Too bad he couldn't see the success this song would have years after he recorded it.
Actually, it had exceptional success when he recorded it, and for quite some time afterwards. It faded, like many do, but has recently enjoyed a resurgence.

Have always loved John Denver songs so the title caught my eye. After watching Jared start singing I was hooked. Fantastic voice and the dancing kept me watching as well.
John sang with a European group that dressed like Mozart and sang the instruments. I bet would love this. I met him twice, he was a very nice man and cared deeply for humanity and Mother Earth. I miss him and Windstar.

When I clicked on this, I didn't know how much I needed it right now. This is one of the songs we sing during "campfire" (there's no fire, too dangerous. Too dry) at the camp i work at in the summer. And it is home, even if this will only be the second summer I've worked there. But right now its up in the air as to of i get to go "home". My report has already been moved back once, and I've been seriously missing it. This reminded me so much of being at camp and being "HOmE" (heaven on earth). And I really needed that. So thanks for this.

Born and raised in West Virginia! Thank you! Heard that after I left WV for a good job that John Denver came to West Virgina University for a football half time. Just the one song. He thought he would be there for 5- 10 minutes and then fly back out in the helicopter. But after he finished, the crowd gave him a 20 minute standing ovation! Country Roads is our unofficial state song. "Thank God I'm a country girl" in Texas now.
