Just finished up You Better Watch Out so I can answer your question about how Christmasy it is. The abandoned town is all decked out for Christmas and the weather is below freezing with blizzard-like conditions which comes into play. There’s a Merry-Go-Round in the middle of town that comes into play later. That seems kind of Christmasy. However, sadly, the kills aren’t very christmasy. Nobody getting attacked with sharpened candy canes or strangled with a string of Christmas lights. But Christmas also is also kind of important to the overall plot. Kind of. Anyhow, I enjoyed it! It was a quick fun read.
Oh! And A Christmas Carol is sooo good! I hope you enjoy it! The ghost of Christmas present is… something else, lol. It’s also funnier than most of the movies make it seem. Dickens was a pretty witty guy.
I read A Christmas Carol every year and I'm sure you will grow to love it. Of the many film versions the 1951 classic starring Alistair Sim is probably the one to check out. Now say after me..."bah humbug!"
My plan is to read Candy Cain Kills Again on Christmas Eve...this time I'll be ready, Santa! If you order from the publisher's site directly, they send a lot of cool swag as well...stickers, bookplate, ships in a custom box resembling a VHS tape.
I just read Candy Cane Kills Again and really enjoyed it. I didn't know it was a sequel so I will be getting Candy Cane Kills soon to read about how it all began.
Our horror book club read Hark The Harold Angels Scream and I love it. It’s a collection of horror stories by different writers and honestly blew me away by all the creativity and fun locked inside the pages. Highly recommend it.
Snow is pretty entertaining. I agree with the people in your reading group, entertaining but not the best of his books. You should check out Bone White by him if you haven't read that.
😊😊🏆🏆 ❄️Happy National Gingerbread House and Poinsettia Day everyone❄️ Hope they make a Portrait of a Torn Woman,AD Infinitum,We Harvest Shadows, Still Wakes The Deep, Ironbark Lookout, Unknown Tapes, Tempus Triad, Incantation and Hollow Cocoon books(video game)
not really interested in XMAS at all BUT, currently reading A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER by MATT SHAW...a "Choose Your Own Adventure" interactive ebook! EXTREME XMAS!...actually, it's not quite as extreme as he usually gets, but still a fun ride
@teslagoth9401 I read it after it first came out bc a friend said oh you have to read this book it's SO good! I did and well, I told her later I'm not sure we read the same book. 😂🤦♀️
i can't get into reading seasonal things. i think it's bc i'm a mood reader. i'm gonna read Mary by nat cassidy around christmas. i'm currently struggling thru Everyone in my family has killed someone by benjamin stevenson which takes place during a winter family reunion ... it's a mystery book and it's kinda boring and making me roll my eyes 33 pages in still but like whateverrrr i have higher hopes for Mary by nat cassidy bc every booktuber i trust has praised nat cassidy at least once
Candy Cain Kills was so good! It is a typical slasher, but so much fun! And Candy Cain Kills Again (book 2) was just released as well. Happy reading!

I was really hoping for some Christmas deaths but I'm glad I know going into it. Thanks for the info!

Always look forward to your videos. Cheers from cold Canada -28C as I write this. Jealous of your warm weather and all the books
It’s -8C here in Toronto. You must be north of here or down east. Take care!

“It’s just about this frickin’ guy who gets visited by ghosts or whatever” (slightly paraphrased) I think that’s the funniest thing I’ve ever heard.
Mexican Gothic is a treat. Silvia Moreno-Garcias books "Untamed Shore", "Certain Dark Things", and "Silver Nitrate" are worth a read.
Second Silver Nitrate. That one made me a fan of her work!

You always come through with the Christmas horror recommendations!!
Mexican Gothic!!! So interested to see what you think!
I loved your list, but I REALLY loved your sweatshirt...I'm a Watsky fangirl too ❤
I'm reading 25 days by Per Jacobsen. It's a horror advent book. You read a chapter per day and it ends on chirstmas.
I just read Candy Cane Kills Again and really enjoyed it. I didn't know it was a sequel so I will be getting Candy Cane Kills soon to read about how it all began.
I really enjoyed Candy Cain Kills and just started the sequel tonight. Hope you enjoy it!
I would be in your book club 😂
Our horror book club read Hark The Harold Angels Scream and I love it. It’s a collection of horror stories by different writers and honestly blew me away by all the creativity and fun locked inside the pages. Highly recommend it.
Dang! I've definitely come across this one this season but I didn't end up picking it up.
@ it’s so good! Drop everything and get it. I’m telling you it’s got some good stuff in it
I don’t know if you read The Christmas Guest by Peter Swanson it’s a Christmas mystery Novella 😊but I enjoyed it
The Godfather is so good.
Love your bookshelves. Is this a bookstore or library?
I believe I will note these down but then go old school and read Stephen King's the shining first. It's wintery
Snow is pretty entertaining. I agree with the people in your reading group, entertaining but not the best of his books. You should check out Bone White by him if you haven't read that.
I have read a few of his books and Bone White has been my favourite so far. I found "Come with me" to be very overrated and couldn't finish it.
I just finished Halloween party too and I was upset, definitely not one of her best. Lol I also can't pronounce his name lol
Hercule Poirot - pronounced Herk-yule Pworrow!

I’m reading The last Noel by Heather Graham almost done it’s just ok so far.
That's how I've felt about all the horror thrillers I've year so far this year. Hopefully we can find some good ones.
not really interested in XMAS at all BUT, currently reading A CHRISTMAS TO REMEMBER by MATT SHAW...a "Choose Your Own Adventure" interactive ebook! EXTREME XMAS!...actually, it's not quite as extreme as he usually gets, but still a fun ride
Mexican Gothic was super boring
What about NOS4A2 for the season?
I didn't like it either.
It was in my top 3 worst books of the year
@teslagoth9401 I read it after it first came out bc a friend said oh you have to read this book it's SO good! I did and well, I told her later I'm not sure we read the same book. 😂🤦♀️
I enjoyed Mexican Gothic. I can see why it's not for everyone though.
While I loved Mexican Gothic I can understand why some won't like it. That said NOS4A2 is perfect for the holiday season.

Mary is awesome! One of the best books I’ve read this year
