The Acer Swift 1 is a pretty good value at this price point - primarily due to its IPS display. It also has a finger print reader for easy access to the system when locked.
Its 2x2 AC wireless radio impressed us for web browsing but it falls short of a competing laptop from Asus with the same processor for graphics and gaming. That said the Asus crashed more often in our testing.
I like the weight and all metal casing. But the keyboard needs a little more time in the design lab.

I bought the Swift 1 about 6 months ago at Best buy here in Canada when it was on sale. I paid $429 (about $329 US). And I love it! However I got the superior N5000 version.
The design looks very premium, 1080p screen, loads of ports. Some other laptops that cost double don't even have a full HD screen, lame.
Now I know it's not the quickest laptop and the eMMc flash drive at 64gb is quite small, but I just slapped in a 128gb micro sd card and I was set.
Bootups are quick and take seconds, the screen is gorgeous, and the shell is premium. When I tell people how much I paid, they don't believe me, they think it costs double or more! Highly recommended. Awesome value.
The new N5000 can be had for under $200 now... as matter of fact, I bought one brand new last week for $174 shipped!
I have a new old stock m.2 MLC SaTa SSD from 2017 with 512GB, but I'm still not sure whether this laptop can handle it or not as I've seen another reviewer mentioning only to install 256GB(?).
Anyone know for certain??

hey lon love the channel, super appreciate the hard work that you put into these videos, but it would be cool if you could mention on these low spec laptop reviews whether or not the internal storage is upgradeable because as a casual observer it seems like it's something these companies actively work to make unclear via a quick scan of their product page.

I just got this laptop and I think the keyboard really isn't that bad I kind of like it
Got this one about a month ago at the beginning of college, I have no issues with it, runs videos well, has good battery, looks nice, easy portability, and for the price it's a good value. Only issue I found I had was the keyboard was a bit meh, and obviously I am not alone.

Nothing major, it's a fine keyboard but sometimes puts double letters. When compared to a higher quality laptop / keyboard, there is a noticeable difference, but definitely nothing that hinders use at all
Hey, Lon! I am looking to replace my Asus E200HA due to the sloppy Google Docs performance, even after a fresh install and nothing besides Chrome on it. Would you mind making a followup-video with further details about the keyboard as i kinda liked the feel of the Asus even though it is not comparable to the mechanical keyboard on my desktop.

Is it possible to run an IDE like Eclipse on the Acer Swift 1 without larger lags?
Is it compatible with the acer active pen? if it is, how sensitive is it and is it good enough to scribble down some notes?
How do you unscrew the back cover? Trying to clean the fan, but can't get the back cover open because the screws are not regular screws. Not sure what tool to use.

First to review the Acer Swift 1. I know its not meant for multi-tasking? How was it so far? Is it worth the bucks for casual users like browsing, movie watching, basic productivity (email, word, excel)?

techtablets said there was a unlock feature for the chuwi lapbook air which made the cpu and gpu run much faster. I was wondering if you could test this on music production if anything. If it could indeed run a DAW such as FL Studio and Ableton Live for example.
There might be but I wouldn’t recommend it. They do so poorly on thermals as it is that I would be concerned with damaging the computer due to heat.

Same here with the HP 250 G5(celeron n3060, 4gb ddr3 ram, 500 gb hdd), but sadly this Acer sells for 550 euros where I live and I got the HP for less than 250 euros, so I cant complain, but still TN panels are shit.

I am getting tis for a Christmas gift with an Ethernet adapter to get internet. Where can I get pics or video to show ne exactly and precisely how to do this, i.e where everything is plugged in? No I do not have or want wifi/wireless and have a pc where I get my interent now that I want to also connect my new laptop. (I'm old and know almost nothing on this stuff)

If you're really fixed on cash I'd get the acer used for $200. You'll also get your moneys worth stretching the extra $100 to $150. Question is do you need/ want the extra power. For basic school usage probably not. If you do stuff like photoshop, etc the Mac may make more since but the screen is still a bit small for that regardless.

I'm interested in this laptop for web browsing and programming. Is this laptop good enough for programming? Java with Eclipse IDE. Visual Studio Code.
Its better than the laptop I use for programming, a HP 255 G6, so it depends if you want to do web browsing simultaneously, which I would assume it can, but youtube might be a bit slow, as it is on mine, although mine has a hard drive unlike this one.
surprised that you consistently give the n4200 processor such positive marks yet everywhere else i see it gets denigrated for its limited and slow performance vs i3...

well chromebooks are fast no matter what because they run chrome os and windows 10 is a little bit more comanding but i would go with this laptop because it has good build quliaty and full 1080p

You can get laptops with a Core i3 for cheaper, Only having a N4200 seems like a deal breaker
Are the cheaper ones ultrabooks in this weight bracket though? Generally you pay for cheaper with plastic builds, trackpads, keyboards etc.
Sure, get the miix 320, small, thin, detachable keyboard. Also has 4gb of ram and a quad core processor, and is significantly cheaper
x5-Z8350 is also a significantly weaker processor, but if that was updated to Apollo Lake it would be more interesting. Quad core certainly doesn't mean fast when that's a Cherry Trail.
you have to think thoe of the ips 1080p screen that is good for hor cheap it is and if your only watching videos and browsing the web then you are good

Ascena Jacobs you can look at other websites such as new egg I believe they sell it for 190 or somewhere around that price. Just look around some more for instance I got my swift 1 on eBay and won it off of an auction for 175.

Well, no. If you buy this laptop is because you want to see movies and videos, not because you want to play some games or doing work! Everyone buy stuff they need, that's it. If I need a laptop just to look at some YT videos this one is perfect.
PS: a 720p display in 2018..?
