I'm a High School freshman (14-15 y/o in america) currently running 11.9 in the 100 meter and every time i watch a video of yours i get motivated to go to the gym and work on my leg strength. Haven't gotten to run a 100m yet because currently i'm in the indoor track season but when I do I'm hoping to break 11.5. Amazing video, thank you for doing what you do.
@@SagzPB i will most certainly. if you're doing any training, good luck to you as well! i've currently qualified for the Adidas High School National Indoor Track Championships for the 200m and I'm really happy, but i probably won't attend the event.
Your content inspired me to start my own channel with sprinting content! Keep it up Matthias thank you so much for being a great creator and sprinter🤝🏼
Good morning , I don't think it's the best training method, Mathias mixes too many bodybuilding exercises, a sprinter doesn't need many derivatives of bodybuilding workshops to improve his speed, we just have to ask for the adequate muscles which promote the improvement of speed, there are standards required in bodybuilding, in particular the cyclical work concerning the speed in bodybuilding, the power, the strength and at the end the explosive force near the competitions, also it must respect: the number of series, repetitions of series for each aspect developed and especially the recovery time which is different according to the Sine quanone equation: Strength = power / speed Also there must be perfect synchronization between the upper limbs and the lower limbs of the athlete, if the torso is more developed than the legs this will surely create an imbalance and prevents gaining enough speed by putting the center general gravity forward. Matias' strides do not have an easy amplitude to propel when reaching maximum speed.
Just came across your channel on 31st. Never heard of a sprinter snatching 120 kg :) Nice technique and training routine. I like your combination! And I would love you to see you compete in CrossFit or so. Keep on the good work!
Hey Mathias! First of all know that we all believe you have the talent and ability to work as has as needed to achieve this! I would like to know if you have any data comparing the timing gates times with the freelap system. Cheers!
Thanks! The freelap system seems to be about 0.5% - 1% faster (for 30m) than the Brower system indoors, and also there might be a little bit more inaccuracies by my feeling. Outdoors the freelap system seems to work better than it does indoors, but I don't have much data to compare outdoors.
@@hovejoha ok thank you so much! There is no evidence at the moment comparing the two but I have used both in separate occasions and found the same. Cheers 😁
When you're in the gym, do you emphasize strength or explosiveness? Strength in general does not always translate to more speed, how do get so explosive then? Does that come just from mixing your strength training with lots of jumps and sprints? Great video!
Hello, I'm from Brazil and I'm your fan and also a sprinter, I would like to know what peaks mean, maximum speed in peaks. and also what are 2 buildings in apartments, thank you.
Do you do anything spesific to increase your hip flexor strength? I remember in a documentary they found that the best sprinters had one vital difference vs second best sprinters and that was the size of the hip flexor muscle. I have seen Ben Patrick do it with weight attached to leg, and also some do it with elastic band like a running movement. Thoughts?
@@elijahquintana2132 yes this one also work if the cable moves smoothly. These different method probably have their strength/weaknesses because the resistance curve is different for them. Yes I have seen Usain Bolt train hip flexor with the cable machine
If you don't mind me asking, how tall are you and how much do you weigh? I'm hoping to use a sprint/power development program to get me ready for training parkour in the summer. Best from Colorado, USA!
What is the benefit of squating so deep? Normally you shouldn't squat beneath 90 degrees because that's as low as you go in a starting block? Good luck on the project tho!!
Its funny how I could train all year around only focusing on increasing my squat, bulking up, no running and not even being close to his squat weigths.
Am I the only one who is more surprised about his recovery bc how does he use his legs every day without being so stiff and tight from soreness. Like he must have at least 1 day where he trains just his upper body.
I would do trap bar. Easier technically which means easier to load for most, and less chance of injury. Also you stand taller in more "spesific" angles.
So why then do you do so much conventional deadlifts? Because want to take off some load from your legs from the heavy squatting? Trap bar works much more quads than deadlifts
@@thewarrenbuffettspreadsheet For most people, for most of the year I would advise trap bar deadlift instead of both squat and deadlift. I think it lies somewhere between a box squat and a deadlift. I don't do a lot of deadlifts, only once per week for about 5 weeks when starting off the training year for general strength.

nice squats! what's your deadlift pb?
Thanks, I did 185 in 2017, that was the last time I tried maxing it.
@@hovejoha would maxing lead too much fatigue?
❤❤
Why do you keep doing strength training? I thought sprinters want to have less muscle so they are quicker like mo farah?
Are the maxflys so much better than the superfly elite 2s?
For some they feel a lot better. Personally I feel like the Maxflys might be a little bit faster, and easier to relax in.
