It's not just that they got the harmony and the phrasing....they've got the feeling of the song, the angry, resentful, regretful outpouring of bad love gone wrong. Masterful use of the fiddle to step in for Lindsey, catching the theme and the beat on a different instrument. Just outstanding.
The 4 part harmonies are just Incredible! I know Howard has a lot of musicians come in to the studio to record live. This sounds better than any studio version could ever be. Also love Amanda doing the "Whooooo" in the background like Christie McVie did for a Fleetwood Mac. And her violin playing is at expert level. Loved that she threw in a little "we didn't start the fire" at the beginning of the coda . Amazing. Could listen to this on repeat for days and not get sick of it
Those higher register grace notes caught my attention too. I hadn’t noticed them in the original version but went back and listened… yep there’s Christine doing the same part. Haven’t heard another cover of this song that included it. Also, Amanda’s 5-string violin gives her the ability to go down into a viola’s space. She really makes great use of that here.
The fact that you, Amanda, and Brandi Carlile are in a band together is just almost too much to take. You are two of my most favorite and admirable women in music and all of entertainment. Thank you for forming the Highwomen.
My goodness! I never thought I would ever hear a cover of this great song that matched up to my favorite Fleetwood Mac live version but lo and behold I just did!! Incredible!!
This is an impressive LIVE performance with backing by Jason Isbell. I love the studio version of this song, but this live version is right up there. The Highwomen nail this and I thank them for their efforts. I know of their other songs, but this version of this song is just epic. Please keep breaking molds and recasting older songs into newer molds. You've got the handle on it.
I tried to find a PG response but all I can say is "Oh Holy Fuck!!!!" Somewhere well past spectacular. These women set a whole new standard. Thank you!!
My all-time favorite version of this song. The voices, the instruments, all spot on. And the fiddle caps it in a way that guitars just can't match. Hope to keep hearing more and buying more CD's from the Highwomen!
WOW-ZER ... Now that was what I call " AWESOME " ... and I loved the use of the Violin in that song and the harmony was "Top notch"! Very Beautiful, talented group of women! 👍👍🤠
An electrifying performance! These women are individually very talented but together, this is entirely something better, more powerful and just fine work.
My goodness, I just this moment heard this group and this performance for the first time and I am floored. Such vocal ability gathered in one group and performing an American classic LIVE and to my shock actually OUTperforming the original. Amazing. I applaud you all.
The first time this song touched my soul so well tears filled my eyes with Joy ; ) Thank you all for a beautiful job. And I might add Beautiful Lady's : )
Wonderful! It's another example of what Howard Stern makes possible with his available airtime. Good live performances by today's relevant groups ( and some classics) plus deep, thought-provoking interviews. It's not ALL Potty Talk!
I love this cover. I don’t know if I just love the harmonizing but this is a song I find normally boring but could listen to this version over and over.

Exactly correct.
Well said.
Every few months I come back to this cover and every time it gives me goosebumps

This performance deserves more recognition. I'm grateful to have been moved by it again & again.
Amen
Wow. I got chills, my ladies. This ain’t just a cover, this is an event.
chills fits so very well. An amazing song elevated. I confess to a crush on Amanda Shires but the musicianship across the board is stunning.
Combo of the ladies and the guys in the band make this one potent song.!

I can't find enough superlatives for this performance. What a great group of talent.
So good!
And really nice of Ms. Shires to give her husband some work as a side man.
Howard has an incredible studio. He always said once he could, he would do it right and he did.
My goodness! I never thought I would ever hear a cover of this great song that matched up to my favorite Fleetwood Mac live version but lo and behold I just did!!
Incredible!!
Me too!!!
This is just a cover! The original by Tantric is better
@@brentschmgbert3578 This song was written by Fleetwood Mac!!!!! I used to own the album.

@@slystonedtuna Are your ears painted on?
Chills every time!! The harmonies and the fiddle. Ugh! So, so good!
Yes, they have a wonderful blend! And that mournful fiddle❤
Great singing and with Isbell and Shires on guitar and violin just makes it all the better. All the ambience come from their playing.

I just keep coming back to this again and again. Thought Stevie was only one that could give them chills to you but this gets me too.
Incredible sound and synchronicity! I love acoustic bass! Wow, I'm glad I've finally discovered these Highwomen.
For me this is the best version ever with very clever use of the violin to fill the missing vocal.
Best cover of this I've ever heard!
def one of my faves .. not sure about the best.
Roaming roots version with roddy hart and lonesome fire blows this away ..
Check out justin Johnsons version
Ever heard the original?

Some Incredible Women right there. The guys were pretty good too. Thank You all!!!
This is effing amazing nobody ever did a cover of Fleetwood Mac this good
What a brilliant cover guys.. absolutely beautiful piece of music.
WOW-ZER ... Now that was what I call " AWESOME " ... and I loved the use of the Violin in that song and the harmony was "Top notch"! Very Beautiful, talented group of women! 👍👍🤠
Amanda Shires is a top-tier fiddle player
Bloody wonderful rendition..spirited, raw and powerful. All the elements co.bine beautifully!
Why bloody
Power of music on display!!
In this epic version, The Highwomen have made this song their own! Impressive and I ❤️ it‼️
No they haven't. It's a note-by-note lifeless bar band cover.
@@johnshannon9656 You must be tone deaf?
@@johnshannon9656 Every symphony orchestra is a cover band, too, and a lot of symphony halls have a bar.
God, Amanda’s fiddle could make a statue cry
Loving all of this, especially Maren hitting the Stevie Nicks part and Amanda with the fiddle and high part.
Amanda - you are GREAT in this! And look at Jason, looking all gangster in the background with the twins !!
Great cover. These ladies absolutely crush it.
Such a perfect pairing of song and musicians!
And here I was thinking there was no way on earth this Fleetwood Mac gem could get any better…..
You just teared me up!
An electrifying performance! These women are individually very talented but together, this is entirely something better, more powerful and just fine work.
Just Wow.
Jason Isbell sitting back there all incognito. Ladies awesome cover. Keep doing what you are doing.
