I would say I’m neutral on Tonelico despite my issue with her being not only a anni servant, but also a summer servant. But my biggest issue with the anni is that there was no significant QOL and after last year anniversary and the rewards they gave out it make this imo disappointing . Sure not the worst anniversary but holy shit the amount of hype and hope for quality context made it one of, if not the most disappointing Anniversary ever
completely agree. im a huge fan of the lb6 cast and i actually really like aesc/morgan. but the lack of QOL, animation updates, or like ANY new changes is a crime.
Yeah there seemed to be so much buildup with the dual streams and the awesome animation they put out. The community was expecting something way more exciting than what we got.

No UI changes, coin system rework, account system, story replay, bond CE adjustments, etc. Notthing was done and yet theyll continue to do the bare minimum because these next 2 month theyll be financial highs. So sad man
The biggest misstep was how they hyped up the celebration on NA as though we were going to get something big; maybe even something at the same time as JP, and then… it was just an early Dantes buff, basically. And a bunch of announcements of stuff we already knew was coming. It was a total bait and switch. As for Tonelico, my personal impression is that she feels like an extremely unimaginative choice. One made just because Morgan is popular so let’s crank out another version of her on top of all the other LB6 characters getting swimsuits this year. She’s not a popular NPC everyone wanted to finally become playable like Camazotz or Olga, and she’s not some out-of-nowhere choice designed to hint at future storylines the way Castoria was. But hey, at least the strengthenings this year have been crazy good. And that anime music video they made.
@@sathariel3231 it can’t be famitsu. The poll questions for it were sent out and tallied before the anniversary even started. So she isn’t even on there. Most wanted servant in the poll is skaadi summer btw in terms of existing servants (btw arcueid, last year’s anni servant, is #5 on that poll) Most requested character to be made a servant is Ciel
See here is the thing, if they saved the Ordeal call rewards that has like crap ton of grails, gold fous, lores etc until anni people would not have been this disappointed. I have no idea who decided to not save these for later especially considering they didn't have much more to offer.
I mean, more rewards will always make the ani feel better, but that won't solve tha lack of content, QoL updates and other problems that this ani (or the game in general) has. If I could, I would spend paid quatz to get story replay. Getting more mats to level more servants is always nice, but there is no point if the game itself doesn't improve. And it's not like we should be waiting for ani to get content or rewards, anniversary should be an extra celebration independent to the rest of the content in the game, it wouldn't make much sense to get less stuff during the rest of the year just so we get comparatively more during ani to make it feel more special. But yeah, it would have probably been a good idea for them to delay those rewards a bit to avoid part of the disappointment from the ani, although it wouldn't have solved the problem, just made people notice it less

The inclusion of Tonelico and the absence of whatever servant the community got themselves hyped up for is probably the least offensive thing about the anniversary tbh. It’s the lack of updates in every other department that’s disappointing. Cool, another unit to…farm hands and doors with. No interesting replayable content, no UI updates, no animation updates, nothing to keep their 8 year old game fresh. Just a new SSR to drain people’s wallets.
@@AromaticViolet They are not continuing playing, just open FGO JP today and look at how many bots are in the support list. We always had bots in the game but they are only more visible cause less people are logging in the game. The Famitsu magazine also has shown that only 1.9% of players have joined in this year, the least growth the game ever has and I suspect that the game has been bleeding players. That might explain why they added the new GSSR this year, to maximize profit from the few people left as they have given up trying to get new players and have the game grow.
I also have a problem with very few QOL updates. Absolutely nothing was changed with the UI, general gameplay etc. And there's a lot that can be changed.
Remember 3 years ago when we got the wide screen "fix" and they said that it was still work in progress and more updates were coming? Yeah, they kind of swept that under the rug. The UI still scales like garbage, with the weirdly stretched lower menus.

Tonelico and summer morgan being one units just seems so bad to me, tonelico loses her third ascension design and morgan loses her first, second and fa art
I think Tonelico/Aesc as a Servant is really interesting because she reflects the Spring, Summer, & Fall memories of Morgan, but also the idea probably would have been better saved for the event banners. For example, maybe the event could explore Aesc's character further. I personally really enjoyed the information in her biography about the Rain clan and her upbringing, for one, but that too would have been a concept better shown than just told outright to us.
Having Tonelico and Castoria back to back is just too much Saberface too close together. Also we got a lot less SQ than previous years IIRC and no SR or SSR ticket which definitely makes this feel a lot worse than previous years.
Oof no tickets I was expecting two or three tickets cus its the 8th anniversary like they gave ssr tickets in the fifth and sixth and ce and sr tickets in the seventh so I was hoping they will give three this year or just ssr and sr ones 💀
I think this is the biggest issue rather than the characters themselves. They could have asked a guest artist to redraw Tonelico or Castoria, similar to how WADARCO redrew all of the original Takeuchi designs in Fate Extra CCC and Extella, giving them her own spin.
This whole anniversary feels like advertisement to build up hype for the summer event, which looks like Lostbelt 6 part 4 - beach episode. Also please Lasagne bring back Animation Updates, there are so, so many servants that still need them
Funny how they hyped the whole thing with things they never did like the simultaneous NA stream and bringing a popular vtuber to "collab" just to do one of the most empty anniversaries, only the PV felt like a proper anniv. thing Also i don't know of to feel about the obvious LB6 pandering, yeah, the story is popular, but seeing how they were careless enough to put a LB6 servant after 2 years of its release in the anniversary spot and the new LB6 only summer (Chloe and Suzuka feel like filler to not be that blatant), is too much, even LB7 cast was completely forgotten by the game (not even a dramalogue) after its release because of it
It's still depressing that there are still characters with day 1 animations and some of them are SSRs like Ozymandias, obviously there are characters like David and Big G that still look garbage.

100%. I've been farming on Nero Fest and need a specific servant from friend support to do the 90+ node. Unfortunately, only about three of my friends have that servant. So, I'm stuck refreshing for literal minutes because I refresh, see the servant isn't there, and have to wait ten seconds to be able to refresh again. Then, for whatever reason, the game only shows some of your friends' support servants and not all of them. So, even if your friend is online, their servants may not appear unless you refresh 20 times. Also, what even is the purpose of the delay? And, when we're farming, why do we have to stop and pick a new servant each time? Why can't we keep the same support servant over each replay of the node until we leave it?
As an NA player, I was a bit disappointed only because I keep holding out hope for animation updates but I think it's time I just stop. RIP Proto Cu, Jeanne, and Jalter AUs
This anniversary just felt like a random event with its new servant and some quartz, but with the difference that events at least have some content Like we've had random events that have been way more exciting than this anniversary This just was: here take some quatz, have this new (summer) servant to pull, get the classic gssr, and now you can get some old CEs in the mana prism shop, and there you go, be grateful
The fact that they also did the NA stream and all that just made it worse by increasing the later disappointment, but even without that it was incredibly disappointing
@@mihneadragu1116 not really surprised. I don't know which event it was, but the requirement to do the story missions was the lostbelt chapter clear, but the free quests were available for everyone who cleared Fuyuki
The anni servant doesn't really matter to me, there's always a new toy for us. What's disheartening is the lack of anything of substance, to improve the game, the new player experience, the lack of replayability (story replay), AU/UI updates. This game has so many awesome boss designs but none of them are available to test your new units on. Story replay wouldn't even be hard to implement, the files are in the game, the UI is there, just add it to the free quest map or archive the story stages as main interlude.
I don't like how they gimped the normal GSSR by taking out units from the first four years. It feels like they're pushing you to the double the price deluxe GSSR. They also left out Draco, who is "conveniently" front and center on the actual banner for the new deluxe GSSR. There is some nice stuff in the Anni but, it's pretty much little things. Like in Anni 6 we a free 5 star for free. Anni 7 we got to choose between the two best CE's in the game for free. And this year we get Golden Sumo MLB (Don't get wrong great CE) for 5K Mana Prisms. It doesn't help that because they just gave us a whole bunch of Mana and Rare prisms some of these QOL are less impactful. I'm not a fan of LB6 summer because it means that everyone who wants something else more or aren't fans of LB6 are stuck with the leftover crumbs. So to have LB6 not only dominate summer but also take the Anni servant slot is dissapointing. I do think LB6 is so popular that it deserves some real estate in summer, I just wished they added a couple units every year. Tonelico looking exactly like Castoria when there about to release Summer Castoria in like two to three weeks is also kind of dumb to me. To end on a high note, the memorial video was awesome.
I agree but like, Tonelico was always gonna look like Castoria, she used the same sprite as Castoria's 2nd ascension in the story but with a black ribbon and wooden staff.
@@Isshikishikishi Yeah I agree. My problem isn't her design (outside of the whole hybrid summer unit thing.) I'd say my grievance comes the window of her release knowing that Summer Castoria is coming very soon. Summer is already so LB6 dominated it's a shame to also see it affect the Anni servant and she looks just like a unit we're about to get. I think I could've phrased it a little better in the original post.
They really didn't add any real updates to the game. Banners are nice but they don't fix or add much once they are gone. The game has been going through this since they made events 3 weeks long regardless of if they are good or not like the paul event. More time yet somehow they do less Rainbow chain the bronze servants those were some of the better annies in updates

@@ivanbluecool It's not that they can't fix coins, it's that they don't want to. Right now, you're encouraged to roll for more copies of a servant if you want to max appends. For an SSR, this means rolling a 6th copy you have no use for, just to max append and 120. That's a lot more money they can get out of whales. If they fixed it in any way that discourages rolling more copies, it would lead to profit loss and Lasengle cares even more about profit than DW ever did, because they're under more direct management from Aniplex now. And we all know how greedy Aniplex is, just look at their box set anime release prices.

@@slaine7874 whales are a small part of the community and we see how they quit when they either maximize or burn out on the game. It's not good to try and say this is smart. If it was np 5 bond 1-15 for max servant it would have been fine as 5 is the max and that's what it should have been. Same with changing the "pity" system with the cores should have been given at np 3 and higher so it could be useful for whales or super lucky f2p and dophins. They are lazy and have always been lazy. Less events and somehow people think they do more when they do less with more time which is an insult compared to other games that do more with less
I would say that this is the worst Anni ever by far, we come from at least 9 months of no animation updates, where they are doing far less events; all around they are working less than ever and the anniversary have literally 0 QoL. They just have some free stuff but did not fix anything meaningless with the game
Basically three different saberfaces, second ascension Tonelico being near identical replica of Castoria but the most disappointing of all was giving new voice lines to servants and giving players hope of AU bunch after a year without any
lmao should they not give characters new voice lines for myroom because they don't update animations, it's completely different. Also I don't know why anyone expected a bunch of AUs during Anniversary, Anni servant, 2 Summer SSRs, 4 Summer SRs, 1 welfare, that's 8 characters in a 3 week period for a game that has released 16 in the prior 7 months. It's a real shame people lack simple common sense.

I was excited for Summer Castoria but Aesc/Tonelico being released right after her was too much. I thought them sharing a sprite in LB6 was a clever gimmick to show the parallels and differences of their respective journeys as Avalon le Fae. But with this we essentially got two more versions of Castoria 2: Electric Boogaloo and one random as hell Summer Morgan ascension. Instead of a proper Aesc or a proper Summer Morgan, we got a mess that mashed both together and guarantees neither of those will happen. I would have been fine with Aesc showing up later on another event (maybe one that showcases younger/Lily variants). But it just doesn’t feel good to have this weird amalgamation as the anniversary servant. I wasn’t even expecting U Olga Marie like many others were and was still let down. Also, I’m annoyed that Oberon is just as popular as Castoria and Morgan but can’t get a shiny new version like they can just because he’s male. They already have 50+ female Summer Servants but still refuse to give one to a guy after eight years? They don’t even have the paper-thin excuse of “guys don’t sell” since Oberon printed them so much money. Tons of other gacha games have no problem with male summer units so I really don’t understand the hangup when a proper Summer Oberon would have made them serious bank.
I’m just gonna start off by saying I personally would be fine if they wanted to make say 1 summer banner be all Male servants and the other Female. That’s all good. BUT. From my personal perspective as someone who whales heavily. I would almost never spend money summoning for a Male swimsuit servant. A normal male servant sure, swimsuit/summer No. Not because I don’t like the male servants, because I do especially Cu he’s awesome. But I just have no interest in summoning for what is essentially a fan service version of a dude servant, that I probably already have the original of. The only way would be if they were broken skill and gameplay wise. Because a male servants appearance and aesthetic just doesn’t really hold much weight in my eyes, it’s usually all their personality, I mean the last time I was “wowed” by a male servants appearance was probably when they dropped SSJGOD Karna’s spiritron dress as well as Godjuna. So like I said I’m just not gonna care for a summer male servant based off of aesthetic alone. They’d need to be OP for me to even look twice. Contrast this with female servants, even if their kit is trash, or I’m just not that big of a fan of them, as long as they have at least an ascension I think is cool or that I find pretty I’ll probably roll for them. Nobu was a good example, I never cared for the Archer version that much, and really don’t care about the first 2 ascensions on Avenger Nobu. But final Ascension Avenger Nobu is one of the coolest looking characters in the game to me. So I got her. This is probably fairly shallow and Monkey brained of me, but it is what it is. And unfortunately I’d be willing to bet there is a chunk of players who wether they’d admit it or not do think the same way. And it’s unfortunately probably the line of thinking for why they don’t think male summer servants will sell as well. Though I’d be willing to bet despite monkey brained individual’s like myself, male SS servants would sell just fine. So yeah sure regular Oberon was a massive success and even I’d be willing to bet a summer version would also sell well, but I know I wouldn’t spend for him, not unless he was broken. But again that’s just my opinion and I’m sure there are others who think the same way even if they don’t want to admit it and look like bit of a dick. BUT like I said earlier I still think they should make male summer servants even if they wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

NO AU, NO UI Update, New Servant basically being Summer Servant (Also Castoria 2), Very Obvious " Silhouettes ", very needed and old KOTRT Costumes, TWO GSSRs, No new game mechanics, Only limited Skill/NP Upgrades, The usual rewards (half which should be a given), ZERO low star units, not to mention no news abour Story either. Also MID CQs and Rewards. NGL It seems that they are not trying anymore. Sure, they did the whole physical event AND the Memorial Movie but I'm fucking sure they have gotten more money thant needed from us for that (specially how underpaid animators are in Japan). It's not unusual for whales to waste 5k each on a banner and not to mention JP fans are hardcore AF so they must waste even more. I'm, hontely, tired of pretending Lasengle/Aniplex is doing a good job, because it's not.
Honestly, it isn’t really any of the servants they add that bothers me or anything. In fact i really like Aesc/Summer morgan. But the main problem is how clearly lazy lasengle is regarding the actual GAME. No new game systems or gamemodes, battle system changes, UI changes (besides more filters wooo), ANIMATION UPDATES, etc. Literally the only “new” things we got were another more expensive gssr and 20% bond on frontline, how awesome.
someone already mentioned this, but they literally made class score for Ordeal Call and they really should have delay that and released it on anniv to make it seem like its a lot of updates. Honestly kind of a stupid decision from a business standpoint by Lasengle but Nasu's words are still top priority i guess.
For as much as it was hyped this anniversary was terrible. It was a huge let down. Obviously we got more than in the very early anniversary but I think as far as disappointments it was close to NA's 1st Anniversary level bad. They had so much hype and coming off of an amazing 7th anniversary it was bad. I hope they lost some money on this because they need to be aware this was bad.
So sad for shakespeare, still having caster ball while getting no buffs Other 2* caster are hans who got an awesome au and multiple buffs, other is chen gong who is top tier farming, a taunt unit and a buster sp just to, most of the time, replace shakespeare himself. Honestly, shakespeare suffering in fgo is more tragic than romeo and juliet story
Worst anni in terms of QoL, but i think its the best Anni so far in terms of buffs. Just a few days in we already get a bunch of buffs that completely make garbo servants usable again. Especially salter.

Maybe for a newb who has nothing going on but for anyone else shes a waste of time. 20% charge is poopoo, even oberon couldnt make her 3 turn without scope and her mana burst was 1 turn lmao. This new update fixed all of that and even enable her to use BG to compete in damage. Her charisma is still shit but it is what it is.
Looking at yhe memorial movie, i had high hopes for the 8th anniversary Imagine my disappointment when the anni servant os just Castoria 2: Summer Bogaloo, especially since Summer Castoria was revealed before. No new non gameplay update like UI updates, Animation updates, and more And the summer is basically just LB 6, i dont even know why Kuro and Suzuka are in them, might aswell have summer Habetrot or something. Also also, the spiritron dresses, though very cool, is waaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue, and the worst part? BEDIVERE didnt even get his!!!
As much as I love the guy skins this year, they really are the laziest picks they could have gone with. The designs for these have been around for 4+ years. They didn't have to be creative or incentive, they just had to rig the sprites to a design that was made years ago. And Oberon, good god they did my boy dirty. For an SSR, his skin is just supremely disappointing. I hope he gets a 3rd ascension version that is more detailed.
There was way too much hype that they absolutely fumbled hard. If they had only planned to do what they did, they should not have invested in that week long of videos. And I think even worse, NA absolutely should not have been any part of this. It's pretty obvious now that they pushed nerofest off so that people would come to their stream in anticipation of something incredible. This was the first year they acknowledged JP was even having an anniversary, and we got translated PVs too. It had all the markings of something huge for us, and then nothing interesting happened. It was 3.5 hours of "here's what we did on our vacation" and then 30 minutes of "game news" covering things we already knew was coming; summer, back to school, etc. Not a single QoL from either server that makes a lick of difference to this extremely aged game's gameplay. All in all, the hype they generated ruined what would have just been a lukewarm anniversary.
1. Make the pure prism shop reset monthly or bi monthly 2. Give us Pure prisms from Doing SQ gacha 3. Give Free servant coins to servants that are in the current event 4. Make the pity 400sqs or less and make it a step up system (after the first copy you need like 1500 or 2000 to get np5 guaranteed 5. Make more supports to meta teams (Castoria, Koyan, Oberon shouldn't be as needed as they are rn) These are some of the things they could do to make the game wayyy more comfortable to play
Part of the disappointment was because of the wild expectations NA set for themselves, I saw a lot of talk regarding a server merge, dozens of animation updates, Ani 8 servant being released on both servers simultaneously, etc. However if we ignore those ridiculous expectations, players disappointment is still justified. There were no QOL updates, no bond fix, no servant coin fix, Quick is still lacking, etc. FGO really needs to hire more staff, they are severely lacking in man power. They either refuse to hire new talent, or have job postings that have been up for nearly 3 years now that haven’t been filled (example is a UI expert)
I would say this is the worst. The older Annis at least had some basic QoL improvements. Anni 1 added the grail system which is to this day one of the best systems in the game and some basic animation updates (which have aged poorly but were nice at the time) Anni 8 added nothing long term to the game. It's just ROLL MORE TODAY! Also FGO is more out of date than ever, they really should not be skipping on improvements
I also think like a lot of people said that they kinda shot themselves in the foot by releasing the the Class Score system with Ordeal Call. I'm guessing all the players would be going crazy if it was fully, blindly released with the Anniversary instead.
Im ok with Tonelico as a anniversary servant and the fact that Lasenge seem to move her out of summer just to prevent a new 3 Ssr summer is way to obvious. My real disapointment is with the almost 0 QoL that they implement, like really just more filters and that's it?? UI need a major overhaul not just crumbs and also it looked like they knew it was going to be messy since they threw a smoke NA stream just at the same time because let's face it that stream should have been live the day before the JP one.
This game worries me there have been some really cool stuff like arcade collab and ordeal call with class score but the game just feels like it’s going down hill. I thought the anni was gonna be hype like usual but nope we got practically nothing but a character that a lot of ppl find a bit disappointing.
I would say I dislike this Anni. Firstly, I love Aecs/Tonelico, she is good girl and she deserves all the love and attention. What I don't like is the entire Anniversary itself. I don't need them to introduce game-breaking unit, we already have a bunch of them already, even in NA. What I want is some improvement in Quality of Life, animation update (We haven't got one for over a year now), UI update (the game run with 2016 standard is absurd), better filter (I don't have to spend so much time to search a Servant or CE), level up a unit while in line-up and I don't have to quit out of the level, pressing a bunch of button to level up my unit. This game is 8 year-old yet nothing really "change" about it. They don't have to change the entire core game-play, I just want to see some improvement. Truly a Lasengle moment
Honestly, massive missed opportunity to give us bond 16+ as an answer to both their garbage servant coin system as well as the current issue of bond cap. It's especially annoying that we got this new bond gain bonus for frontline servants, but the bond cap is still in place. More or less Lasagna telling us "if your favorite(s) are already capped, get fucked." Lots of QoL things they could've done but opted not to for god only knows why. I'm looking forward to the LB6 summer and some of the summer versions of LB6 cast, but I'd be lying if I said 8th Anni didn't leave me pretty disappointed. I wasn't really even on the Olga/Camazotz hype train either, I just wanted Lasagna to acknowledge some of the game's existing issues at the very least.
So true, my castoria is bond 15 more than a year now so any new aoe arts looper either i skip them or i roll and can't even use them due to max bond castoria lol
I’m neutral on Tonelico as well (although her kit does seem interesting for multi core and stall). One thing to support Myst’s “Nasu wanted LB6 summer idea” is that it seems like there’s only 2 Summer banners this year compared to last year (apparently JP had a lot of backlash for that due to lack of SQ). So instead the made Tonelico A3 be Summer Morgan to keep 2 summer banners while also being able to have 3 summer 5 stars.

Nasu revealed 1.5 years ago, a bit after LB6, that he was going to write a summer story. He simply does what he wants. Tonelico is going to be a big part of that story and it seems that Berserker Morgan turns back into Tonelico, until she eventually turns back during what I guess is the climax. Probably some proper closure for Morgan regarding how her story ended, which is something she never got in LB6 and never really addressed. Her end was tragic.
My problem with the Aesc / summer Morgan fusion is that it feels like we've been robbed of both Aesc's 3rd ascension, and summer Morgan's 1st and 2nd ascension. Would I roll for a proper Aesc? YES Would I roll for a proper S.Morgan? NO So now what should have been a must roll for me has become a complete MAYBE. Other than that, the only good things this anniversary gave us was the bond thing and the old CEs in the shop. Also, the destiny summon thing should cost 15 paid sq imo
@@chkheto2225 I agree with this, since both asc1 and asc2 are different stages of Tonelico's life, the only remaining one we know of is the Morgan we already know, so even if it wasn't summer Morgan, it would still be Morgan. Tho I definetely don't mind Tonelico, I really like Morgan, so I would never complain with another one. The only thing I was kinda bummed was Nasu revealing in the Famitsu magazine that UOM will never be summonable :(
I feel like they KNEW going into the anniversary that they didn't have anything good prepared, which is why they focused so heavily on summer information this year. Now we have every summer servant revealed except for the welfare, so what's even the point of having a summer stream later? I keep getting my hopes up for animation updates, and every time a banger story chapter drops like LB7 I start to think that things are looking up, but it's the same old lasagna that would rather try to milk as much money as possible out of swimsuit servants than give love to older servants. At the very least the destiny summon system is neat but that's it.
2 features I was hoping to get deep down before all of this, 3 Pure Prism per day by completing Daily Quests like how they give us 3 Mats tickets per Quest and refresh the Pure Prism Shops. But I guess dreams will stay dreams with this game
I said this in another comment section, but it bears repeating. No animation updates and no coin system fix at this point is pathetic in my opinion. The problem with the coin system was evident from the start and they said they would fix it an eternity ago, why not take a chance as obvious as the anniversary for that? It's the kind of thing that personally makes me lose trust in the devs and brings me closer to quitting.
Pretty sober thoughts, honestly. I do think it's pretty inexcusable that we haven't gotten proper QOL/UI improvements when there is SOOO much that is bad on that front, and that the community has been complaining about for years. FGO's UI and UX is D-tier compared to something like Arknights, even though they run on the same engine. And there's also a bunch of servants with really bad animations that they refuse to update anymore as well. I didn't mind the Destiny Summon, since that's probably the most generous with GSSRs they have been as far as getting servants you want, but it looks scummy when the only major "improvement" they add is temporary and profit-motivated.
I was fine with castoria summer being released. But then they next day they released a summer servant disguised as an anni servant when that spot could have gone to so many other characters. Why can’t summer Morgan just be a 4*? Why can’t she be a welfare? On top of this summer being lost belt 6 part 4. I love lostbelt 6 and I’m very much looking forward to the summer story but it definitely feels like nasu came in and did a hostile takeover for anni and summer and blew all the budget on the character production without giving decent QOL. And as if that wasn’t enough, the NA side of the livestream was embarrassing. All that stuff we got could have been in a pre recorded dev diary. It was seriously nothing special. They even had a countdown on the official Twitter NA account for JPs anniversary. Why??? They didn’t even talk about Jp’s anni when the livestream happened.
It’s definitely not what I expected for a huge 8th anniversary celebration, but I’m hoping that just means they’re putting their energy and effort into the events for the rest of the year
My issue with this is that it’s what we’ve been saying for like the past year and a half now. “it’s fine that they haven’t added any animation updates in a year, they’re saving their efforts for anni” “it’s fine that they stopped doing reruns they’re saving their efforts for anni” and now “it’s fine that anni (one of the biggest events of the year) was a bust they’re saving their efforts for… ???” Like what are they saving their efforts for? Story? They release like 2 chapters a year. Are they really going to shaft the rest of the game over bi annual releases. I just feel like we’re perpetually waiting for something that’s not gonna happen lol. I still like the game and the IP, but like, I’m under no illusions that something’s up with the development that isn’t really good.

They're really not gonna be putting any more work than necessary bruh. All their work goes into making new servants cause that's what brings in the money. Even the buffs which are one of the saving graces of this anni are mostly just battery
@@gtx7743 100%. I remember there was that interview with the new director, saying that they’re going to take it slow and try stuff out. I believed it and bought into the stoppage of rerun events and slowdowns of buffs and interludes as part of that “working things out” phase. Now I believe that they *are* past the slow phase, it’s just that their idea of a stable and healthy game is just stripping all of the “unessesary” stuff and leaving us with a barebones game. Just story and stuff that makes them more money.
The sad thing is that there is no more ascension costume for summer morgan and tonelico. Usually there is 3 form of ascension that progress every ascension to make a different form of costume. Summer morgan in the end only has one summer costume which kind of bummer and tonelico/aesc feel like kind of uncompleted by missing the third ascension so this combination makes me feel conflicted.

Anniversary servants always play prominent roles in Main Story. By making Morgan both the anni and the summer servant at the same time, and with the upcoming event written by Nasu, these facts tell you a lot on how important and main story focused this year's Summer event will be.
I fell like the 8th anniversary was very bare bones.. I would have like to see some animation updates! I think they forgotten about them completely... and Tonelico/summer morgan/whatever her name is has a nice hat on one of her ascensions so that good for me! :)
I think half of the people's disappointment with the 8th anniversary wouldn't exist if they had added at least one or two new good QoL. Even I, who loved Aesc/Tonelico as the anniversary servant, can't deny how weak and disappointing everything else was.
Worst? No. Best? No. Mid? Definitely. I'd also say that Tonelico as the Anniversary Servant isn't bad on its own, but announcing Summer Castoria the day before makes it feel like they couldn't think of an alternative servant than another Saber Face. Especially since we had one last year with Archtype Earth. Still will pull because of that 1st ascension though. Destiny Summon is definitely interesting, but I think it should be a permanent feature for people to use Quartz on. Let's people get certain servants instead of painfully waiting for a (maybe) banner rerun. I even got gripes on how the Story Summon banner works and think Destiny Summon can help with this, but that's another story. I have more negative criticism about the NA livestream during it tbh.
I don't hate Tonelico, in fact, i quite like her but...I was mad when I saw -what-I-thought-would-be the next Castoria when the banner dropped. I was confused and didn't knew wheather this is one of summer Castoria's asc's or what. So her being the anni servant is a little disappointing. But yeah, no AU's and QOL updates is what hurts the most.
The Good: 1. I actually like Destiny Order, I've been wanting something like it for a long time. 2. More importantly, the Strengthenings so far have been great. They may not be the craziest set out their (Salter notwithstanding) but they've all done the job they needed to do. The Bad: 3. Still no flipping coin fix. 4. I haven't heard anything about new Quartz-dumping missions, and that's terrible. 5. I do not like this new thing of slapping 1/3 of a Summer Servant onto 2/3 of a regular Servant, and yeah, I'll agree it's worse for the Anniversary Servant. It just feels like a cop out. Particularly disappointing for Summer Morgan. For Proto Merlin, I think it was more justified if only because we already had a regular Merlin, so she was already a variant. Still didn't like it exactly, but it didn't really bother me all that much either - at least not as much as the way she power-crept the original. If nothing else, I can finally forgive them for making Summer Ibuki as powerful as she is because they finally gave Mama Raikou her battery.
It a shame because I actually enjoy the anni stream and Memorial movies and that make me really hype about this then they review Tonelico which is fine I was hoping for her to be a playable servants in the future (i wish they gave her a non swimsuit 3rd ascension and give Morgan(Zerk) and Tonelico swimsuit costume in the summer event instead) but the most disappointing thing is that there is no good QOL, animation update, coin system improvement, bond ce improvement, story replay (don't even need a reward or drop just make it a 5 ap thing that people can choose to do for fun) , and please reduce the amount of mat you need for class skill tree thing like just one or two of those would be good enough for me but instead we got a bond increase thing that is nice but most of the time when I'm farming bond for servants I put the one that I want to farm bond in the backline unless they can clear/loop that stage that I'm farming some ce being put in a green shop and farming ce (Lunch time, tea time, Monalisa, etc) don't cost gold cube anymore -nice Golden Sumo return -okay Destiny summon that is too expensive (at least for me) Also why make a silhouette of Summer Tam Lin/Fae knights when it very easy to recognize who they were (sorry this is just me nitpicking now)
I do like most if not all the buff we are getting tho so that nice and the fact that I still have enough copium with in me to cope that they will add something outside of anni and instead add some QOL in download campaign enough rant for now I may be disappointed but not that much it just that they kinda hype up 8th Anni too much
I think if they release a massive animation update, people wouldn't be so mad. I really belive this year is gonna be that year cause many mobs got an animation update.
The lack of quality of life and animation updates is my main gripe, we have a random Jalter and Raikou banner coming up for NA so youd think it would be their turns to get AU's but nope.

Overhyping Anniversary Pick one, you can't overhype the supposedly most hype thing of the year. The only thing the fanbase (or at least a part of it) overhyped is the possibility of an NA catch up, but as a whole the expectations were mostly reasonable (like getting the new chains early or QOL like the blue apples early) instead it was a whole lot of nothing, early Dantes buff and that's it. This is not mentioning all the other problems with the anniversary as a whole like no AUs, no QOL, summer parasitizing the celebration, no replayable boss fights / similar long awaited features introduced.... There is no need to minimize the blame, they handled the anni poorly and that's that
My thoughts are destiny summon is a great idea but needs improvements, 8th anniversary servant was a weird choice, but most importantly its been 2 years now and still no coin system fix.

They could release Proto Gil or Strange Fake Alcides or Richard also even Hippolyta yet they don't. Probably to hold back until the event. Strange Fake has a lot of high ranking servants that not all going to be implemented. And they choose another Saberface just because Nasu writes this summer event and want to complement with it.
Can't wait for an proto theme event or maybe a collab? Bryn could get some love, ozy, para,serenity, proto cu, even arthur could get an au, jekyll get more buffs and au, new servants could be proto gil and perseus That would be a nice dream to have
The author of Strange Fake explicitly stated that He didn't want his servants in FGO until the story in the light novels are over, so no sense in expecting that. Aesc is fine, but i think pairing her up with a Summer Morgan ascension(therefore, diluting both her and S.Morgan) + the announcement that a new Castoria will already be in the next event might make people a bit salty, yes.
Camazotz would have saved the anniversary... But a copypaste of castoria/morgan... Really? Like that meme's already boring. Last anniv was 1000sq vs 180 this one. And no QoL, only a paid gacha.
Tonelico is neat, far as I'm concerned. She is essentially Morgan Lily. And an odd take on it, at that. Unlike most Lily Servants, she doesn't seem to have any of the knoledge of her future life. The Rain Witch doesn't seem to know about The Savior or the Queen. The Savior is later in life, and knows the Rain Witch, but still not the Queen. And the Queen seems to think of it all as a nostalgic memory. The stages are almost completely segmented. From a Lore point of view, it's kinda fascinating.
I wish they gave use link account and a soft pity. The anniversary servant is ok (ain't no Olga 😭) and kinda wish we atleast got a "pick your 4* servant". The gssr thing is nice(but can't use it do to region restriction). Also wish they optimize their game better instead of cutting off older models(still can't even get into the fight with ort because of it).
The biggest disappointment to me was how Oberon, one of the male servants that has given lasagna the most money couldn't escape the "only skins for guys" curse and received a skin that makes him look like a grandma. He was also on the top 1 most requested servant to get a swimsuit alongside 2nd place Muramasa (my favourite) another crucial character in lostbelt 6 story (in my opinion they did him a bit dirty ngl) I simply don't get why they are always asking "which guys do you want to receive a summer alt" if they'll never release one (it's been 8 years) and even if I've been playing this game for less than two years, it's simple sickening to me how they've constantly shit on male servants in general. The pain of playing this game for the guys is chronic at this point 😢

The All Avalon summer leak seemed so fake, and now it looks true. I’m happy for Suzuka, but if she and Chloe are the only non LB6 servants this year, I’ll be a little bummed. They usually do such a good job balancing out the units.
This year Anniversary was sort of lead down. We used to have more SQs. As much I like Saber face, I felt that summer Morgan should had kept in summer event and leave anniversary with someone else such as Ulga Marie.
One of the worst no joke, no new low stars servants, not much free quartz, no game updates, destiny order is just a low low cry to grab more money, and the worst of it all is a summer servant for anniversary, they missed haaard this time 👎👎👎
I think this anni is meant to be a JP wetdream, and here are my arguments: 1- we all know they make the game for JP and just translate stuff for us, it's nothing new; 2-JP loves both Morgan and Lb6, so they getting everything they like/wanted in one package was probably nice for them (hence why they got to top 1 sales VERY quickly 💀💀) (Some data to back my 2nd claim) From the 7th anniversay poll and 2022 player data, Morgan was the 5* servant that was lvld to 120 the most (Melusine second) and the same result was found for "Most servant lvld to 120 after part chapter 2 part 6" (Meaning after Lb6). (Bonus: Kiyohime berserker was the 3* servant that got lvld to 120 the most, LONG LIVE KIYO SUPREMACY) Castoria and Morgan were 1st and 2nd place for "best valentine buddies 2022"; Morgan was the 5th servant to get the most buddy points (I think it means friend points?) in 2022 and was also 2nd place in the "player predictions of servant to get a swimsuit next year, while Castoria was 3rd (Ereshkigal was first place with DOUBLE the votes of Morgan AND THEY FORGOT HET T.T I LOVE HER I WANTED HER). The lack of QoL and no animation updates is a major bummer but other than that? I'm fine with it. I havent really played Lb6 yet and i kinda like Morgan (saberface simp lol), so maybe they'll grow on me over time.
I think that release a full morgan summer will make them more money than combining both into one Personally, i'd prefer summer morgan in the black swimsuit more than this
Personally and this is mostly a me issue I like the anniversary servant, but yeah the third ascension is a summer one and her alignment was summer too? The disappoinment comes from no QOL and no animation updates we haven't got a new one in ages, what was the last one? Boudicca, Ushiwakamaru?
LB6 bias and no new animation updates/QoL yada yada. But seriously the story and my stubbornness are actually the last things keeping me going. They peaked servant releases last year. But it really is a shame they won't bring the game more up to date on a basic level.
I wasn't that disappointed with the stream, because the fact that Summer 6 is stated to come this month (August) made me more animated than I was before. On the anniversary of JP, the fact that the anniversary servant was Aesc alias Tonelico left me disappointed. I was expecting either U-Olga or Camazotz. Would have been a nice change for once if a male servant was the anniversary servant.

It just felt underwhelming because announcements of NA being with JP and the pekora collab made this anniversary feel much more important than it should be. I usually watch a video summarizing the anniversary but this time I actually watched it live for once. Out of everything I’m more interested in the new summer designs .
For me the most disappointing part is the lack of QOL changes, didn't fix the pity ( like decreasing it to 250 instead of 300 is more than enough for me ), didn't fixed the coin system, the new POE class tree perks isn't worth the effort, wished they add the ability to gain 1 sq after finishing all daily, also no animation updates to old servants ( come on jalter needs it )
Very valid. I’m na only and most saberfaces i don’t pike because they’re only made a saberface so people will roll them. After reading lb 6 I might even go as far as to say shes my favorite saberface. One of the better lostbelt kings for sure maybe even the best so far. And im not disappointed Aesc is now a servant very happy actually. But it’s clearly not so it can be her but so it can be summer Morgan. Nasu 100% took over and said idc what the plans we’re were doing A THIRD CAMELOT. One of my biggest problems with nasu. He jerks camelot way too much. He’s an amazing writer so I wish he’d do more with other things. I mean unless theres a third banner 5/7 of the current servants are literally just the lb 6 servants. Probably even the welfare too. I’m not even mad about no summer eresh cuz I gave up hope on that a long time ago tho
I love the new servant early Morgan but the fact that she was already apart of a story and probably going to be summonable regardless and they just decided to make her summonable as the anniversary servant when there's so many everyone is waiting to see for anniversary; the celebration of the game and the fans, where they just decided "why have an anniversary servant and a summer servant when elwe can just save effort and put them together" is kinda the opposite of what it been but fkn whatever thanks I guess.
This anniversary is definitely a bust, i am always happy for more morgan but it was just a bad joke it really reminds me of year 1 and 2. Hopefully 2san course corrects cuz year 8 was definitely the worst year since year 1 &2. All events locked behind lb6 just about, almost no events for months at a time, they really need to figure things out heading into year 9 theyre almost to the 10 year mark and i think itll be the make it or break it mark for fans with the discontent at an all time high
Tbh, I'm not to big of a fan of Tonelico. Even looking at all the other servants released in JP this year, she does not stack up well. Tezcatlipoca, Draco, Tiamat, Kukulkan, Rasputin, Nito Alter, Setanta, Saber Medusa... she just isn't as hyped or desired like nearly every servant this year before her. Doesn't help she is a summer servant for anni and a saberface clone of Castoria. I usually only aim for 1 or 2 SSR servants a year and Tonelico is an easy skip for Beast Draco instead when she comes to NA. Pass

I'm not terribly disappointed, the lack of QOL is sad but thats about it. I think they should have not given out any of the extra stuff they gave out for OC release and just held it to Ani. If they had done that people would be praising it like no other. But instead they gave it out at a random time and hurt themselves. But because I know we just got all that extra stuff I'm just not that disappointed because in the end it was all pretty recent. I also have been wanting Tonelico for like... 2 years so... no complaints there.
Yeah, people thinking everything has to be released with anni need to stop it. No one likes when systems and such get introduced only once a year. This year alone we've had evocation shop introduced for old welfares to be obtained again as well as coins and class score. Releasing both of those systems on anni 8 would have meant we have less leaves for the welfare shop because we get them every day and less of that mat for class score that we again need to progress the class score systems.
Yeah it's hilarious that if they held back Class Score, actually pushed through whatever their plans for bond is this year (instead of dropping it randomly like blue apples and pure prisms in a lite stream in october or some bullshit) and say pushed forward something from 30m download campaign (they want to make it bigger than 20m so I'm guessing SR and SSR ticket... push forward SR ticket...) most of the complaints would be gone. And just because Anni is over doesn't mean an end to OoL, people were pissed at Anni 6 that they did nothing for our support lists and next event in Summer they gave us 3 lists for Normal and Events. I already mentioned that Pure Prisms and Blue Apples just happened randomly, we got Grail Casting and a BIS Mystic Code with Tunguska who knows what an Ordeal Call might give us... Also hilarious that people are shitting on Tonelico who's an important LB character meanwhile "Arc just guest character lol".

I would say I’m neutral on Tonelico despite my issue with her being not only a anni servant, but also a summer servant. But my biggest issue with the anni is that there was no significant QOL and after last year anniversary and the rewards they gave out it make this imo disappointing . Sure not the worst anniversary but holy shit the amount of hype and hope for quality context made it one of, if not the most disappointing Anniversary ever

As for Tonelico, my personal impression is that she feels like an extremely unimaginative choice. She’s not a popular NPC everyone wanted to finally become playable like Camazotz or Olga, and she’s not some out-of-nowhere choice designed to hint at future storylines the way Castoria was.
But hey, at least the strengthenings this year have been crazy good. And that anime music video they made.

See here is the thing, if they saved the Ordeal call rewards that has like crap ton of grails, gold fous, lores etc until anni people would not have been this disappointed. I have no idea who decided to not save these for later especially considering they didn't have much more to offer.

And it's not like we should be waiting for ani to get content or rewards, anniversary should be an extra celebration independent to the rest of the content in the game, it wouldn't make much sense to get less stuff during the rest of the year just so we get comparatively more during ani to make it feel more special.
But yeah, it would have probably been a good idea for them to delay those rewards a bit to avoid part of the disappointment from the ani, although it wouldn't have solved the problem, just made people notice it less

The inclusion of Tonelico and the absence of whatever servant the community got themselves hyped up for is probably the least offensive thing about the anniversary tbh. It’s the lack of updates in every other department that’s disappointing. Cool, another unit to…farm hands and doors with. No interesting replayable content, no UI updates, no animation updates, nothing to keep their 8 year old game fresh. Just a new SSR to drain people’s wallets.
@@AromaticViolet They are not continuing playing, just open FGO JP today and look at how many bots are in the support list. We always had bots in the game but they are only more visible cause less people are logging in the game.
The Famitsu magazine also has shown that only 1.9% of players have joined in this year, the least growth the game ever has and I suspect that the game has been bleeding players. That might explain why they added the new GSSR this year, to maximize profit from the few people left as they have given up trying to get new players and have the game grow.
I also have a problem with very few QOL updates. Absolutely nothing was changed with the UI, general gameplay etc. And there's a lot that can be changed.
Remember 3 years ago when we got the wide screen "fix" and they said that it was still work in progress and more updates were coming? Yeah, they kind of swept that under the rug. The UI still scales like garbage, with the weirdly stretched lower menus.

I think Tonelico/Aesc as a Servant is really interesting because she reflects the Spring, Summer, & Fall memories of Morgan, but also the idea probably would have been better saved for the event banners. For example, maybe the event could explore Aesc's character further. I personally really enjoyed the information in her biography about the Rain clan and her upbringing, for one, but that too would have been a concept better shown than just told outright to us.
Having Tonelico and Castoria back to back is just too much Saberface too close together. Also we got a lot less SQ than previous years IIRC and no SR or SSR ticket which definitely makes this feel a lot worse than previous years.

I think this is the biggest issue rather than the characters themselves. They could have asked a guest artist to redraw Tonelico or Castoria, similar to how WADARCO redrew all of the original Takeuchi designs in Fate Extra CCC and Extella, giving them her own spin.

Also i don't know of to feel about the obvious LB6 pandering, yeah, the story is popular, but seeing how they were careless enough to put a LB6 servant after 2 years of its release in the anniversary spot and the new LB6 only summer (Chloe and Suzuka feel like filler to not be that blatant), is too much, even LB7 cast was completely forgotten by the game (not even a dramalogue) after its release because of it
It's still depressing that there are still characters with day 1 animations and some of them are SSRs like Ozymandias, obviously there are characters like David and Big G that still look garbage.

100%. I've been farming on Nero Fest and need a specific servant from friend support to do the 90+ node. Unfortunately, only about three of my friends have that servant. So, I'm stuck refreshing for literal minutes because I refresh, see the servant isn't there, and have to wait ten seconds to be able to refresh again. Then, for whatever reason, the game only shows some of your friends' support servants and not all of them. So, even if your friend is online, their servants may not appear unless you refresh 20 times. Also, what even is the purpose of the delay? And, when we're farming, why do we have to stop and pick a new servant each time? Why can't we keep the same support servant over each replay of the node until we leave it?
As an NA player, I was a bit disappointed only because I keep holding out hope for animation updates but I think it's time I just stop. RIP Proto Cu, Jeanne, and Jalter AUs

The anni servant doesn't really matter to me, there's always a new toy for us.
What's disheartening is the lack of anything of substance, to improve the game, the new player experience, the lack of replayability (story replay), AU/UI updates.
This game has so many awesome boss designs but none of them are available to test your new units on. Story replay wouldn't even be hard to implement, the files are in the game, the UI is there, just add it to the free quest map or archive the story stages as main interlude.
I don't like how they gimped the normal GSSR by taking out units from the first four years. It feels like they're pushing you to the double the price deluxe GSSR. They also left out Draco, who is "conveniently" front and center on the actual banner for the new deluxe GSSR. There is some nice stuff in the Anni but, it's pretty much little things. Like in Anni 6 we a free 5 star for free. Anni 7 we got to choose between the two best CE's in the game for free. And this year we get Golden Sumo MLB (Don't get wrong great CE) for 5K Mana Prisms. It doesn't help that because they just gave us a whole bunch of Mana and Rare prisms some of these QOL are less impactful. I'm not a fan of LB6 summer because it means that everyone who wants something else more or aren't fans of LB6 are stuck with the leftover crumbs. So to have LB6 not only dominate summer but also take the Anni servant slot is dissapointing. I do think LB6 is so popular that it deserves some real estate in summer, I just wished they added a couple units every year. Tonelico looking exactly like Castoria when there about to release Summer Castoria in like two to three weeks is also kind of dumb to me. To end on a high note, the memorial video was awesome.

I agree but like, Tonelico was always gonna look like Castoria, she used the same sprite as Castoria's 2nd ascension in the story but with a black ribbon and wooden staff.

I'd say my grievance comes the window of her release knowing that Summer Castoria is coming very soon. Summer is already so LB6 dominated it's a shame to also see it affect the Anni servant and she looks just like a unit we're about to get. I think I could've phrased it a little better in the original post.
They really didn't add any real updates to the game. Banners are nice but they don't fix or add much once they are gone. The game has been going through this since they made events 3 weeks long regardless of if they are good or not like the paul event. More time yet somehow they do less

@@ivanbluecool It's not that they can't fix coins, it's that they don't want to. Right now, you're encouraged to roll for more copies of a servant if you want to max appends. For an SSR, this means rolling a 6th copy you have no use for, just to max append and 120. That's a lot more money they can get out of whales. If they fixed it in any way that discourages rolling more copies, it would lead to profit loss and Lasengle cares even more about profit than DW ever did, because they're under more direct management from Aniplex now. And we all know how greedy Aniplex is, just look at their box set anime release prices.

@@slaine7874 whales are a small part of the community and we see how they quit when they either maximize or burn out on the game. It's not good to try and say this is smart. If it was np 5 bond 1-15 for max servant it would have been fine as 5 is the max and that's what it should have been.
Same with changing the "pity" system with the cores should have been given at np 3 and higher so it could be useful for whales or super lucky f2p and dophins.
They are lazy and have always been lazy. Less events and somehow people think they do more when they do less with more time which is an insult compared to other games that do more with less
I would say that this is the worst Anni ever by far, we come from at least 9 months of no animation updates, where they are doing far less events; all around they are working less than ever and the anniversary have literally 0 QoL. They just have some free stuff but did not fix anything meaningless with the game
Basically three different saberfaces, second ascension Tonelico being near identical replica of Castoria but the most disappointing of all was giving new voice lines to servants and giving players hope of AU bunch after a year without any

Also I don't know why anyone expected a bunch of AUs during Anniversary, Anni servant, 2 Summer SSRs, 4 Summer SRs, 1 welfare, that's 8 characters in a 3 week period for a game that has released 16 in the prior 7 months.

I was excited for Summer Castoria but Aesc/Tonelico being released right after her was too much. I thought them sharing a sprite in LB6 was a clever gimmick to show the parallels and differences of their respective journeys as Avalon le Fae. But with this we essentially got two more versions of Castoria 2: Electric Boogaloo and one random as hell Summer Morgan ascension. Instead of a proper Aesc or a proper Summer Morgan, we got a mess that mashed both together and guarantees neither of those will happen. I would have been fine with Aesc showing up later on another event (maybe one that showcases younger/Lily variants). But it just doesn’t feel good to have this weird amalgamation as the anniversary servant. I wasn’t even expecting U Olga Marie like many others were and was still let down.
Also, I’m annoyed that Oberon is just as popular as Castoria and Morgan but can’t get a shiny new version like they can just because he’s male. They already have 50+ female Summer Servants but still refuse to give one to a guy after eight years? They don’t even have the paper-thin excuse of “guys don’t sell” since Oberon printed them so much money. Tons of other gacha games have no problem with male summer units so I really don’t understand the hangup when a proper Summer Oberon would have made them serious bank.

I’m just gonna start off by saying I personally would be fine if they wanted to make say 1 summer banner be all Male servants and the other Female. That’s all good.
BUT. From my personal perspective as someone who whales heavily. I would almost never spend money summoning for a Male swimsuit servant. A normal male servant sure, swimsuit/summer No.
Not because I don’t like the male servants, because I do especially Cu he’s awesome. But I just have no interest in summoning for what is essentially a fan service version of a dude servant, that I probably already have the original of. The only way would be if they were broken skill and gameplay wise.
Because a male servants appearance and aesthetic just doesn’t really hold much weight in my eyes, it’s usually all their personality, I mean the last time I was “wowed” by a male servants appearance was probably when they dropped SSJGOD Karna’s spiritron dress as well as Godjuna.
So like I said I’m just not gonna care for a summer male servant based off of aesthetic alone. They’d need to be OP for me to even look twice.
Contrast this with female servants, even if their kit is trash, or I’m just not that big of a fan of them, as long as they have at least an ascension I think is cool or that I find pretty I’ll probably roll for them.
Nobu was a good example, I never cared for the Archer version that much, and really don’t care about the first 2 ascensions on Avenger Nobu. But final Ascension Avenger Nobu is one of the coolest looking characters in the game to me. So I got her.
This is probably fairly shallow and Monkey brained of me, but it is what it is. And unfortunately I’d be willing to bet there is a chunk of players who wether they’d admit it or not do think the same way.
And it’s unfortunately probably the line of thinking for why they don’t think male summer servants will sell as well. Though I’d be willing to bet despite monkey brained individual’s like myself, male SS servants would sell just fine.
So yeah sure regular Oberon was a massive success and even I’d be willing to bet a summer version would also sell well, but I know I wouldn’t spend for him, not unless he was broken.
But again that’s just my opinion and I’m sure there are others who think the same way even if they don’t want to admit it and look like bit of a dick.
BUT like I said earlier I still think they should make male summer servants even if they wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

Also MID CQs and Rewards.
NGL It seems that they are not trying anymore. Sure, they did the whole physical event AND the Memorial Movie but I'm fucking sure they have gotten more money thant needed from us for that (specially how underpaid animators are in Japan).

Honestly, it isn’t really any of the servants they add that bothers me or anything. In fact i really like Aesc/Summer morgan.
But the main problem is how clearly lazy lasengle is regarding the actual GAME. No new game systems or gamemodes, battle system changes, UI changes (besides more filters wooo), ANIMATION UPDATES, etc.
Literally the only “new” things we got were another more expensive gssr and 20% bond on frontline, how awesome.

For as much as it was hyped this anniversary was terrible. It was a huge let down. Obviously we got more than in the very early anniversary but I think as far as disappointments it was close to NA's 1st Anniversary level bad. They had so much hype and coming off of an amazing 7th anniversary it was bad. I hope they lost some money on this because they need to be aware this was bad.

Worst anni in terms of QoL, but i think its the best Anni so far in terms of buffs. Just a few days in we already get a bunch of buffs that completely make garbo servants usable again. Especially salter.
We should be extra buffs considering the state of the game.

Imagine my disappointment when the anni servant os just Castoria 2: Summer Bogaloo, especially since Summer Castoria was revealed before. No new non gameplay update like UI updates, Animation updates, and more
And the summer is basically just LB 6, i dont even know why Kuro and Suzuka are in them, might aswell have summer Habetrot or something. Also also, the spiritron dresses, though very cool, is waaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue, and the worst part? BEDIVERE didnt even get his!!!
As much as I love the guy skins this year, they really are the laziest picks they could have gone with. The designs for these have been around for 4+ years. They didn't have to be creative or incentive, they just had to rig the sprites to a design that was made years ago. And Oberon, good god they did my boy dirty. For an SSR, his skin is just supremely disappointing. I hope he gets a 3rd ascension version that is more detailed.
There was way too much hype that they absolutely fumbled hard. If they had only planned to do what they did, they should not have invested in that week long of videos. And I think even worse, NA absolutely should not have been any part of this. It's pretty obvious now that they pushed nerofest off so that people would come to their stream in anticipation of something incredible. This was the first year they acknowledged JP was even having an anniversary, and we got translated PVs too. It had all the markings of something huge for us, and then nothing interesting happened. It was 3.5 hours of "here's what we did on our vacation" and then 30 minutes of "game news" covering things we already knew was coming; summer, back to school, etc. Not a single QoL from either server that makes a lick of difference to this extremely aged game's gameplay. All in all, the hype they generated ruined what would have just been a lukewarm anniversary.
1. Make the pure prism shop reset monthly or bi monthly
2. Give us Pure prisms from Doing SQ gacha
3. Give Free servant coins to servants that are in the current event
4. Make the pity 400sqs or less and make it a step up system (after the first copy you need like 1500 or 2000 to get np5 guaranteed
5. Make more supports to meta teams (Castoria, Koyan, Oberon shouldn't be as needed as they are rn)
These are some of the things they could do to make the game wayyy more comfortable to play
Part of the disappointment was because of the wild expectations NA set for themselves, I saw a lot of talk regarding a server merge, dozens of animation updates, Ani 8 servant being released on both servers simultaneously, etc. However if we ignore those ridiculous expectations, players disappointment is still justified. There were no QOL updates, no bond fix, no servant coin fix, Quick is still lacking, etc. FGO really needs to hire more staff, they are severely lacking in man power. They either refuse to hire new talent, or have job postings that have been up for nearly 3 years now that haven’t been filled (example is a UI expert)
I would say this is the worst. The older Annis at least had some basic QoL improvements. Anni 1 added the grail system which is to this day one of the best systems in the game and some basic animation updates (which have aged poorly but were nice at the time)
Anni 8 added nothing long term to the game. It's just ROLL MORE TODAY!
Also FGO is more out of date than ever, they really should not be skipping on improvements
I also think like a lot of people said that they kinda shot themselves in the foot by releasing the the Class Score system with Ordeal Call. I'm guessing all the players would be going crazy if it was fully, blindly released with the Anniversary instead.
Im ok with Tonelico as a anniversary servant and the fact that Lasenge seem to move her out of summer just to prevent a new 3 Ssr summer is way to obvious.
My real disapointment is with the almost 0 QoL that they implement, like really just more filters and that's it?? UI need a major overhaul not just crumbs and also it looked like they knew it was going to be messy since they threw a smoke NA stream just at the same time because let's face it that stream should have been live the day before the JP one.
This game worries me there have been some really cool stuff like arcade collab and ordeal call with class score but the game just feels like it’s going down hill. I thought the anni was gonna be hype like usual but nope we got practically nothing but a character that a lot of ppl find a bit disappointing.
I would say I dislike this Anni. Firstly, I love Aecs/Tonelico, she is good girl and she deserves all the love and attention. What I don't like is the entire Anniversary itself. I don't need them to introduce game-breaking unit, we already have a bunch of them already, even in NA. What I want is some improvement in Quality of Life, animation update (We haven't got one for over a year now), UI update (the game run with 2016 standard is absurd), better filter (I don't have to spend so much time to search a Servant or CE), level up a unit while in line-up and I don't have to quit out of the level, pressing a bunch of button to level up my unit. This game is 8 year-old yet nothing really "change" about it. They don't have to change the entire core game-play, I just want to see some improvement. Truly a Lasengle moment
Honestly, massive missed opportunity to give us bond 16+ as an answer to both their garbage servant coin system as well as the current issue of bond cap. It's especially annoying that we got this new bond gain bonus for frontline servants, but the bond cap is still in place. More or less Lasagna telling us "if your favorite(s) are already capped, get fucked." Lots of QoL things they could've done but opted not to for god only knows why.
I'm looking forward to the LB6 summer and some of the summer versions of LB6 cast, but I'd be lying if I said 8th Anni didn't leave me pretty disappointed. I wasn't really even on the Olga/Camazotz hype train either, I just wanted Lasagna to acknowledge some of the game's existing issues at the very least.

One thing to support Myst’s “Nasu wanted LB6 summer idea” is that it seems like there’s only 2 Summer banners this year compared to last year (apparently JP had a lot of backlash for that due to lack of SQ). So instead the made Tonelico A3 be Summer Morgan to keep 2 summer banners while also being able to have 3 summer 5 stars.

Summer Morgan should have been the welfare
Nasu revealed 1.5 years ago, a bit after LB6, that he was going to write a summer story. He simply does what he wants. Tonelico is going to be a big part of that story and it seems that Berserker Morgan turns back into Tonelico, until she eventually turns back during what I guess is the climax. Probably some proper closure for Morgan regarding how her story ended, which is something she never got in LB6 and never really addressed. Her end was tragic.
My problem with the Aesc / summer Morgan fusion is that it feels like we've been robbed of both Aesc's 3rd ascension, and summer Morgan's 1st and 2nd ascension.
Would I roll for a proper Aesc? YES
Would I roll for a proper S.Morgan? NO
So now what should have been a must roll for me has become a complete MAYBE.
Other than that, the only good things this anniversary gave us was the bond thing and the old CEs in the shop.
Also, the destiny summon thing should cost 15 paid sq imo

@@chkheto2225 I agree with this, since both asc1 and asc2 are different stages of Tonelico's life, the only remaining one we know of is the Morgan we already know, so even if it wasn't summer Morgan, it would still be Morgan. Tho I definetely don't mind Tonelico, I really like Morgan, so I would never complain with another one.
The only thing I was kinda bummed was Nasu revealing in the Famitsu magazine that UOM will never be summonable :(

I feel like they KNEW going into the anniversary that they didn't have anything good prepared, which is why they focused so heavily on summer information this year. Now we have every summer servant revealed except for the welfare, so what's even the point of having a summer stream later? I keep getting my hopes up for animation updates, and every time a banger story chapter drops like LB7 I start to think that things are looking up, but it's the same old lasagna that would rather try to milk as much money as possible out of swimsuit servants than give love to older servants. At the very least the destiny summon system is neat but that's it.
2 features I was hoping to get deep down before all of this, 3 Pure Prism per day by completing Daily Quests like how they give us 3 Mats tickets per Quest and refresh the Pure Prism Shops. But I guess dreams will stay dreams with this game
I said this in another comment section, but it bears repeating. No animation updates and no coin system fix at this point is pathetic in my opinion. The problem with the coin system was evident from the start and they said they would fix it an eternity ago, why not take a chance as obvious as the anniversary for that? It's the kind of thing that personally makes me lose trust in the devs and brings me closer to quitting.
Pretty sober thoughts, honestly. I do think it's pretty inexcusable that we haven't gotten proper QOL/UI improvements when there is SOOO much that is bad on that front, and that the community has been complaining about for years. FGO's UI and UX is D-tier compared to something like Arknights, even though they run on the same engine. And there's also a bunch of servants with really bad animations that they refuse to update anymore as well. I didn't mind the Destiny Summon, since that's probably the most generous with GSSRs they have been as far as getting servants you want, but it looks scummy when the only major "improvement" they add is temporary and profit-motivated.
I was fine with castoria summer being released. But then they next day they released a summer servant disguised as an anni servant when that spot could have gone to so many other characters. Why can’t summer Morgan just be a 4*? Why can’t she be a welfare? On top of this summer being lost belt 6 part 4. I love lostbelt 6 and I’m very much looking forward to the summer story but it definitely feels like nasu came in and did a hostile takeover for anni and summer and blew all the budget on the character production without giving decent QOL.
And as if that wasn’t enough, the NA side of the livestream was embarrassing. All that stuff we got could have been in a pre recorded dev diary. It was seriously nothing special. They even had a countdown on the official Twitter NA account for JPs anniversary. Why??? They didn’t even talk about Jp’s anni when the livestream happened.
It’s definitely not what I expected for a huge 8th anniversary celebration, but I’m hoping that just means they’re putting their energy and effort into the events for the rest of the year

They're really not gonna be putting any more work than necessary bruh. All their work goes into making new servants cause that's what brings in the money. Even the buffs which are one of the saving graces of this anni are mostly just battery
@@gtx7743 100%. I remember there was that interview with the new director, saying that they’re going to take it slow and try stuff out. I believed it and bought into the stoppage of rerun events and slowdowns of buffs and interludes as part of that “working things out” phase.
Now I believe that they *are* past the slow phase, it’s just that their idea of a stable and healthy game is just stripping all of the “unessesary” stuff and leaving us with a barebones game. Just story and stuff that makes them more money.

The sad thing is that there is no more ascension costume for summer morgan and tonelico. Usually there is 3 form of ascension that progress every ascension to make a different form of costume. Summer morgan in the end only has one summer costume which kind of bummer and tonelico/aesc feel like kind of uncompleted by missing the third ascension so this combination makes me feel conflicted.

Anniversary servants always play prominent roles in Main Story. By making Morgan both the anni and the summer servant at the same time, and with the upcoming event written by Nasu, these facts tell you a lot on how important and main story focused this year's Summer event will be.

I think half of the people's disappointment with the 8th anniversary wouldn't exist if they had added at least one or two new good QoL. Even I, who loved Aesc/Tonelico as the anniversary servant, can't deny how weak and disappointing everything else was.
Worst? No. Best? No. Mid? Definitely. I'd also say that Tonelico as the Anniversary Servant isn't bad on its own, but announcing Summer Castoria the day before makes it feel like they couldn't think of an alternative servant than another Saber Face. Especially since we had one last year with Archtype Earth. Still will pull because of that 1st ascension though. Destiny Summon is definitely interesting, but I think it should be a permanent feature for people to use Quartz on. Let's people get certain servants instead of painfully waiting for a (maybe) banner rerun. I even got gripes on how the Story Summon banner works and think Destiny Summon can help with this, but that's another story.
I have more negative criticism about the NA livestream during it tbh.
I don't hate Tonelico, in fact, i quite like her but...I was mad when I saw -what-I-thought-would-be the next Castoria when the banner dropped. I was confused and didn't knew wheather this is one of summer Castoria's asc's or what. So her being the anni servant is a little disappointing. But yeah, no AU's and QOL updates is what hurts the most.
The Good:
1. I actually like Destiny Order, I've been wanting something like it for a long time.
2. More importantly, the Strengthenings so far have been great. They may not be the craziest set out their (Salter notwithstanding) but they've all done the job they needed to do.
The Bad:
3. Still no flipping coin fix.
4. I haven't heard anything about new Quartz-dumping missions, and that's terrible.
5. I do not like this new thing of slapping 1/3 of a Summer Servant onto 2/3 of a regular Servant, and yeah, I'll agree it's worse for the Anniversary Servant. It just feels like a cop out. Particularly disappointing for Summer Morgan. For Proto Merlin, I think it was more justified if only because we already had a regular Merlin, so she was already a variant. Still didn't like it exactly, but it didn't really bother me all that much either - at least not as much as the way she power-crept the original.
If nothing else, I can finally forgive them for making Summer Ibuki as powerful as she is because they finally gave Mama Raikou her battery.
It a shame because I actually enjoy the anni stream and Memorial movies and that make me really hype about this then they review Tonelico which is fine I was hoping for her to be a playable servants in the future (i wish they gave her a non swimsuit 3rd ascension and give Morgan(Zerk) and Tonelico swimsuit costume in the summer event instead) but the most disappointing thing is that there is no good QOL, animation update, coin system improvement, bond ce improvement, story replay (don't even need a reward or drop just make it a 5 ap thing that people can choose to do for fun) , and please reduce the amount of mat you need for class skill tree thing like just one or two of those would be good enough for me but instead we got a bond increase thing that is nice but most of the time when I'm farming bond for servants I put the one that I want to farm bond in the backline unless they can clear/loop that stage that I'm farming

The only thing the fanbase (or at least a part of it) overhyped is the possibility of an NA catch up, but as a whole the expectations were mostly reasonable (like getting the new chains early or QOL like the blue apples early) instead it was a whole lot of nothing, early Dantes buff and that's it.
This is not mentioning all the other problems with the anniversary as a whole like no AUs, no QOL, summer parasitizing the celebration, no replayable boss fights / similar long awaited features introduced....
There is no need to minimize the blame, they handled the anni poorly and that's that

They could release Proto Gil or Strange Fake Alcides or Richard also even Hippolyta yet they don't. Probably to hold back until the event. Strange Fake has a lot of high ranking servants that not all going to be implemented. And they choose another Saberface just because Nasu writes this summer event and want to complement with it.

The author of Strange Fake explicitly stated that He didn't want his servants in FGO until the story in the light novels are over, so no sense in expecting that. Aesc is fine, but i think pairing her up with a Summer Morgan ascension(therefore, diluting both her and S.Morgan) + the announcement that a new Castoria will already be in the next event might make people a bit salty, yes.

Tonelico is neat, far as I'm concerned. She is essentially Morgan Lily. And an odd take on it, at that. Unlike most Lily Servants, she doesn't seem to have any of the knoledge of her future life. The Rain Witch doesn't seem to know about The Savior or the Queen. The Savior is later in life, and knows the Rain Witch, but still not the Queen. And the Queen seems to think of it all as a nostalgic memory. The stages are almost completely segmented. From a Lore point of view, it's kinda fascinating.
I wish they gave use link account and a soft pity. The anniversary servant is ok (ain't no Olga 😭) and kinda wish we atleast got a "pick your 4* servant".
The gssr thing is nice(but can't use it do to region restriction).
Also wish they optimize their game better instead of cutting off older models(still can't even get into the fight with ort because of it).
The biggest disappointment to me was how Oberon, one of the male servants that has given lasagna the most money couldn't escape the "only skins for guys" curse and received a skin that makes him look like a grandma.
He was also on the top 1 most requested servant to get a swimsuit alongside 2nd place Muramasa (my favourite) another crucial character in lostbelt 6 story (in my opinion they did him a bit dirty ngl)
I simply don't get why they are always asking "which guys do you want to receive a summer alt" if they'll never release one (it's been 8 years) and even if I've been playing this game for less than two years, it's simple sickening to me how they've constantly shit on male servants in general.

A bit off topic, but looking at Jord's NP Damage Looping Spreadsheet it seems Karna's numbers went up from when you covered it in his Buff Breakdown.
The fact that about half of the buffs so far are purely about making the servant be able to Koyan loop is embarrassing.
I think this anni is meant to be a JP wetdream, and here are my arguments:
1- we all know they make the game for JP and just translate stuff for us, it's nothing new;
2-JP loves both Morgan and Lb6, so they getting everything they like/wanted in one package was probably nice for them (hence why they got to top 1 sales VERY quickly 💀💀)
(Some data to back my 2nd claim)
From the 7th anniversay poll and 2022 player data, Morgan was the 5* servant that was lvld to 120 the most (Melusine second) and the same result was found for "Most servant lvld to 120 after part chapter 2 part 6" (Meaning after Lb6).
(Bonus: Kiyohime berserker was the 3* servant that got lvld to 120 the most, LONG LIVE KIYO SUPREMACY)
Castoria and Morgan were 1st and 2nd place for "best valentine buddies 2022"; Morgan was the 5th servant to get the most buddy points (I think it means friend points?) in 2022 and was also 2nd place in the "player predictions of servant to get a swimsuit next year, while Castoria was 3rd (Ereshkigal was first place with DOUBLE the votes of Morgan AND THEY FORGOT HET T.T I LOVE HER I WANTED HER).
The lack of QoL and no animation updates is a major bummer but other than that? I'm fine with it. I havent really played Lb6 yet and i kinda like Morgan (saberface simp lol), so maybe they'll grow on me over time.
I think that release a full morgan summer will make them more money than combining both into one

I wasn't that disappointed with the stream, because the fact that Summer 6 is stated to come this month (August) made me more animated than I was before.
On the anniversary of JP, the fact that the anniversary servant was Aesc alias Tonelico left me disappointed. I was expecting either U-Olga or Camazotz. Would have been a nice change for once if a male servant was the anniversary servant.

It just felt underwhelming because announcements of NA being with JP and the pekora collab made this anniversary feel much more important than it should be. I usually watch a video summarizing the anniversary but this time I actually watched it live for once. Out of everything I’m more interested in the new summer designs .
For me the most disappointing part is the lack of QOL changes, didn't fix the pity ( like decreasing it to 250 instead of 300 is more than enough for me ), didn't fixed the coin system, the new POE class tree perks isn't worth the effort, wished they add the ability to gain 1 sq after finishing all daily, also no animation updates to old servants ( come on jalter needs it )

I’m na only and most saberfaces i don’t pike because they’re only made a saberface so people will roll them. After reading lb 6 I might even go as far as to say shes my favorite saberface. One of the better lostbelt kings for sure maybe even the best so far.

Tbh, I'm not to big of a fan of Tonelico. Even looking at all the other servants released in JP this year, she does not stack up well. Tezcatlipoca, Draco, Tiamat, Kukulkan, Rasputin, Nito Alter, Setanta, Saber Medusa... she just isn't as hyped or desired like nearly every servant this year before her. Doesn't help she is a summer servant for anni and a saberface clone of Castoria. I usually only aim for 1 or 2 SSR servants a year and Tonelico is an easy skip for Beast Draco instead when she comes to NA. Pass

I'm not terribly disappointed, the lack of QOL is sad but thats about it.
I think they should have not given out any of the extra stuff they gave out for OC release and just held it to Ani. If they had done that people would be praising it like no other. But instead they gave it out at a random time and hurt themselves. But because I know we just got all that extra stuff I'm just not that disappointed because in the end it was all pretty recent.
I also have been wanting Tonelico for like... 2 years so... no complaints there.

Yeah, people thinking everything has to be released with anni need to stop it. No one likes when systems and such get introduced only once a year. This year alone we've had evocation shop introduced for old welfares to be obtained again as well as coins and class score. Releasing both of those systems on anni 8 would have meant we have less leaves for the welfare shop because we get them every day and less of that mat for class score that we again need to progress the class score systems.
Yeah it's hilarious that if they held back Class Score, actually pushed through whatever their plans for bond is this year (instead of dropping it randomly like blue apples and pure prisms in a lite stream in october or some bullshit) and say pushed forward something from 30m download campaign (they want to make it bigger than 20m so I'm guessing SR and SSR ticket... push forward SR ticket...) most of the complaints would be gone.
And just because Anni is over doesn't mean an end to OoL, people were pissed at Anni 6 that they did nothing for our support lists and next event in Summer they gave us 3 lists for Normal and Events. I already mentioned that Pure Prisms and Blue Apples just happened randomly, we got Grail Casting and a BIS Mystic Code with Tunguska who knows what an Ordeal Call might give us...
