- ■ SRI LANKA, COLOMBO: My 2nd day in Colombo I ran into a great Tuk-Tuk driver who upon driving me around for a few said he'd be happy to show me his family and home. This was an opportunity I could not miss. His house turned out to be about two hours drive outside of Colombo though. To make the time go faster he suggested I try some local Sri Lankan lemon rum.....

Let me tell you .. this driver deserves a medal... He never tried to exploit you.. always tried to get a best deal for a cheaper price.. even at the bottle shop he wanted you to have a cheaper one.. coz he thought that was expensive small bottle.. at the grocery shop he paid for the Coke bottle.. unfortunately he didn't have enough money for the King Coconut...yet he checked his pocket.. he is a poor guy with a big heart.. true human being..!!

I can tell Harold had a lot of fun with him. More than with most other people. I hope he left him a fat tip (but if Harold was the usual Harold, I'm sure he did).
this guy is a driver, a mason, a carpenter, a good negotiator...which means he basically can build the trump tower and negotiate with china then drive back home on a tuk-tuk.
There are two kinds of deals, 3 wheeler and no deal

This rickshaw driver is so genuine. You can tell he's a quality person.
Quite possibly one of the most endearing episodes. The chemistry between the two is so genuine.
Imagine making 5 dollars a day and being so positive, what a great guy!

@sandip K I disagreed! India and Sri lanka are TWO VERY DIFFERENT countries in many ways!. YOU cannot compare living expenses as SAME in both countries. Living COST in Sri Lanka is way higher than India, So what does it say about earnings then??...PLEASE STOP trying to COMPARE everything with India. Sri lankans DO like to watch your Bollywood movies, music and copy your fashions. THAT"s about it! other than that SRI LANKANS are NOT anywhere close to Indians ( lifestyles,manners etc).( I'm majorly considering Sinhalese culture,I CANNOT talk about others ,which I don't have any clue about).

His English is actually very good. he's able to understand what Harald was saying even when he wasn't sure what the correct word in English was. He learns quickly.

I think he just wanted to buy something from the lottery man for getting those rubber bands for free. Although he had bought lottery before this didn't look like a planned purchase.

Herald said he is going to help the driver fix the glasses. awaiting for a massive tip in the next video. what nicer person do we need when he can pay for the coke and cake. He was even willing to pay for the coconut but didn't have change.

This is like the best person to ever be featured and also the most deserving man I have ever seen. I enjoy the fact that he treated you as more of a guest in his home than a customer also I like how he genuinely enjoys your company. I love seeing locals excited to see foreigners try out their own customs.

@Ashen Wicky Yeah, they aren't exactly well protected in case of an accident, I used to work with someone who destroyed his lower back in a tuk tuk accident in Thailand, he was never able to return to working again, sadly.

viking mode : The liquor store dude didn’t rip Harald off but Rs.800 was too expensive in Aruna the three wheel driver’s books. Aruna was trying to get Harald a cheaper alcohol. That’s why he kept on asking the liquor store dude if they have smaller bottles or a different type that’s cheaper.
Hi viking, nope, it wasn't screwing. they were real prices for liquor, cos of tax on them. and that is a reputed local brand. BTW am a huge fan of Harld (and Bald & Bankrupt )

This Tuk Tuk guy is a genuine person. In the last episode, he protected Harald when they were in the poor neighborhood by saying them that he will come back tomorrow also. In this episode, he wanted to negotiate with vendors so that Harald doesn't get ripped off. Also, I think he paid for the coke and cake as well. When he realized that the Gin he suggested was very pricey he felt bad and asked for a more low-cost white rum. He wanted to pay for that king coconut, but he did not have change. He is truly a remarkable human being. Hats off. Can't wait for the next episode
