  • The Tama SLP Big Black Steel kit follows the SLP snare of the same name. It's a full and warm sounding kit (not harsh as some might expect steel to be). The kit consists of 22" bass drum, 13" tom, 16" floor tom and classic tom stand. The snare is sold separately.

Very impressive. Not only for their striking looks, but they also sound the part. Reminds me of the 80"s era. Fantastic kit Joe.

Make it in a regular line with really big steel additional drums (24" & 26" BD, 14" & 15" TT, 18" FT)

For real, I’d love to hear these in Bonham sizes.

      I have a Ludwig Centennial Moto kit - 24" kick, two floor toms - 16" x 16" and 18 x 16".
If Tama produced these drums in those sizes I'd be all over it like a nasty rash 👍🥁

The drums without any microphones or any dampening would be my favorite to listen to.

Unless you sit in a room with the drum yourself, you need microphones. In all the SLP videos, I've tried to show what the drums are suited for based on my ears. The studio is there to capture that. There are always multiple factors in how a drum sounds, but please rest assured it's not "studio trickery" making these drums sound good. Thanks for listening!

What cymbals did you use in this video?

Sorry I did not see this comment sooner. SABIANs, of course... I recall it was 21 HHX Raw Bell Dry Ride, 17 and 19 HHX Xplosion Crashes, and hi-hats I don't recall unfortunately. Could have been 14 HHX Evolution Hats.

Awesome! Will a Tama SLP Big Black Steel snare kit works on genres like Rock, Metal, Pop, R&B and classic rock? Any feedbacks? 😊

I think the kit has some versatility, and the snare as well, but it is best suited to a big, fat sound. For a higher "crack" sound, I'd go with another model.

@@joebergaminidrums I see. So that means, depending on the song, the sound of the snare should be either metal style or rock style. Hmmm.... I think I'll try this one, Mr. Joe. A little try wouldn't hurt, so maybe I could get a unique sound for the 14x8 snare. You know, try to experiment in making the best snare sound and best heads.

Yes! I'd love to cover "On The Lam" by Cavity on this kit.
