Very cute quilt. I laughed when you said there are no quilt police. I was at a small quilt show last weekend and one of the guild members had her 2 sons, maybe 11 and 12 years old, wear black t shirts with “Quilt Police” in sequins on the front. I thought that was a cute idea as they were walking around. 😀
That’s hilarious, Linda! 😄 I love the idea of “Quilt Police” shirts with sequins-what a fun touch for a quilt show! Thank you for sharing that story, it made me smile! 😊
Love your Whole Cloth Quilt. Will definitely use the process for special fabrics that I have. Love the rounded corners. Love your idea of quilting hearts. Thank you, Stacey.
As a new quilter, I just found your channel. I love this idea for holiday fabrics. There are so many with adorable designs that I do not want to cut to pieces. Such a great idea. I think I will do this for each of my grandkids for Christmas.
Thank you so much, and welcome to quilting! 😊 I’m so glad you found the idea helpful for your holiday fabrics-it’s perfect for showcasing those cute designs! ❤️ Since you’re new to quilting, you might like to check out my free Learn to Quilt course: www.stacey-lee.com/2020/12/21/quilt-club-with-stacey-lee/ Your grandkids are going to love their Christmas quilts! 🎄✂️
Absolutely darling!! Love your hearts, and whole cloth quilts are so perfect for that fabric we don’t want to cut! Thank you for a fun & informative video!❤️💚
Absolutely beautiful Stacey. Love the idea of leaving fabric whole as I have also been in a quandary not wanting to cut into the pattern. Especially Christmas Fabric. Love the rounded corners. Great tutorial once again 😊
Thank you so much, Lucy! 😊 I’m so glad you loved the idea of leaving the fabric whole, especially for Christmas patterns! ❤️ And I agree-the rounded corners add such a nice touch. Thank you for your kind words!
Am so looking forward to your tutorial on this subject because from time to time I purchase fabric that I absolutely bond with and am not going to cut up, but I simply do not know what to do with it except for a tie quilt (nothing wrong with tie quilts -- I love them). But not even desiring to interrupt the pattern with the ties, I've yearned how to handle this dilemma. Great timing. Thank you, Stacey.
Thank you so much, Barbra! 😊 I’m glad the timing worked out perfectly for you! It can be tough to cut into fabric you really bond with, so this is a great solution to showcase the whole piece. ❤️ I hope the tutorial helps!
I have adopted a method for spray basting that I really love. I use an old flannel sheet on my dining room table and that is what I tape down. The fabric that you lay on top stays put really well and also the sheet protects my table from over sprays out past the edge of the quilt you are working on!
That’s such a clever idea, Ingrid! 😊 Using an old flannel sheet is a great way to keep everything in place and protect your table from overspray. Thanks for sharing your method! ❤️
Thank you so much, Elnore! 😊 I’m excited for you to try your first quilt-you’ve got this! ❤️ If you're new to quilting, you might like to check out my free Learn to Quilt course: www.stacey-lee.com/2020/12/21/quilt-club-with-stacey-lee/
Stacey, great tutorial. Love that your hearts do not overtake your beautiful patterned and colorful fabric. Rounded corners look great. You look absolutely beautiful. Appreciate and enjoyed your sharing of your escape from the two hurricanes. Thank you. Will be making these.
I’ve made two quilts both using spray basting. I feel like the material shifted a little so I would definitely try pin basting and spray adhesive next time! I want to make both my nephews quilts for Christmas! Just started sewing and quilting after getting a sewing machine for Christmas this past year. Found your videos! I absolutely love them 😊Also beautiful quilt ❤

Beautiful! This is a lovely Idea to make little baby blankets. I have to try this. Must Order Christmas fabric next month. Thank you so much, Stacey, you are the BEST teacher.
Thank you so much, Petra! 😊 I’m thrilled you loved the idea, and it would be perfect for little baby blankets! ❤️ Have fun ordering your Christmas fabric-I can’t wait to see your creations!
I ordered material from Etsy, planning on using it for decorations for a baby shower. When it arrived, I was gob-smacked. It was the most beautiful piece of fabric I had ever seen. The thought of cutting it just made my head hurt. I'm so glad I found your tutorial! I won't have to cut this gorgeous piece of material, I can quilt around the geese, and I really love the rounded corners. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much, Laynie! 😊 I’m thrilled that the tutorial helped you find a way to showcase that beautiful fabric without cutting it! ❤️ The rounded corners are such a fun touch! Enjoy quilting around the geese! ✂️
Thank you! I have some beautiful fabric I have been toying with 'how to cut up" for a baby quilt. I am going to do this! it will be quick and beautiful. Thank you for the push - I absolutely adore your posts. They are so easy to follow and always so practical.
Stacey, that was a great quilt. I never thought of a quilt as one piece of fabric. What a classic idea. The fabrics you used are lovely. I think I’ll do some fabric shopping. I’m so glad to see you are back and providing more of your excellent content. I just purchased a walking foot for my Juki sewing machine and will be trying and praying I get the stitch in the ditch correct so that I may complete my pumpkin table runner. Everyone is right. You look very pretty in your outfit. Can’t wait for your next video. 🙂
Thank you so much, Cheri! 😊 I’m so glad you loved the quilt and the fabric choices! ❤️ Good luck with your pumpkin table runner and the walking foot-it’ll be great, I’m sure! And thank you for the sweet compliment about my outfit! I can’t wait to share more videos with you soon! 🎃✂️
Stacey, this turned out so lovely. The 🩷quilting is adorable. This is such a quick quilting idea. The rounded corners are a nice change from traditional square corners. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Debbie! 😊 I’m thrilled you loved how it turned out, and I’m glad you liked the quilting and rounded corners-they really do add a fun twist! ❤️
I use 505 spray all the time. It works better if you spray the wadding (batting) on both sides. It stops the glue staining. I don't use pins anymore. I love straight line quilting too. I have also hand quilted hearts in a quilt. It took ages, but looked really lovely. Thanks for your videos ❤
Thank you so much, Art Gallery Fabrics! 😊 I’m so glad you loved the tutorial and the rounded corners! ❤️ It was such a joy to use your beautiful fabric in this project. 🎄
I love it ❤! The rounded corners made me nervous as I'm a brand new quilter, but you made it look doable AND it added so much. Saved to my tutorial playlist 😊
Thank you so much, Kim! 😊 I’m thrilled you loved it! Don’t worry about the rounded corners-they may seem tricky, but you’ve got this! ❤️ I’m glad it made it to your tutorial playlist!
Stacey, as always a very informative video! I have a few special pieces of fabric that I've not wanted to cut up, but didn't know what to make with them. You've given me the confidence to try this method. I really do not like pin basting as it's my least favorite part of making a quilt, but I know it's necessary. Now I need to try the spray! I'm not very good at the quilting part either, but I really liked your hearts and I'll give that a try as well. Love the rounded corners, too!
You are so good! I love this tutorial. I have never wanted to use a template for anything and you have made the quilting template so easy. Thank you over and over again. 🌸😊🌸
Thank you so much, Vinni! 😊 I’m so happy to hear that you loved the tutorial and found the quilting template easy to use! 🌸 It means a lot-thank you! ❤️
Thank you so much! 😊 That’s such a sweet memory of your grandmother-rounded corners really do add a special touch. ❤️ Tracing a plate is a classic trick!
Great tutorial and right before Christmas too…hint hint…gift idea! You asked so I’ll comment still too much spray. Odif is my favorite, but expensive. Basically you want to use as little as possible to get it stick. And safety pins not necessary unless it makes you feel more secure. After all…as my son says…you do you. And you said, “there are no quilt police”. I really do love your tutorials. Thank you so much for posting them❣️
Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback! 😊 I really appreciate the tips about spray and pins-you’re absolutely right, it’s all about what works best for each of us. And I love your son’s attitude-"you do you" is spot on! ❤️ So glad you’re enjoying the tutorials! 🎄
beautiful lady, beautiful quilt, fantastic video as always. love, love the whole concept. easy peasy. you look great with your hair down, NZ hugs via Australia. xxx
Thank you so much, Elizabeth! 😊 I’m so glad you loved the quilt and the video! And thank you for the lovely compliment-sending NZ hugs back to you in Australia! ❤️🌏
Thank you for sharing the lovely tutorial with us Stacey, the material is so pretty and I love the rounded corners. A lovely size for baby quilts or Linus projects x
I love your whole-cloth quilt! Looks like a lot of fun to make. I can imagine a cute Valentine quilt, especially with the heart quilting! Thank you for the heart template. ❤
Thank you, Charlotte! 😊 I’m so glad you love the whole-cloth quilt, and a Valentine version sounds adorable with the heart quilting! ❤️ Enjoy using the heart template!
Always enjoy learning something new about piecing quilts and quilting. Had no idea there are templates for quilting designs and completely forgot about rounded corners, which are such a nice finish to a quilt. Thanks so much for the video. It was a delight to watch!
Thank you so much, Karen! 😊 I’m so glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful! Rounded corners really do give such a nice finish, and quilting templates are a game-changer! ❤️
Great video .. I can see myself doing one of these soon .. and I do use pool noodles to baste .. my secret for using pool noodles is to lay each noodle on a flat surface and mark a straight line from one end to the other .. this is helpful to start your fabrics/batting straight on each noodle otherwise your fabric can go wonky .. ask me how I know .. again, I loved your video ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 😊 I’m glad you loved the video, and that’s such a great tip with the pool noodles! Marking the straight line is genius to avoid wonky fabric-thanks for sharing! ❤️❤️
Enjoyed your video! I almost always do whole cloth quilts for baby quilts. No stitches to pull out when it gets washed. I like to do straight line quilting such as chevrons coming out from the middle or a grid of squares. I use minkee on the back and it shows off the stitching beautifully! (And I don't entirely trust the basting spray, so I both pin and baste!)
I have found that the 505 spray works really well. I have never used pins. Another thing..if you use pins you may damage your table, so one needs to be careful about that. Thank you Stacey for this great idea!
Thanks for sharing, Wanda! 😊 I’ve heard great things about 505 spray too. And you’re right-being careful with pins around the table is so important! ❤️ Glad you enjoyed the idea!
Maybe next time use the longer side of the table? I think you could have basted it all at once then. What a beautiful idea with the hearts and the rounded corners! 💜
You are right hahaha! That was waaaay too much spray. Probably double what you needed. Move faster and fewer back and forth passes. LOVE this easy quilt. Perfect for holiday or other novelty fabrics. Thank you!
Hey Stacey! 😊 I honestly had never thought of doing this before, and the quilted hearts is a great idea too! Thank you! Also, I just wanted to compliment you on your dress today, it looks really nice on you, and the colour suits you well!
Hey Pamela! 😊 Thank you so much! I’m glad you liked the idea of quilted hearts-it adds such a sweet touch! ❤️ And thank you for the lovely compliment on my dress, that means a lot! 🌸
This has nothing to do with the video, which I loved and am totally going to do by the way, but I just finished my very first duvet cover thanks to your encouragement! I wanted something fall-like, so I just did patchwork style in fall colors, but I went back to all your videos on how to piece and attach and such; It is so perfect in my eyes and I love it-my husband even commented how nice it was! In one comment section you encouraged me to try quilting and while it wasn't exactly a quilt I made it had all the elements (except for batting). Anyway, thank you for your kindness and amazing teaching skills. You always make me feel like I can do it and it doesn't have to be perfect.
Wow, that’s amazing! 😊 Congratulations on finishing your very first duvet cover-it sounds beautiful with the fall colors! 🍁 I’m so happy that my videos and encouragement helped you along the way. And I absolutely love your attitude that it doesn’t have to be perfect-just making something you love is the most important part! ❤️ Keep up the fantastic work, and thank you for your kind words! ✂️🌟
I’ve never spray-basted because I’m always afraid it’s not archival and can damage the fabric by not washing out completely when I wash the quilt with a neutral soap. Maybe it’s just the old chemist in me that doesn’t trust propellants/alcohols and fabrics. Lol. Like you, it just seems counterintuitive. I used to be one of those who used binder clips to hold the quilt onto the table. Now I know it doesn’t need to be taut! I still use a large 6 ft (2 meter?) banquet table (or 2!) to pin baste. It’s easy to throw cutting mats underneath so I don’t worry about scratching the table over time with the pins.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 😊 I completely understand your concerns, especially with your chemistry background! It's great that you’ve found a method that works well for you with the pin basting and binder clips. And using cutting mats to protect your table is such a smart idea! ❤️
I think a combi approach is a good method to use. I made a baby quilt a few days ago and simply basted the layers together with (a lot of) pins. I was only doing straight line quilting but didn't use my walking foot. Afterwards I then found there were some puckers in places where I guess the layers hadn't stayed together well and shifted unevenly so I had to unpick a few sections and try to manipulate and adjust the layers and requilt those places with the walking foot on. This did improve the appearance but I think I could have avoided the puckering issue altogether by using some spray baste as well as the pins!
This quilt is adorable!!! Quick question, how much space did you leave between the rows of hearts? And thank you for the heart template too. Thanks for this great tutorial. 😊
Very cute quilt. I laughed when you said there are no quilt police. Thank you so much, Lesley! 😊 I’m glad you loved both fabrics and the rounded corners! ❤️ They really do give it a nice finish! ✂️
Love the quilt ❤❤
Thank you, Paula! 😊 I’m so glad you love the quilt!
I'm doing this for my Grandaughters Christmas quilt. You're a genius, Sweet lady. 😍
I hope your granddaughters love it! You're such a thoughtful Grandma! 😊
Thank you! 😊 Whole cloth quilts with minkee backing must look beautiful, especially with straight line quilting! ❤️ Thanks for watching!
Beautiful ❤
Thank you so much, Julia! 😊 I’m glad you think it’s beautiful! ❤️
Great suggestion, Rachel! 😊 I’ll definitely keep that in mind for next time. I’m so glad you liked the hearts and the rounded corners! 💜
Hi Stacey! Great idea for a quick, cozy quilt. Sorry to miss chat last night. I had people over for dinner! 😊
Thanks so much! I'm sorry you missed the chat too! 🎉 You had people over for dinner already, that's wonderful!
For my last quilt I used Crayola washable markers to mark out my pattern, worked a treat.
That’s such a great tip, Sascha! 😊 I’m glad the Crayola markers worked so well for marking your pattern. ✂️ Thanks for sharing! 🌟
This is fantastic thank you
I'm so glad you liked it! 😊
You are right hahaha! That was waaaay too much spray. Probably double what you needed. Move faster and fewer back and forth passes. LOVE this easy quilt. Perfect for holiday or other novelty fabrics. Thank you!
Haha, you’re so right, Janet! 😄 Definitely a bit heavy on the spray! I’m so glad you love the quilt-it’s perfect for holiday fabrics! ❤️ Thank you!
Your quilt turned so pretty. I love the rounded corners. I'm going to do that on my quilts. ❤☺️
I'm so glad you liked the quilt and the rounded corners! 😊

I spray and pin and have been doing pretty good with that method.
Thanks for sharing, Mickey! 😊 It sounds like you’ve found a great method that works well for you! ✂️ Keep up the great work! 🌟
I have only made two quilts, so I’m no expert, but I was taught to use a few pins even with the glue like you did.
Thanks for sharing that! 😊 Thanks for the tip -it’s always good to have a little extra security with the pins! ✂️
I love this! Thank you for sharing this
Thank you so much, Valerie! 😊 I’m so happy you loved it! ❤️ Thanks for your continued support!

You're very welcome, Suzanna! 😊❤️
Just loved it! Rounded corners came out to be more neat and pretty. Thanks 🙏
Thank you! 😊 I'm so glad you liked the rounded corners!
Good to know, thanks for sharing! Thank you so much for watching ❤
This quilt is adorable!!! Quick question, how much space did you leave between the rows of hearts? And thank you for the heart template too. Thanks for this great tutorial. 😊
Thank you! 😊 I’m so glad you loved the quilt! I left about 2.5 inches between the rows of hearts. I’m happy you found the heart template helpful! ❤️
Spray basting certaainly helps!
It really does! 😊 Spray basting makes things so much easier! ✂️
I love rounded corners. I have a big problem getting mitred corners.
Thank you, Laris! 😊 Rounded corners are such a great alternative if mitred corners are tricky. They add a nice touch without the hassle! ❤️
I spray baste and use just a few pins in the outside and center just to be sure there is no movement
That sounds like a great technique, Kathleen! 😊 A little extra security never hurts! ✂️🌟
