1904 Clayton and Shuttleworth traction engine OldGlory towing 1869 Clayton and Shuttleworth portable up a fairly sharp hill on a farm track we passed through
How it would have been done 100 years ago,, why oh why are we in such a rush these days? just one thing though ,, lucky those fields of ripe crops didn't catch fire
That was a great video and the surprise was at the end with the dead weight behind it. Spent much of my school days with ploughing engine sets and was lovely to see the condition of the engine. The picture of this machine from possibly a century ago still working with the modern windmills in the background made me wonder if they will still be working in the next century, somehow doubt it.
This engine was built as a general purpose engine for farm work, mainly driving equipment via a belt on the flywheel or general haulage and winching work around the farm, ploughing was done by specially built ploughing engines normally pulling the plough back and forth across the field between 2 engines with large winches under the boiler
What a fantastic sound she made pulling up the hill. Great video 👍
She sure did, thank you
Pity about the stupid wind turbines in the background.
barely made it (( My Sienna wouldn't even notice going up this hill
😂
Great country side video. That thing was holing heavy weight all right ! *** Nice machines
The good old steam engines. Thank you guys.

Certainly no rushing in them days, we did have the spark arrester on the chimney to stop the big lumps coming out and setting fires
Did well to get up there! With a load too!

I agree, the traction engine is 1904 and the portable behind is 1868, 150 this year! The modern turbines certainly won’t last that long
:)
That was awesome to watch !, thanks for sharing with us .
Good old steam Engines $$$$$$$$$$$$$
This is one piston engine? How many HP it have?
Yes one Piston, it is a 7 NHP single cylinder engine 😊
Hey old glory is the American flag
Yes it is, but we have no idea how the engine came to have this name
Great machine, might be quicker to plough by hand
