    I installed a sick sound system on my first gen. It's an HX35 with the silencer ring removed and an open 4" downpipe LOL

      I've got those installed as well. That's typically why my stereo is completely off

      On that note Facebook marketplace only has the option to list as d series so much sure to look for locking hubs on any trucks listed as d series if you want w series.

    I have an 89 D150 that my grandfather gave me recently. Still has factory speakers and the door speakers are dead (or maybe the wiring is just old and crusty). Zero bass. With newer music and digital audio systems these old speakers are just abysmal and I'm no audiophile. This baby definitely needs a modern sound system if nothing else.

    When I bought my 93 1st gen back in 2010, it came with an aftermarket stereo unit installed by the 2nd owner. I changed the stereo head unit over to the Sony Xplod and upgraded the 6x9s in the doors. I changed out the stock rear speakers in the Club Cab over to Pioneer- while keeping the stock speaker housings. Unfortunately, the previous owner did not utilize a wiring harness adapter when he installed the aftermarket stereo; therefore, I am unable to revert back to the stock head unit. I prefer the stock units in all my vehicles.

    • @decentgarage
      @decentgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I do like the stock units as well. There are a few companies now converting stock units to be able to do Bluetooth so you can maintain that look.

    I found a stock Chrysler 1.5 DIN (from a 99 Jeep) cassette HU, modded it for an aux port and a switch to activate it, put those in the dash next to the cargo light button, also added pre outs to it and replaced the belt on the cassette player. Installed Infinity 6x9s in the doors and drive em with a 100WPC amp. Also Dynamat. Lots of wiring, soldering, and looking up datasheets for the amp chips on the HU circuit board but worth it for stock look and function (I hate aftermarket HUs) Looking to add a sub behind the seat next. search "aux port Jeep TJ stereo" for the aux port mod, but I don't remember where I got the preouts off the circuit board tho.......

    I have a 90 W150 with a busted radio. I sourced a factory radio from a junkyard (wanted to keep it as original as possible. The best part is, the CD player doesn't even work, lol. I just use a Bluetooth transmitter. Not the best audio at all, but it's better than silence.

      Even though I'm looking into upgrading the speakers, I'm okay with driving in silence because I've got cherry bombs on my D150 lol. It's not offensively loud but it still sounds excellent
