    Never met a person that didn’t know watts is volts multiplied by amps. Some people actually calls watts “volt amps”. Amazing.

    You never checked the potential between the positive and grey, nor between the negative and grey. Can’t imagine why you never thought of that the supply says it also produces a low voltage of 5 volts. Most likely you will see 5v from the grey wire. And when you connect it up to your 12 volts, it’s messing BIG time with the internal resistance of your power supply and F’ing your power supply up. Don’t use the grey wire. 14v is likely the 12 volts intended output. This is common to see, an over-voltage. It’s cheating, for weak power supplies powering proprietary equipment, because the moment you put a load on it, the voltage will drop. So they are trying to get ahead of that. Either that or the engineer designing the power supply has no skill and can’t draw a diagram with a stable enough internal resistance to handle the intended load.
