    I have this kit and keep it in a cymbal bag in my car. Hi-hat stand, bass drum pedal, throne, and a couple of cymbal booms/clamps live in a small Rubbermaid box. It's great for taking to the park or friends' houses. If you bring along a separate snare, the 10" snare makes a good mounted tom. The add-on drums seem a little expensive for the price: a frame drum or tambourine is lighter and cheaper.

      Keeping it in your car is a great idea! Yeah, it's kinda unnecessary to have a big ole 14" add on. Probably could just use 2 12" toms tuned differently.

    I have this kit.
    I replaced the kick head with a evans blk onyx emad. Sounds much deeper.
    Snare drum needs a real throw- off instead of the screw. Great kit for rehearsal or busking.

    Hello. Is there a way to make such a flat kick drum sounding more bassy and punchy?

    • @peterknudson9728
      @peterknudson9728 ปีที่แล้ว

      It has more bass resonance in person but not a lot. Changing the head can give you more punch. To get more resonance you would need to add a body to it which defeats the purpose.

      Yeah, it's impressive! Remo had a kit back in the day called the PTS and it was essentially the same thing. The Pearl is so compact though, probably the most of any out there.

    What did you do to make your snare sound better? Mine sounds awful it has a weird rattling sound to it

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Austin! I did nothing to it except adding a Moongel I believe. You just have to play with the snare mechanism and tuning range. When overtightened, the snares did have a funky slap back rattle sound. But if they were too loose it was all splatty. I have not tried a brand name head on the snare as that might help with response and tone. Those heads made in China are pretty bad. The USA made heads (Remo, Evans, Aquarian) will sound better for sure. I hope this helps!

    Tone loc 😂- luv this kit I got it for a real good price at GC so I added a Pearl fat and skinny snare and used it as a floor Tom. I use the included snare as a rack Tom and I use a very nice Dennis Chambers signature drum cause it has a lot of crack etc. not the standard look but it gets the job done and sounds good!!!

    I’m new to tuning, how can I get the tuning on my traveler bass & snare that you have yours set at?

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! Start with the bass drum and get it to a higher tone. Just stay even with the tensioning. Back it off from there in small increments. I have this drum set to a pretty flat tone meaning not going for a specific pitch. The snare is tuned to D4 . The snares are a little finicky so it just requires some experimenting. I found that if they are too tight you'll get funky overtones. I hope that helps.

    Could you please recommend a "Quiet" acoustic kit, if there's any, to use in apartment?

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! I do not know of any quiet acoustic kits on the market. However, The Black Hole product would probably be the one I would use. It will dampen the drums at least 90%. The biggest thing with apartments is that the bass pedal hitting a pad will transfer through the floor. If you can alleviate that problem then the rest should be good really. Look into Sound Off pads or the Black Hole products.

    • @Fe-Ree
      @Fe-Ree ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoomerMusicCompany thank you very much! In addition to using those dampening pads, what kit would you recommend? Thanks so much

    What do you think about it when it comes to play some rock and roll music?

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya know, it's not going to be the same as a full size kit, that's for certain. But it's not meant to by any means. In my opinion it's more of a rehearsal/practice kit. The bass drum will sound fine with a mic on it as well as the toms with some muffling. The snare probably won't have the same success with a mic on it. Maybe with some more muffling but I just don't know. However, I've never tried these with mics. That would make a good video! I have one in stock if you're interested!

    • @BoomerMusicCompany

      As is sits I would say a big nope. You would have to muffle them down substantially. The Black Holes would work as would the Sound Off mufflers.

    • @BoomerMusicCompany

      Pearl is now offering just the bass drum which is pretty awesome. I have one complete kit in stock but I'm selling it for less than that. Send an email to Boomermusiccompany@gmail.com if you're interested. Of course you can get it without the toms as I think it's make more sense to do 2 of the 12" toms and leave out the 14" tom.

  • @AnkothOfficial
    @AnkothOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you put toms and other cymbals on the snare arm and/or attach the cymbal stand tom mounts on the bass drum/snare mount?
    I'm asking because I need to get a drum set for playing metal that's relatively cheap (under £200) and will fit in my ridiculously tiny room (maybe like 3m*3m which is already half occupied by a bed and a chair).

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! I'll check it out today and see what the mounting capabilities are. My biggest concern would be the weight. I'll get back to you!

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! So, I could attach both toms onto the handle mount. I had to take the spring out of the clamps to make it go to a small enough diameter and it wiggles slightly. As far as adding cymbals you might have luck with the extensions that go on top of stands made by various companies. You would need to make sure the diameters would work together. Some companies offer small cymbal mounts that clamp onto rims but then you're adding a good amount of weight. Any chance of hanging something from the ceiling? Sounds ridiculous but can work in some situations. Good luck!

    • @AnkothOfficial
      @AnkothOfficial ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BoomerMusicCompany I think I'll go with the cymbal clamps/extensions. All I really need is a high hat and a crash/ride.

  • @archimechnik
    @archimechnik ปีที่แล้ว

    For training, if you have only two options to choose from Pearl traveler kit (with additional toms and cymbals) vs Roland TD-1KV which is better?

    • @BoomerMusicCompany
      @BoomerMusicCompany  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the Roland is definitely quieter if volume is a concern and has more sound options. I think the Pearl is better because you use an actual bass and hi hat pedal. If you're a beginner it's important to understand how to have volume control which can hard with electronic drums. A lot of beginners end up hitting electronic drums too hard because you can just turn the volume down. If you're not a beginner than it comes down to the pedals in my opinion.

    • @BoomerMusicCompany

      Sure, for the whole thing. It's a trade off. I wonder if they could use a 12" tom instead of the 14" tom and still achieve a deeper pitch. That would knock the $ down. Maybe even a 18" bass drum? I'm assuming they already tried these ideas but maybe not?
