The Toyota C-HR トヨタ C-HR, Hepburn: Toyota Shīeichiāru is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Toyota. The development of the car began in 2013, led by Toyota chief engineer Hiroyuki Koba. The production version of the C-HR was unveiled at the March 2016 Geneva Motor Show and started production in November 2016. It was launched in Japan on 14 December 2016.It went on sale in Europe, Australia, South Africa and North America in early 2017, and in Southeast Asia, China and Taiwan in 2018. The name C-HR can stand for either Compact High Rider, Cross Hatch Run-about[4] or Coupe High Rider.
Initial production was in Japan and Turkey. The 2018-2020 model year North American-spec C-HR are imported from Turkey
Japan
In Japan, the C-HR is sold at all Toyota dealership sales channels (Toyota Store, Toyopet Store, Corolla Store and Netz). The Japanese market C-HR is powered by either 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, or 1.8-litre Hybrid. The FWD models are available with both engines, while the only motor for the AWD models is 1.2-litre turbo. Model grades are S, S-LED, G, S-T and G-T. Models S, S-LED, G are powered with a 1.2-litre turbo engine, while other models by a 1.8-litre Hybrid. LED Package is exclusive for the G and S-LED packages.
Asia
The Thai-built C-HR with 1.8-litre 2ZR-FBE or 2ZR-FE engine is sold in certain Asian countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei. The ASEAN production version was unveiled in Thailand on November 30, 2017, at the 34th Thailand International Motor Expo. For the Indonesian market, the C-HR was launched on April 10, 2018. The Hybrid version was also displayed in Indonesia at the 2017 and 2018 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Shows, and went on sale on April 22, 2019.
For the Chinese market, the C-HR is sold by GAC Toyota, while its twin model sold by FAW Toyota is called the IZOA (Chinese: 奕泽; pinyin: Yìzé). The IZOA features a front bumper grille with horizontal lines instead of mesh on the C-HR. Both the C-HR and IZOA were revealed at the Auto Guangzhou in November 2017 and went on sale in April 2018. The electric vehicle (EV) variant of both the C-HR and IZOA were unveiled at the 18th Auto Shanghai on April 16, 2019, as the first battery electric vehicle in Toyota's upcoming lineup.
Europe
Similar to Japan, the C-HR for Europe can be purchased with either 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, a 1.8-litre Hybrid or with 2.0-liter Hybrid. 6-speed manual transmission is only installed in the front-wheel-drive 1.2-litre turbo; the sole gearbox for the 1.2-litre turbo AWD and the Hybrid is a CVT.
Trim levels vary across countries. In the UK, they are Icon, Design, Excel and Dynamic. For the French market, there are even more marketing name variations such as Active, Dynamic, Edition, Graphic, Distinctive and Collection.
Australia
For the Australian market, the C-HR is only offered with the 1.2-litre, 8NR-FTS turbo motor. The base model is available in manual transmission as a FWD only, automatic transmission models may be FWD or AWD. The high level Koba model is available in both FWD and AWD variants. The gearbox for the base model is a choice of 6-speed manual transmission or CVT with 7-speed simulated gear. The Koba comes with CVT only, and is equipped with LED headlights, leather seats, heated front seats, and smart entry and start system.
North America
Unique for the North American C-HR is the bigger 2.0-litre 3ZR-FAE naturally aspirated petrol engine which is matched to a CVT gearbox. In North America, it was originally planned to be sold as a Scion before that marque was discontinued. The 2018 model year was only available in either the XLE or XLE Premium model. For the 2019 model year, the C-HR is available in LE, XLE, XLE Premium or Limited models.

I bought a CH-R Nightshade edition a couple of months ago. It’s pretty cool to see how they’re built. I believe, in my opinion, that Toyota is the best vehicle builder in the world. They’re almost bulletproof from breakdowns and are affordable cars and trucks that last a very long time.

@@allistergraham6704 yes bro reliable but i ment the solid body build of Volvo cars how heavy they feel and safe for crashes, lets be real the Battery on the Hybrids are heavy so Toyota must save on weight to remain the fuel usage as low as possible, dont google and think what they say you have to see and feel for yourself the motor reliability is maybe better but are you willing to get more risk in death in trade for low Fuel usage not that Toyota isnt safe tough.

Great, where can I get a free transmission upgrade - to get rid of the faulty 2018 K114 transmission that Toyota in Turkey installed. Either a real automatic or the Corolla K120 CVT? So many with bad variator bearing in the first gen C-HR.
That’s what I was about to say. Just had our transmission completely replaced a couple of months ago and already having to take it back in for shifter issues. 😡😡😡
@@craiglillard Had the transmission fluid flushed at 30k miles. No problems - only have just under 32k miles on it. 2018 XLE ruby red-r code (white roof).
Hi, Don't know when Toyota changed their CVT to a system that doesn't use pulleys and drive belts any more. The gearing is now done via a planetary gear arrangement. Hopefully those commenting on transmission issues haven't encountered them on the latest system, as I have a (2023 model) C-HR on order !

Quite impressive how todays cars are built but at what cost? jobs obviously are one but also what about the fact Turkey is supporting Russia's terrible onslaught with Ukraine.
Turkiye is not supporting Russia or any other war, terrorist attacks . They can continue to make some business which does not mean supporting.
The C-HR is a good looking vehicle, but unfortunately the drivetrain we get in the U.S. blows. Its simple and will be easy enough to work on someday, but honestly the only thing this vehicle has going for it is the fact that its still new and will probably be reliable...except for that variator bearing issue that requires the whole transmission to be replaced. I have a 1998 toyota camry that ive been fixing up and despite its age, wear, and issues I think I enjoy driving that car more than I do driving my C-HR.
USA really needs the 2 litre hybrid power train option - best power unit choice for a C - HR

EU version with 1.8L engine is just fine. Some countries have penalty taxes for vehicles with 2 liter engines. which they consider ostentatious and are taxed as "luxury" vehicles. .

@@mattdomingo4504 I had 89.4 mpg out of my 2.0L last weekend. There's very little difference between the 1.8 and 2.0 apart from power. I agree with Lee, the 2.0L is the best way to go with the C-HR.

My wife and I own a 2021 C-HR. Love it but it's the last Toyota we'll buy. If you can't keep selling C-HRs in America and invest in us by doing so, why should we stay Loyal and invest in you? I'd rather have the Prologue that the F*cking ugly Yaris or Corolla cross !!

Hi, I have a Toyota C-HR GR Sport 2.0l, 2021. It is OK, good engine, but I have a great problems with 5th door - cracking from the back, still the dealer in BG could not clear the problem, also a problem with the side mirrors - second time they refuse to fold, repaired once, but still the problem stays, also a slight crack from the steering wheel. The plastics inside easily scratches, not good quality😪. I am at 27000 km and still all the problems stay 😪. Not satisfied, especially at price of 39 000 euro I consider the quality awful. Turkey is not good, do not buy...really
