  • in this video, I will walk through the process of installing power windows in a jeep tj. This vehicle never had the option of power windows from the factory!

Sweet! Good video with excellent tips. I will be doing mine soon. When I first got my 98 TJ which I ordered from the factory in Dec 97 my daughter was 7. The first time she rode in it she was going to roll the window down and she looked at me and said, 'Where is the button?" I thought it was funny and still remember it like it was yesterday.

It has been a great modification! It puts a smile on my face after living with the crank windows for years!
That’s funny about your daughter and the windows that’s the reaction I had when I got the jeep as my first car :)

I have a LJ 2004. The extended wheel base TJ. It’s my dream car I’d love to do this to it! And maybe a hard top but don’t have hard top option unfortunately. I first had a 97 4 Cylinder manual.

The extended wheel base jeep tj’s are some of the best and most desirable!!
I am loving having the power windows so far and the install did not take too long!
I will be posting some more videos soon showing other modifications (power door locks double din radio ext)

not thru with viewing yet so maybe my question is early..... but does this come with a way to pop an emergency handle in place to manual raise/lower the windows?

      Hi!
No, it replaces the whole regulator with one that is like any other car that has power windows. Without using the electric motor you cant move the window.

Wanted to say Thank you for your video. I installed these on my LJ ..worked perfectly fine but now when pressing button windows won't go up or down. Buttons still light up green and there is power going to the doors but they just won't up or down. I checked fuse inside glove compartment and it is still lit up. It's hard to find anyone with these online that has had the same problem. Do you have any idea what this might be? Thank you in advance.

      Hi!
Are both buttons not working ?
Sounds like you have power to the stitches
What I recommend you check is remove your door panels and remove the switch bezels check to make sure all the spade connectors are connected to the back of the switch I had an issue with mine because I remove the door panel for a different reason tuged the wires a little bit leading to the switch and one of the connectors came off the switch and caused a similar issue except my window would not go up only down.
Something kind of interesting with these set ups is the power runs through the driver side so more than likely your issue is with the driver side on mine a wire came loose on the driver side switch and caused the passenger window to not work even with using the passenger side switch and they were both lit up similar to your situation
It is weird if both your windows are not working and both switches are not working I almost wonder if you have a ground issue sometimes LEDs will still light up with bad ground so that might be worth checking as well.
Let me know if this helps!

Hey man, love the video but I'm not used to wiring or anything, is it possible you could tell me where this stuff goes? I'm relatively new to this and just need help with where the fuse goes so I have a place to start. Thanks!

Normally you want to put the fuse as close to the battery as possible. That way, if you have an overdraw, there’s less wire to burn up before the fuse pops and you don’t risk a short in between the battery and the fuse.

When you said you connected both powers? What do you mean? Did you hook the red wire to your battery and your ignition to the battery as well (since you said your lights will always stay on)?

I did but I changed it later.
You can run the ignition wire to your ignition wire that goes to your radio if you want. It’s just a signal wire for the windows to turn on.

      Still working perfectly.
And I roll my driver one down every day to get the mail. So they definitely get use.
