    I dated a girl when I was 17 for a couple years. She was my first serious girlfriend and also my first. Like most young relationships, we broke it off. Even though she lived in the same town as me, after the night we broke up, I never ran into her again. For years I always wondered what happened to her.
    Then out of the blue, 20 years later she texted me. I was so happy to have reconnected with her after so long.
    We decided to meet up. It was then, I remembered why we broke things off. She was very annoying and didn't stop talking. It was like she was still a teenager. Ghost!

    Boy are they ever right about NYC then and now. I was a NY’ker in the late 70’s & 80’s in my 20’s & early 30’s, & moved on when the big money started tearing the heart out of the place. To anyone in their late teens and early 20s reading this: if you wanna learn anything about freedom move out as soon as you can. You'll grow as a person a lot and even your shittiest days will be an adventure, a story worth telling over a drink later in the evening, with people living the same way as you do.

      Just do not isolate yourself, try to befriend people
      I did the wrong things and wasted away on my computer
      It becomes a place of solace that traps you and does not want to let go and if YOU do not put a stop to it nobody else can, others can only try to help
      The longer you stay there the tighter the grip becomes and the more you will miss it when you're trying to shake it off

    • @arthurfonzarelli9828
      @arthurfonzarelli9828 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also advise kids nowadays to try to get a job where you can work from home that way you can live wherever you want and there's no better freedom than working for yourself which a lot of times can't happen

    • @8jaime8
      @8jaime8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Arthur Fonzarelli Young people today are way more isolated and lonely than kids in 70s/80s/90s - before social media. They are inundated with dopamine-hijacking’s virtual ‘contact’ with others, rather than actually meeting in person. Day to day they’re over 50% less likely to go out and meet with friends, to go to parties, or to date. Teens are also far less likely to have a job of any sort, so those are yet more hours spent alone at home. The last thing most kids need is to spend more time sitting at home alone, glued to a computer.
      Working from home can be a great option for fully-fledged adults, but the vast majority of young people would be better off working with others face-to-face. They need to get out in the real world as much as possible, mixing with others and having adventures.

      @@cicolasnage5684 the funny thing about you is that you don't realize for people like JR there is no such thing is luck. They just keep working until they find their niche. I fully agree his stand-up is so- so. Doesn't matter. Basically he monkey-branched from stand-up to supporting actor on decent sit-com to host on novelty show and finally podcasting cashed in on podcasting gig before every DList celebrity emulated his example. Dude was and is never the best at these formats, but he tries new shit and used work ethic to stand out in a then novel format until Spotify rendered up his FU money that you and those like you envy him for.

    I get embarressed hearing stories like this because it reminds me of times where I just didn't get it. For example one time during a date where the guy seemed to be enjoying himself said he had to get home cos his flatmate had locked himself out. But I said that's ok, let's go let him in and find somehwere nearby. But we got there and he had managed to have found his key by then... we had a few more drinks and then I must have realised deep down I was being ridiculed. I tried to leave but he talked me into staying. It was a disaster. I realised weeks later what had happened and I'm ashamed to this day. The truth is better for everyone no matter how embarressing it is.

      You have nothing to be ashamed of, at least in my opinion. You were trying your best. If someone is ridiculing you that is their problem and not yours. Process over perfection. I'm really sorry that happened btw.

      could have happened to anyone..! sometimes we just don't vibe with other people or like them too much, or we're simply too close to it so we can't see the whole situation. sure, its important to stay aware all the time, but damn, things happen.
      he should offer to walk you home or to your transportation situation;) that would be way kinder I think.

    And i often worry about repeating the same behavior.
    Honestly its better to get out, because eventually they just start doing that in front of everyone, and its humiliating. Ive seen my aunt do this to her partner, and honestly if i was in his position i would just leave.
