    My 2 favorite comedians. Very cool to hear that Chris is the wake-up call guy for a lot of comedians. I've heard a lot of comedians credit Chris for pushing them to be better

    Didn’t Rock at one point describe CK as ‘the blackest white person he’s ever met’? Something like that. I think it was in terms of just how perceptive Louis is of the specific experience of black folk in the world.

      lol no he said it in the context that Louis exhibits many negative characteristics that are generally associated with black people

      Yes but he used a different word than Blackest.

      @Bonnaci-Gyes it was this. This is when Louis then said the N word and Seinfeld got awkward and a bit off put.

    I know I'm supposed to love Chris rock's standup, but I just don't. Especially now that I know he uses writers
    How ironic that Chris inspired Louis to think of standup specials as "masterpieces" and now he's the one hiring writers for his specials

      @@joeodonnell7222 dude he doesn't even try to hide it (which is better than the alternative I guess). I think they get credited at the end of his specials. It's not a secret...

      To me, you’re describing someone that really cares about the final product.. I mean, you can hire writers or give writing credits for a lot of things.. like, “ok this joke is at a level 6.. I need it at a 9 or 10 if it’s gonna be at around the 40 minute mark of my special.. let me call ____ because this is their genre of humor and they can help me tighten it up or shift the tone so I can bridge to the next joke or make the audience feel like ___”... or “ok I have this concept/storyline that I’ve been working out for a couple of years.. let me get ____ in the lab with me and volley back and forth to get it locked down into joke form.. (or help me make a joke more theatrical)”.. that’s a level of detail, study, nuance and understanding that only comes from being a master of your craft..
      When you know that what you’re doing could have historical value, it makes you do everything you can to make it right.. especially when you know how Pryor and Carlin and others impacted you..
      but you’re totally allowed to prefer the one-man-show to the curator/producer/arranger.. might be more raw that way.. where maybe he and/or his audiences prefer polish?
      Artistry and productions take many forms

    • @ishaangovardhan7430
      @ishaangovardhan7430 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gbmbg114 ...except that Pryor and Carlin were both one man shows through and through, they hired zero writers. And Carlin was far from "raw". In fact Carlin worked out the word-to-word rhythms of every single line that came out of his brain. Literally every single syllable that came out of carlins mouth onstage was 100% pre-planned and totally original, zero co-writers. So I'm not after "raw comedy" at all. I'm after originality.
      A true master of the craft is a comedian who can write their own specials from start to finish lol. As far as I know, none of the comedians on most people's Mt Rushmore of standup do what Chris Rock does. Chappelle, louis ck, Carlin, Norm, Eddie Murphy, Pryor, Hicks, patrice, bill burr - none of these comedians need other writers' help lmao. Chris is alone in this. And that's why he gets kicked off of the Rushmore line-up

    CK's comedy is easily 90% based on offending. Its why I never really respected his comedy. He's just an edge lord. His tv show was good but his stand up is just saying something edgy, nothing truly clever, smart, highly observant, just "I hate kids, saw this one kid at the airport and thought about just stabbing him, just hate'm", thats not even a CK joke yet there are ppl out there that would laugh at that like its pure gold. His audience has to be made up of highly controlled normies, ppl that never curse, wholesome ppl. His comedy just couldnt pass for ppl who are in fact edgy.
