  • My 1966 Ford Bronco half cab has been sitting neglected since last summer and I've got a shelf full of parts to install on it so lets see if we can resolve some of the issues we found with it on our first test drive and maybe even make an upgrade or 2 along the way! I don't really want to let this thing go but if someone thinks it's worth $20,000 and has the cash. It could be yours! As always, thanks for watching!

    The one thing that drives me f***ing nuts is guys who will just hit you up with "What's the lowest you will take?" I have always said cash talks and bullshit walks. If you gotta ask what the lowest someone will take without even looking at it, then you aint even got it in the budget to get a horse and buggy.

      If I'm selling a minibike and someone asks "how low will I go?" I say about 2 mph, and it will fall over. If I don't have money, I don't even ask.

    • @ironcladranchandforge7292
      @ironcladranchandforge7292 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      I disagree. It's called negotiating a deal. It would be stupid not to negotiate for a better deal, even if you got the money to pay full asking price. Most people who ask the question "what's the lowest you'll take" is either cutting to the chase, or don't want to make a lower offer in fear of offending the seller. It's just a negotiation tactic. You can simply say, make me an offer, or I'm not budging from asking price.

      @@kw9849 -- Not necessarily. The seller might give a lower price, but not necessarily the lowest price. Most times it's just a starting place to negotiate further in my experience. By the way, I've owned (or bought) over 86 vehicles in the last 40 years. Well, I lost count at 86. I know it's a lot more. So negotiating the price of a vehicle is something I've done a lot of, LOL......

    • @smarternu
      @smarternu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Standard Answer: "What's the most you will pay?" That helps the IDIOTS understand that I gave them a price, and it's their turn to make an offer, then we can go back and forth as long as it takes to get to DEAL, or a walk away.

      I always liked old Broncos, and especially that one. The first engine I tore down was one of those in shop class back in around '75. I think it was the little brother. The 170 or something. Same block. I now drive a '66 Falcon. I laughed when you said you had wiring gremlins. There aren't enough wires for that.

      Because if I sell the car to the scrapyard, it’s worth $400. Scrap the cat for $400 first, then scrap the car for $200 now that it’s missing the cat. Just made $600 instead of $400 lol.
      And 3rd party title piss me off too. I buy/fix/sell cars/trucks. I refuse to purchase a vehicle if it’s an “open” title without a SOLID explanation. “I bought it to fix and resell” or “it broke down on me before I could register it, now I’m selling it because I cannot afford to fix it” MIGHT pass as acceptable. It would have to be a DAMN good deal to buy with an open title.
      Every single vehicle I sell, is registered in my name. Usually because I own/drive them for a while before they get sold off. I hate curbstoners/title jumpers.

    When I was in high school I worked for a couple hours after school as a janitor. My boss had a bronco and one day I needed a ride home so he dropped me off. I'm here to tell you the gas smell was so bad it would get you drunk. I said what the hell is wrong with it and he said I don't know it's always smelled like that. Well I crawled under it looking around and the entire top I mean the entire top of his gas tank had rusted off. The scariest thing about all this is he smoked cigarettes like a coal train. It's a wonder he didn't blow himself to the moon with that thing.

    I don’t understand a lot of the car jargon you throw out there, but that’s not why I watch. You are knowledgeable and experienced, and you clearly work incredibly hard. The things you can get done after work throughout the week is far more than most people have the motivation to do in a couple months (or longer). As long as you still enjoy fixing these old cars, I’ll enjoy watching you do so. Please just don’t burn out trying the make the viewers happy.

    Mortske, no apologies needed. Your content is always good. For example, you haven't had an engine fire in some time, and I was sure that was about to change when the fuel was spraying out of it while you were trying to reconnect the line. Never a dull moment. Remember, it doesn't matter how you get it done, as long as you're havin fun

    Would love to see more of the Bronco. As far as things that drive me nuts, people who have unrealistic ideas of what they think the car setting in the woods behind their house (that they are never going to touch) is worth. Ask them how much they're looking to get and they price it like it's a completed nut and bolt restoration.

    Definitely would like to see a scuff and shoot. No need to go all out, would way too expensive. Great project, would like to see it again. Projects or will it starts, doesn't matter. Keeps me entertained while I save up for parts.

    I think this video is FINE, your high standards speak well of you, though. I was tickled to see you on a shop tour - all work and no play, etc. Thanks for making such consistently good content, always worth a watch!

    Im ready for more Bronco content. Bring that. I've had mostly positive buying experiences from FB marketplace and craigslist in the past. Selling is another matter. Love it when people start off asking if you'll take 50% of your asking price or start by telling you that your product is a pos and they can get better for cheaper all day long.

    Discovered you recently and enjoy the videos. I am the son of a Ford Mechanic and raced of Ford Fiesta back in the day. I was one of those prententious road racers. Retired from that a few years back and became a goat farmer, as people do. Sort of the natural progression, but I digress. I tend to be pretty cheap with my cars and it has been years since I bought anything new. That also means, when something gets sold, it usually is not a high-buck sale so that seems to attract some quality citizens. I tend to put an add together that is pretty honest (to a fault) and complete, so when the guy (usually a guy, isn't it?) does not bother to read the add, that really pisses me off. Also, the guy that just messages you a low ball offer without even taking the time to come and look at it. If I do not ignore them, and the question is what is your best price, I will double my asking price. When they react, I tell them, well that is MY best price. Again, enjoy what you are doing. Take care!

    I like the troubleshooting / problem solving, and comedy of the added clips , plus there are tips and tricks that can be learned. Puddins channel has similar qualities. Also you and Duff .... Video after video with all those attributes leads us to an evolving character that we become familiar with.

    Watching you not drop that tank reminded me of working by myself in the shop with a transmission on my chest on the creeper and not able to move so I rolled it off of me and on to the floor gently. I did balance it on the floor jack going back in though. Your content is exceptional. Can't wait for the next one. Thank You!
