    Bought a crown Vic engine from a police cruiser for my F150 that I bought with bent valves. Was told it ran good but decided to open it up to check it out. Glad I did because although the engine never jumped time the left side lower guide had broken in two and was just laying in there still guiding the chain but ready to get crunched. Nice video ! Explained everything without the bee-bop !

Thanks for the video telling me about that they will only line up when you first put them on. After rotating the engine twice all three timing marks lined up like they should. Great video! By having the crankshaft sprocket with the dot at the 6 o’clock position, will moving your cam gear to line up the chain hit the pistons? In other words, do you need the special tool everyone says you need or used some locking pliers to lock the cams? Thanks.

    hey man great video - I'm about to do this job for the first time on my 2011 Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I watched a ton of videos and many say once you lock the cams with the cam locking tool to not rotate them again with the chain off, or it could mess up the timing. but then most videos end up rotating them slightly with the tool off, to line up the chain properly? little confused by this

    Hey i got a question i was hoping you can answer. When lining up timing marks how do you know the came gear marks are in the right position like the crank sprocket being at 6 o clock? Or does it not matter as long as for example the rh timing mark matches with crank timing mark with no slack on one side of the chain? Not sure if you can make sense of this question but im trying to learn lol

  • @LegalLowGround

    Hey man so when taking off the tensioners for the Passenger side cam, is it normal for it to kind of skip teeth and settle because there's no tension? And also what is the best position for the crank to be at for this? Because people say keep it at 9 o'clock to prevent it hitting a valve because it does snap back once the tension is gone. Thanks!

    • @jimmyaber5920
      @jimmyaber5920 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@custombill the turning is easily countered by a wrench on the cam bolt until the hinged rail and then tensioner is fitted. When the tool is used you will have trouble starting the tensioner bolts as tool doesn't hold chain tight on drive side to give enough slack on the slack side. You can move the crank key to 9 o'clock to get to a spot where cams stay put since chain marks by dots is how it is being timed. A wrench will still be needed to tension chain on drive side for tensioner install if this is done.
