    In these reviews of dog trailers, I am surprised at how little time is devoted to showing the actual 'customer experience' of the pooches themselves!
    Do they look comfortable and secure, are they being jiggled about on the no-suspension carriers, is the interior suitably padded so that their joints are not over-stressed, etc?.
    Probably the dogs would put up with almost any discomfort to be with their owners, but I do think that these matters should also be in focus, apart from the construction values.
    Maybe I am just a softie?

    • @TodayisanAdventureDay
      @TodayisanAdventureDay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is certainly a good point. Jasper did not like going in the trailer the first several times we used it. It is still not his favorite, but he does go in without a fuss. He seems to be much happier when we keep the front flap open so that he can stick his head out.

      I agree. Once I saw the size of this thing I knew my dog wouldn’t be comfortable in that. She’s a thick old lady w creaky bones.

      @@jasonreyes9504 There's as bed you can buy that helps, also you can use any dog bed in it or even thick pillows. Also there are now aftermarket shocks you add to this and the tailwagon.

    • @TodayisanAdventureDay
      @TodayisanAdventureDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, John. The trailer does fully enclose with mesh panels front and back to keep your dog contained. We used ours that way for several months until our dog became more comfortable. After that, we were able to keep the front panel open so he could stick his head out and look out more easily.

    Thank you for this video. I’ve been researching ebikes and have narrowed the choice to a Rad bike. Still undecided as to which would be best for me and my pug.
    Recently I read in a forum (don’t remember which one) some Rad owners saying they couldn’t attach the trailer to the wheel because of the motor and I’ve been panicking ever since! Lol. Apparently they had to purchase some kind of part that would attach the trailer at another location on the bike. I contacted the company and they replied but they didn’t provide any useful information- I think they may have been protecting themselves from potential legal issues. Who knows.
    Anyway. I’m glad to see this- I’m still looking for more info on it in relation to the Rad Wagon and/or the Rad Runner1

      I guess it is possible that there could be a challenge attaching the trailer to some models of the bike, but it was extremely easy and straightforward on my RadMini. We had no trouble getting it installed and have not had any issues since. Good luck!

    • @TodayisanAdventureDay
      @TodayisanAdventureDay  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, Kaitlin. I’ll see if I can get to that. The bracket that was included with the trailer attached to the rear axle using the existing bike hardware. No modifications were needed and that was very easy. Once the bracket is in place, the arm of the trailer fits into the bracket and then a pin holds the arm to the bracket. There is then a safety strap that is part of the arm that loops through the bike frame for added security.

    An employee at Rad Power Bikes recommended that we find a trailer that doesn't connect directly on the bike wheel. Do you know why someone might recommend that? Do you have tips to modify the trailer attachment or should we feel okay attaching it directly to the bike wheel as you've shown here?

    • @TodayisanAdventureDay

      Thanks for the comment. We attached the trailer to the outside of the rear axle and it worked perfectly. We didn't have to modify anything and we've used it a ton without any issues. We did 17 miles puling Jasper behind our RadMini yesterday at the Grand Canyon. :) The set-up is working without a flaw, and nothing needed to be modified. Good luck!

    • @TodayisanAdventureDay
      @TodayisanAdventureDay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. In order to attach the TailWagon to a seat post, you would need to radically modify the bar that attaches to the rear axle. I suppose that it could be done, but it would need to be fabricated by someone with some significant tooling and experience.

    My friend has a Radrunner, which is basically the same at the axel. We were cautioned by not only Radpower staff (though they gave us more of a "we cant guarantee anything"), but also by other bike mechanics about attaching a trailer hitch to the rear axel since it has to deal with the stress of the motor as well. Did you consider this when installing it? Has it caused any problems? Thanks for any feedback.

    Ok, a few things you should be aware when using a bike trailer. I used one for my two kids for many of their toddler years. First, if you are going fast enough to wear a helmet (any speed faster than walking) remember your trailer passengers are not protected. Second, be aware of wider turns and wheel width. Your bike clearance does not mean the trailer will clear. (I've toppled my trainer off and on curbs and clipped vertical poles). Third, load shifts. If your passengers push to one side or back, the trailer will be move and may topple. Some trailers have canted wheels to prevent this. Smaller wheels may flip easier. Fourth, always keep the front nets and use the clear window as debris and water is always kicked up by your rear tire. When riding with a partner, it's wise to have trailer in front and your partner in back to keep an eye thing. Have fun.
