Blimey, this has taken me a few days to watch, I love the fact that you hinted that we only need a few products etc, if we were all to add up the amount of products and accessories we've all got I'm pretty sure my missus would divorce me !!
Like you Jon I've got many different products on the shelfs yet they all seem to have their place as and when needed.
Great video, you always put a smile 😃 on my face

Thank goodness for this channel! Most of the important how-to and why bits are left out in video car care here in the States and the information is something I really value. I like to know the how and whys of why it's done or not. Thanks, John, for being so organized and detail-minded in sharing your knowledge.

Brilliant update to the “detailing on a budget “ video you did a few years ago John. Really does bring up the recommendations up to date. Personally I’ve found your channel and comparisons so useful in my quest on an extremely tight budget and just for the sheer love and joy of detailing a car. Nobody will ever wash or look after your car like you will and I just can’t do the standard £10 snow foam wash, inside and outside thing now. I’m hooked and I can’t wait to start supporting you monetarily after finally getting my first professional job!

I just love watching these videos. I have been an avid car cleaner for decades but having trawled your videos for the past month or so I've now taken the plunge into contact-less washing techniques. I have to admit I was getting brain freeze watching much of the content on TH-cam, often with so much conflicting information but your vids, in general, contain so much help in terms of products, method of application and general hints and tips and its all put together in a no nonsense, clear presentation. Hopefully it has allowed a bit of information to finally stick inside my grey cells. Keep it up. You have one more dedicated follower from now on.👌

Rapidly coming to the conclusion of sticking to all things Bilt Hamber as you just can’t go wrong!!

Still alive after repeated viewings! Brilliant video as usual John. I keep coming back to see what products and kit you suggest. I’m on the precipice at the moment, one false move and I’ll be down the detailing rabbit hole. I only found your channel when looking at snow foam and whether it would help me wash my car quicker and with less effort. I’m on a slippery slope. 🙄

Thanks for your videos! As a longtime subscriber from the US, I will list products I use on my details. I am NOT a professional detailer, so costs are VERY important to me. The first product you list is pre-wash, I use whatever car shampoo I have. For an example, I have MALCO Prizm, non ph car shampoo I use in my gun. Yes, I use a gun, not a cannon, a pressure washer, for most jobs, is not necessary. I have excellent water pressure out of my hose. The MALCO Prizm, cost about $15.00 per gallon. For most maintenance washes, I use ONR, I can wash about 600 for $20.00. For an all purpose/degreaser I use Super Clean, about $21.00 for 2.5 gallons. Remember, I live in the US, so these are my US retail costs. For strip washing, I use Purple Power Vehicle & Boat wash, with Super Clean. I believe the Purple Power is about $7.00 per gallon. I get most of my products through Amazon or Walmart, & I try to buy by the gallon and dilute when possible. For tire and wheel cleaner, I use Meguiars Wheel & Tire Brightener, I believe it cost about $25.00 per gallon & dilute about 5 to 1. For spray bottles, I buy at Walmart for about $2.95 for a wide mouth bottle. For my chemical decon. , I use Adams Iron removal. It Cost about $35.00 per gallon. For mechanic decon. , I wash with a decon wash mitt from Nano Skin for about $20.00. Mt dual action polisher is Porter-Cable DA cost $120.00. My foam pads are from Lake Country, varies in costs. For polishes, I use 3D One or Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Polish/Wax. For waxes and sealants, I may use Turtle Wax Ice Spray Wax, TW Hybrid Ceramic Wax Spray or TW Seal 'N Shine. I just bought Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Ceramic Spray for about $20.00 for 22 oz. Tar removal, I use Goo Gone Pro, about $12.00 for a quart. For drying towels and or wash mitts, I use the Rag Company products. If I missed any products, please let me know?

    Great video as always John.
The stuff you said about the Karcher Pressure Washers was spot on, so many people in the various detailing groups, don't seem to know much about Equipment Maintenance. Your point about Karcher not offering a short trigger gun, it's down to the fact that they offer a plug and play system and it's not economical for them to do it. They do offer a far greater range of kit for their commercial grade stuff though. Personally, I've been advocating people build a universal system when upgrading Hoses and Guns etc, so they can switch out the Pressure Washer at will, without changing Hoses and Guns later down the line. Something to note about the Guns as well is the Nozzles need to be different depending on the Pressure of the machine someone has.
Great detailing setup overall though, the dosing and bulk chemical solution is awesome. Only thing you need now, is the Kranzle and a retractable hose reel lol.

Two years after your upload, but hey I'm still alive John, I'm still alive 😅 Have never cleaned our car and it's mirred and scratched up all over. I don't really care about cars, but I'm really looking forward to making it kinda nice again and maintain that.
Haven't bought a thing yet but plan now is to go for bilt hamber for cleaners and clay. G3 pro, H2Go (all thanks to your reviews and tests), autoglym paint renovator and autoglym super raisin. Want to get the autoglym deepshine also, but maybe later as I can't use that on my father's car. That one got keyed up while parked in front of our house and I'm feeling bad about it for years. But now I'm seeing that a lot can be done. And yes I don't expect miracles from all this handwork (plus foam/ pressure washer), but neither is he or my wife :)
Maybe you'll never see this, but thank you anyway. You are making new information about a world never seen before entertaining, very informative (great tests) and doable. All the best to you!

For your information i get 3 months durability out of Bilt Hambers Finis Wax. But that is when car has been full step prepared then polished, seal protected with Angelwax Ti22 (titan seal protection specifically made for waxing on top) then used Bilt Hamber Cleansing Fluid (better version of IPA for durability) to prepare the paint on entire car, before finally putting Bilt Hamber Finis Wax all over car. The shine level igot after that is out of this world... Never seen more of a mirror like paint! 👍

Thanks for the "cheap" detailing video. Marketing for big players like Meguires makes us assume that we need a special product for every detailing chore. Tires, wheels, wheel wells, bugs, road tar, engine bay. I use a 50/50 mix of Mr. Clean/water in a spray bottle. I have never found dirt that this solution will not remove.

OPPS, to clean carpets and cloth seats, I use a mixture of Oxy Clean, Dawn Dish Soap & ammonia glass cleaner in a gallon jug, and use as needed. To clean leathers, I use Woolite mixed 5 to 1. For leather conditioner, I use Lexol.

For the dose problem, can't you set the dose back to zero and the product will go back in. Only downside I can see with this is you have to reset the level to the original value. I enjoy your videos as you tell us the most affordable things. I'm only 15 so these videos are great for somebody with a budget like mine. Keep up the good work

Thanks for the tips & recs. My girlfriend would be ecstatic if I had my detailing supplies as organized as you do 😂
I always enjoy your honest, no frills content!
I’ve been wondering why you don’t include US affiliate links to your detailing products in the video description? Only UK links from what I have seen, unless I’m missing something? Thanks!

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว

thanks buddy. Maintaining affiliate links is a nightmare. To add them for US viewers would just be a massive overhead and I just dont think I its worth doing. Im sort of running at capacity from a YT'ing perspective right now.

It is my understanding that ONR has gloss enhancers in the product that leaves a residue. Is it enough to too interfere in any way with compounding or polishing ? I would prefer to not use a panel prep prior to polishing. I would recommend Car Pro Immolube, it comes highly concentrated so you dilute it , that makes it very cost effective. It also has a lot of lubricity to help a bit to reduce marring of the painted surface.
