    Great looking bowl Tim, really love the shaping of this. Must have been mightily frustrating to find the metal interloper, but thankfully didn't distract from the piece. All the best. Ray

      Cheers Ray, it was a little disconcerting especially when I saw the chunk it took out of the gouge tip too. Several words were said! Thanks for watching pal!

    Very well done. Bad luck finding that piece of drill.. the metal detector pinpointer is useful in those cases!

    Nicely done! Ive seen alot of these turned, and always wanted to try one. Hate that the drill bit was there, and caused a bit of a problem. Never know whats gonna be hiding in wood fibers. The ebonizing solution worked well!

    Wow, who'd have thought a block of wood had that magnificent shape inside it. That ebonising recipe works amazingly well, I'll have to give that a try someday. Cheers Pog, another tour de force.

    Nice one Tim! I must have a go at some more 3 sided stuff. The ebonising solution works great but I have used it on some Oak (well I thought it was Oak) but it didn't ebonise much at all. Not sure if the Tannin disappears as the Oak ages or what. So much to learn! Merry Christmas, Dave

    • @tfturning
      @tfturning  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm not too sure on that one. It must leave to some extent right? Cheers Dave, I'd recommend it, lots of fun 😁 Happy Christmas pal, have a good one!

    How many people would give the wrong answer if you ask them how many corners a bowl made from a square block of wood will have?
    Only woodturners are likely to know this. Admittedly I still have a problem myself in reasoning why there are three corners instead of four. Maybe I should make another one myself. 😎
