    Awesome work Matt. Really enjoying watching this series. Can't wait to see the car back on the road! One thing, you can get step up adapters for sockets. I have a nice 6 piece set from Draper. Also, you need to get yourself an angle guage to fit your torque wrench. Luckily my Teng wrench has one built in. Came in very handy when I replaced my head last year.😎

    On the subject of 'grit'.I've had to rebuild engines in worse situations. Spotless ,well equipped shops are ideal but if you can get a compressor and blow the crank-case thoroughly you may save a bit of scoring of soft bearings here and there.Flushing oil is also a good move after a short run.It'll be fine, Someone way in the future may get to strip it again and see a few scores and scratches.

    • @furiousdriving
      @furiousdriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, Ill be dong a couple of break in oil flushes but although its not ideal its been bagged in a clean plastic bag every time I stop so it has stayed pretty clean thankfully

    **TOP TIP** Get yourself a plastic cat litter tray from Home Bargains (other Supermarket's are available) for about £3.00. They're ideal for cleaning engine parts in them as they're a good size. Perhaps not as cheap an old milk carton, but a good workshop addition ;)

    Amazing what you can do in less than ideal circumstances. Congrats and how exciting for you. Did I miss something? If you put on the carbies that are set up for the smaller engine, won't it run horribly lean? Maybe I've got the theory wrong. I'd love to know. I recently repaired the diff from my Austin on the kitchen bench, but I gave myself permission to do it :-)) Cheers

    • @furiousdriving
      @furiousdriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The SU's can be tuned to give enough to run OK but not to its full potential - probably for them best as this engine can make too much power for the gearbox and diff! Id be in far too much trouble if I was caught with an engine in the kitchen!

    I think you should definitely go for the twin SUs for now, since you already have them. The best engine is the one you can drive ;)
    Later on you also have the alternative of the OEM Buick 215 intake, which takes a 2 barrel carburetor. Cheaper than the Offenhauser route and you could get a bit more out of it than the SUs
