At 3:25 What is that flat metal piece called? I had mines done and it's really rusted. Mines looks more rectangular. Ever since I had my bearing replaced, it makes a scarping noise bc that piece is rubbing.
That's the dust shield. They tend to bend when working in that area, and can then touch the rotor. It can be pulled back with your hands if you have some gloves.. It's either that, or they reinstalled it backwards, which happens sometimes, but they should fix it for you for free imo if they were the ones who did your bearing

Yeah? That sounds like a smart technique 👍. i’ve also heard someone put their wheel back on the hub and kicked the tire until it came free.. Either of those methods should be easier than the chisel 👍👍

yeah, it's the same, except for you will have a spline connection in the rear of the hub unit for the axle to connect. you may have to disconnect the upper and lower control arms at the joints to make room to disconnect/reinsert the axle.. here's a video of a guy working on his g35x [ th-cam.com/video/xZ0KXd092Ag/w-d-xo.html ] .. his tutorial is a little long and doesn't show as the job is being done, but he does show where to disconnect the control arms to make the room and angles

@JJ 🙁 That’s the worst one for sure.. Is it still caught on the threads, or free spinning? Are you able to push something through from the back side of the bolt? Maybe pry it out with a small pry bar or screw driver?

First time doing this and I wonder if you need to bleed the brakes after that because you take off the brake caliper ? Because I juste received two brand new wheel bearings and i’m waiting to receive my brake pads. So if I need to bleed, I better be waiting my brake pads and do everything at the same time
i took my old hubs off the front easily if you have a drive hammer / pull bar (whatever you want to call it) with a hook on the end. Just pounded it out. took less than minute.
Just picked up an 04. What noise were you getting from the hub? I can't determine if its a hub or just old tires. I did the 12/6 and 9/3 shake on all the tires and no movement. Kinda at a loss.
i was working through multiple possibilities, diagnosing the front suspension.. when i noticed the unit was completely rusted, i assumed a good amount of the grinding sound could be coming from there, and it was cheap enough for me to knock out. might as well for safety when in question

Maybe you could shine some light my way with this issue!! I've had this issue basically ever since I've owned the car I think. Once my trans is warm parked and/or at a stand still my 5 speed auto trans sound like it has a bunch of cans rattling around inside? Run and shifts perfectly fine, but the sound is a little embarrassing when I park and my car is just running and the only thing you hear is the trans rattling..
i'd check the transmission fluid level and look for leaks.. there's also a lot of components in A/T's that could be having issues, but i'm not a transmission specialist, so here's an article which i hope helps diagnose the noises: itstillruns.com/diagnose-transmission-noises-7793788.html you might want to check your transmission mount too.. best bet is to search around for a local technician who you can trust to diagnose the sound for you
Mils Garage yeah I've thought about checking around, but I've been iffy simply because if they can't figure out what's wrong I'll have to pay for the dignostic fees. Which if I'm not mistaking can be very pricy when dealing with transmissions. I've heard some repair shops disassble the trans then say nothing is wrong and stick a hefty bill on the customer. I'd be furious.. so a part of me wants to wait until something actually breaks being i am covered with an extended warranty..
well most definitely look for leaks.. it's just an easy check, and the transmission will experience a catastrophic death without fluid lol, but i wouldn't worry too much if it's under warranty.. you're totally right though.. like 90% of the shops knowingly misdiagnose customer's cars and take from people without even properly doing the same jobs they lied about.. those shops are pretty much why i created this channel in the first place
some of the G's and Z's have dipsticks and others don't.. apparently it depends on the exact year and model. i was told many times that the 2005 6MT had a dipstick, but after searching multiple times and going over the forums, my car has no damn transmission dipstick. LOL so.. i wish i could give you a definitive answer.. sorry buddy.. if it doesn't have a dipstick, run your finger over the bottom, near the drain plug, and hopefully it isn't oily.. the transmission fluid doesn't burn off, so if it doesn't show signs of leaking, it's still full. if it does show signs of leaking, hopefully it's just a failed washer, and we have a video on how to top it off and everything: th-cam.com/video/3GZ5gkPHpjY/w-d-xo.html

I've recently had a rear wheel bearing go bad on my 07 g35 sedan. I still have a extended warranty so I took it to the dealer.. well they're replacing only one side from what I was told on the phone today. My theory is "i may be wrong" but if one has gone the other isn't too far behind.. what sucks is my warranty is going away in 5k.. im kind of stressed about it.. being I'm always working and really don't have time to do things like this myself.... lol if its still making ANY abnormal noise when I pick it up im taking it back to the dealer ASAP.. lol
i've also heard that both sides should probably be replaced, because they travelled about the same distance and probably hit near the same number of bumps.. on the other hand, i've been told that you don't replace parts that aren't broke.. i'd personally make the call on whether you're running spacers or not, and where you live/park the car. the stealership's seem to always take the slimy, easier, cheaper way out. where do you live? we can do hub unit replacements for cheaper than the stealership
Mils Garage I live in bowling green Kentucky. I do not run spacers. The only modification I have is after market wheels(if you would even consider that a mod lol). I only run in the summer. 20 ×8.5 all around.
i see you're quite a bit of a distance from Delaware.. dayummm! you're running 20"s?? i imagine the hubs will be taking a lot of impacts running 20's, but you'll probably be fine as long as the hub isn't rusted and the offsets are close to stock

one of the 4 bolts (the lowest one) is a snug fit, but this job won't take very long.. someone told me they got it off by attaching the wheel after unbolting it and kicking it off
One tip to add to remove the hub. Put the spare on with a couple of lug nuts, work back and forth, boom, off.

I placed a piece of wood on inside of the hub and hit with a mallet 3 quick taps fell right out.

I just got my aftermarket hub and it seems to be not as easy to rotate as I would have thought? Any thoughts?
Did you press the bearing? Sometimes they are pressed in too far, but does it turn well with the wheel on?

if u can get ur hands on the assembly, then it will be the same, but u'll also have to know how to take apart and reassemble the emergency brakes
give or take. ive done it with the ebrake on and off. But the ebrake does get in the way sometimes. Awesome tutorial bro!
