good job well done 👍🏻
I put damp rid packets in my car to get the damp out.
Passenger side footwell is wet on mine, felt like it was dripping from the sun visor entrance.. Giving this a try this weekend!
This fault should fix it 👍🏻 awful design and people end up spending a lot of money with vw just for them to blow an air line down it its crazy 🤯
@@Theyorkshiremechanic. well, I've cleaned the mud from the bottom of it..bit feels like I needed to get further up but there was no chance. I'm hoping it does the trick, but it's not raining in Sheffield today so I won't find out yet 😂 Thanks for the video.
Its either that or try and get hold of some 4mm air pipe or some welding wire and go from the top
Thank you for the informative vid as I’m also having this problem but why have you got Audi wheels on your Tiguan? 😂
Winter wheels with snow tyres on, goes anywhere i pount it now 😄
Thanks mate you a right geezer for this
Got the same with my MK7 golf but need to take off the windscreen arms any idea what tools needed?
Great video. Just what I was looking for!
Another idea Curtain wire, cheap sturdy and comes in wide range of lengths and diameters, EBay, cheap fix, works great
This works! Brilliant video. Made my day and saved me a load of headaches and money.
Thanks for that chum 👍
This issue cost me £800, mine leaked and corroded/shorted an airbag connecter under driver side. I will be cleaning mine out regularly from now on
OMG😮 I LIKE THIS CAR THAT,S VERY DISAPPOINTING SITUATION
Thank you very much for this informative video - had water in My drivers side floor and you saved me a trip to the dealer !
Great video with clear instructions which resolved our issues. Our passenger side footwell was getting soaked, this sorted it. Thanks
Thank you so much! Like the previous comment, I also saved £290 for a diagnostic check from VW plus repair fee. Both my front sun roof drains were clogged at the bottom where the rubber flap is. Your video made it quite easy to sort out!!
Great video and it precisely addresses the problem with my Tiguan. Thx
what if the car is parked on an incline like my drive are there drains at the back? thanks for this
Yes drains at the back also, please see my other videos thanks
ok will do i have rear drivers side footwell carpet soaked will do the fronts and the back fingers crossed that sorts it, worried i may have to take the carpet out@@Theyorkshiremechanic.
This has probably saved me a lot of money as i had it booked in to be looked at by a macinic but i think i can do it myself, the only problem i have is my air-conditioning stopped working the heating works but the air-conditioning just stopped any advice please and thank you
After watching several videos of roof liners being pulled down, I decided to take it to the main dealer. Got an appointment in 3 weeks time! So had another look and found your video - Fantastic - front 2 drains completely blocked. Then I went to your video about unblocking rear drains - oh dear, that's a lot more of a major job. I noticed there were no spider traps on these, does that mean they are less likely to get blocked?
And back evacuations?
See othet video cheers
What about the boot i am getting water there
Im struggling to find anyone to fix mine as just my passengers rear is leaking. Can you check this?
