  • Why did Paul Walker own 5 BMW M3s? Why does someone own 50 Miatas? Today we’re looking at the most extreme cases of people hoarding the same type of car!
Special thanks to friend of the channel ‪@LarryChenPhoto‬ for letting us use his coverage of the Fluffy Museum.
And huge thanks to Karo for bringing his E36 M3 to the shop! / carswithkaro

I'm affiliated with the Horseless Carriage Club of America, a touring club for Brass Era cars, and the club has a thing against "hoarding" cars. We (all car owners in the world) don't really "own" our cars -- we're merely the custodians/caretakers until it is time for other people to take care of them. I wish more people thought that way.

Wish I would've known there was a video coming out for quirky collections. My late family friend Brian Moyer owned 16 AMC Gremlins of varying models including 2 of the 3 known prototypes based off of the gremlin/hornet styling. He also had a custom made hot rod Gremlin he completed back in the 70's that was kept in great condition to this day.

@@B.Dizzler93 unfortunately not. After his passing the collection of both cars and parts have been split up. It also included the only australian (rhd) gremlin and a pushmobile VAN in a museaum... that the new owner now wants to turn into a driveable car...

I do agree with the Saturn owner. Most of us have never owned a super car, and when we got older, want to rebuy the cars our parents had just to relive memories, and sadly most of those cars all got discarded. Some of the old, “plain” cars deserve to be saved just as much as anything else.

I dearly miss my Saturn SC2, it was hands down the best vehicle I ever owned. Even after leaving it sitting in my driveway for 6 years, after a quick battery charge, it started right up! Even with crappy ethanol-filled gas sitting in the tank for 6 years. I had that thing until it literally stopped running in 2014 after buying it in 1999.

We had 8 3rd gen Firebirds by the time I graduated Highschool. My dad bought a 86 in the early 90's and fell in love with it. Then started buying more in like 2001, after a couple years he had bought 7 more for various reasons. We lived on the corner of a busy intersection so he liked to park them all in the yard when it was nice out, facing the busy road as if it was some kind of car show. People used to use our house as a landmark when giving directions. Sadly, my Father only has 2 out of the collection including the original one he bought.

Saturn's are so unappreciated. They are a easy to maintain cheap car with an absolutely bulletproof drivetrain. They are one of my most beloved car brands that I have never had the opportunity to own. My best friend had one for 7 years that he bought for $500 and absolutely abused. It just kept trucking along without hesitation and will probably do so until the end of time. Fantastic vehicle that is never recognized for it's amazing reliability and fabulous engineering.

    • @christinalouise2785

Hey, it’s not too late to buy one and have fun with it! Look for elderly-owned s-series cars being sold for cheap, or just folks selling cheap who don’t appreciate the car. I picked up a super clean SW2 last year with 112k miles and the only problems it had was a dead cooling fan motor and a chattering electric door lock that kept draining the battery. I bought it for $750 and replaced the lock switch for $13 and the fan motor for ~$40. We’ve put about 6k miles on it since and it’s been picture perfect. I gave it to my teen, and with basic maintenance there’s no reason it shouldn’t last him another 150k miles or more. 😊

This is the car that led to my love of BMW. When I was 12 my family and I went to a race at Limerock Park in Connecticut. BMW has always had a presence at Limerock so it wasn't unheard of to see the random BMW strewned around the park or booths etc. This trip however they were trying to sell the LTW's so they actually had 3 of them there in an upper parking lot. For a small fee they would actually take you for a ride in the car. So I begged my stepfather throughout the day until he ultimately relented and we went for a ride in this gorgeous car. I remember climbing in the back seat and actually not being impressed. I saw the empty spot on the dash where the radio was supposed to be and the cloth seats. The analog dials for the climate control as opposed to the digital climate control I had seen in other BMW's Then however we started to drive. And when I say drive what I really mean is a professional driver started to beat the shit out of the cars in that parking lot. They had cones set up so they were whipping us around the cones. Fishtailing the back of the car around. It was the most fun I had ever had in a car and after that I was sold. The ride was probably less than 3 minutes but it brought about a lifetime of enthusiasm for BMW. It wasn't until years later I realized just how special those cars truly were. This was my poster car. We left after our "ride" with a couple promotional brochures and the poster that hung on my bedroom wall until I went away to college. Unfortunately the poster and brochures I kept for all those years have been lost to time but the M3 LTW will always hold a special place in my heart as the car brought on my passion/obsession with BMW to this day.

I'm not a huge chevette guy, but I think you should have included the information that the chevette was fist a Vauxhall sold for eight years prior and also shared its underpinnings with the opal kadet.

Justin, I too would collect a bunch of Subarus. If I strike it rich, I’ll hire you as my curator.
I’ll need an Alcyone, a yellow ‘98 GT-B limited, and an S402 wagon to get me started. Oh, and a Grand Wagon with the dual-range! And… eh, you get it.

my first car was an E36 BMW 328i & i've driven every 3-series made after the E36. IMO the E36 is the funnest one to drive & feels faster than some of the newer 3-series'. I wish i had a single E36 M3 let alone 5!

Aweeeeee we had a cherry red SVX (not the dumb maroon red) when I was in 6th grade, but had to get rid of it because it would die sometimes WHEN ACCELERATING from a stop which could kill you. Took it to 2 Subi dealers, and a handful of other mechanics that couldn't fixed it (some thought they did for a week or two then it'd die again). Ironically the guy we sold it to fixed it the week he bought it. There's also one of those green ones you showed at the end sitting behind some weird shack on my delivery route! I want another!

13:22 i actually went there for my 17th birthday. What was most heartbreaking about it though was the sinkhole (iirc) that happened, destroying several of the Corvettes. Most of them i dont think were salvageable. But i would 10/10 recommend going there if youre a car nerd. I loved it.

Mark Pieloch probably has all of these collections beat. It’s also a private collection in a “museum.” I went there for a special event and literally half the cars are either mustangs or corvettes. He had over 400 cars in total last time I was there. American Muscle Car Museum, you can check some of it out online.

Ion Redline Owner. The Ion came first and then was shared and made into the Chevy Cobalt and Pontiac G5. This is why none of the body parts are interchangeable. The ion was the more upscale car between the the two oh and it has a land-speed record in the "G/Blown Fuel Altered" Class at 212.684 mph.

My brother in law was into Saturns. Always reminded me of people who were overly passionate about Saab. The main gimmick I remember about Saturn is that they had all plastic body panels, which kept weight down, but also meant you're entire automobile was plastic....bummer

I drove an E36 M3 Lightweight on a 500km drive. The engine was amazing. The brakes were terrific. The chassis was really nice but the ride was too stiff for road work. It would have been a better road car with a bit more compliance. The driving position wasn’t that great. The steering wheel felt too big…the steering feedback wasn’t that fantastic. I have to say I preferred the E30 and E46 M3s

My neighbor growing up had an E36 M3 LTW (he called it 'car with flag' lol) and got my dad and I into BMWs. I knew it was rare, but didn't realize it was THAT rare back then. My dad ended up getting a '98 M3 sedan and I got a '91 318is as my first car that I still own and we would take them to track days with the neighbor who would bring out his LTW. Good times. I believe he sold the LTW probably a decade+ ago, would have been a cool ass car to hang onto. My parents sold the M3 as well (for a 335i), reallyyy wish they hung onto it as well.
