15:10 - that's the abandoned platform to the inner loop tracks - used way back in the day by the old Bowling Green-South Ferry shuttle.

Hi Suprtoe! Here's a funky suggestion (it's a long one!)
    1. R one stop to 86 St
    2. S79-SBS to Old Town Road/Hylan Blvd
    3. SIR from Old Town to St. George
    4. SI Ferry (enjoy the view!)
    5. W train to Cortlandt St (if it's a weekend, take the R)
    6. Check out the Oculus!
    7. PATH to Exchange Place.
    8. Hudson-Bergen Light Rail to Hoboken.
    Here's a different option:
    1. R to 36 St
    2. D to Atlantic Av-Barclays Center
    3. Q to 14 St-Union Square
    4. L to Metropolitan Av-Lorimer St
    5. G to Court Square
    6. 7 to Queensboro Plaza
    7. N to Astoria-Ditmars Blvd
    Here's one more:
    1. R to 4 Av-9 St
    2. G to Smith-9 Sts (check out the view from the world's tallest subway station!)
    3. F to Delancey-Essex Sts
    4. J to Fulton St
    5. 2 to 180 St
    (Optional: 5 to Dyre Av)
    Hope you like it!

Then take the B line to 4 street Wash Square! Then change onto the E line to World Trade Center! And the last line. Take the path train! The green line, To Hoboken! I love your videos and i hope you take my suggestion! :)

    Amazing. Now try my suggestions:
Suggestion 1 (Do this at night though. Not late night because most trains/services are unavailable):
(R)(E)(D) (N)(1)(7)(E) (Because there is no T line yet, I thought I'd use the 7 because it somewhat resembles the letter T)
    1. Take the R to Cortlandt Street - World Trade Center
    2. Take the E to West 4th Street - Washington Square
    3. Take the D to Atlantic Avenue - Barclays Center
    4. Take the N to Canal Street, and then walk all the way to Canal Street on the 1
    5. Take the 1 to Times Square - 42nd Street
    6. Take the 7 to Court Square - 23rd Street
    7. Take the E to Jamaica Van Wyck
    8. Enjoy the scenery....
    Suggestion 2:
    (R)(N)(6)(4)(7)(F)
    1. Take the R to 59th Street (4th Avenue)
    2. Take the N to Canal Street
    3. Take the 6 to Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall BUT STAY on the train once it arrives there. While it turns around to the uptown platform, you will see a haunting, yet surprisingly beautiful abandoned station.
    4. Take the 4 to Grand Central - 42nd street
    5. Take the 7 to 74th Street - Broadway (Jackson Heights - Roosevelt Ave)
    6. Take the F to Roosevelt Island
    7. Enjoy Roosevelt Island!
    Suggestion 3:
    (R)(E)(A)(L) (G)(E)(W)(D)!
    1. Take the R to Cortlandt Street - World Trade Center
    2. Take the E to Canal Street - Holland Tunnel
    3. Take the A to 14th Street
    4. Take the L to Lorimer Street
    5. Take the G to Court Square - 23rd Street
    6. Take the E to 7th Avenue - 53rd Street and walk to 57th Street - 7th Avenue on the N, Q, R, and W.
    7. Take the W to 34th Street - Herald Square
    8. Take the D to 47/50th Streets - Rockefeller Plaza
    9. Get the best view of New York City from the Top of the Rock!

How about the (R) to 86 St, the S79 Select Bus to Old Town, and the Staten Island Railway to Tottenville? (Beautiful area, very safe and on the waterfront) Or instead SIR to St. George, then ferry, then (1) to Columbus Circle?

15:10 that is the abandoned inner loop of south ferry which had the tightest curve of any station. So they only put openings on the platforms to lineup with train doors. Unfortunately the inner loop did not last long

The station at 63rd is so deep because it has to go under the 456 and also run under the river. The 2nd ave subway will go above the tracks that run under the river... if they ever build it going downtown.

    Here's my suggestion,
    R142
95th Street to Gun Hill Rd or Pelham Pkwy
    (R) from 95th Street to Whitehall Street
Walk on the (1) and (R)(W) transfer
    (1) train from South Ferry to Times Square
Go on a outside transfer from Times Square to Grand Central
    (4) train from Grand Central to Grand Concourse
    (2) train from Grand Concourse to Gun Hill Rd or Pelham Pkwy
By the way, in the 70s the 3rd Avenue EL existed so you can go to Gun Hill because there used to be the (8) and you can check the city I live in
Did I just mention the late-nights (R) route?

The above ground transfers are lexington ave 63rd street in Manhattan and Court Square in Queens

  • @Fantech0104
    @Fantech0104 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

The free above ground transfer you did at Lexington Avenue is currently the only free out of system subway transfer on the New York City Subway system. I'm rather curious how it's all programmed on the MetroCard system and how the MetroCard knows you got off at Lexington Avenue.

    • @bnywtrains9482
      @bnywtrains9482 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Fantech0104 Glad I'm not the only one trying to figure it out.

    • @michaelmantello
      @michaelmantello 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Fantech0104 I think that every time you swipe your MetroCard, one free swipe at Lex-59 or Lex-63 is automatically added to your card, and it expires after 2 hours. Since there's no way of telling the system where you get off, the MTA can lose a bit of money from this transfer. Suppose you get off at Lex-53/59/63 or 5 Av-59 or somewhere nearby, go to a store/restaurant, then walk to Lex-59 or 63 and swipe before two hours has passed. Now you can head back home- a round trip on only one fare!!! :)

    • @FuseguyisCool
      @FuseguyisCool 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Fantech0104 Once you swipe your Metrocard at any F train station, the card registers in its chip (this is my assumption) and when you swipe at 59 ST- Lex Av, the chip reads in the turnstile that you came from an F station.
