1. Remove the key lock cylinder cap. Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder on the driver door handle; then turn the key counterclockwise, to the unlock position five times within 10 seconds. The Driver Information Center(DIC) displays REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
2. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). The DIC display will again show REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously known transmitters will no longer work with the vehicle. The DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN, then press the ENGINE START/STOP button. (You may have to open and close drivers door to see the DIC display). Remaining remote key fobs can be relearned during the next steps. The DIC display should now show READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
4. Place the new smart key fob in the cupholder .
5. Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the transmitter is learned, the DIC display will show that it is ready to program the next remote key fob.
6. Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket and press unlock or lock on the transmitter.
To program additional transmitters, repeat Steps 4-6. When all additional transmitters are programmed, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for approximately 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
Thanks for the step by step . Worked for a '21 SS and a ZL1 . Great video , easy to follow.
You're Welcome! Glad it helped
@@PYR-Autowhat to do if you can’t get the plastic piece off on the door handle?
bro you’re goated saved me 300$ much repsect to you
Glad it helped!
I needed this in 2017 🥲
All I’m gonna say is, it worked 👌🏼
Nice!
Saved the day 🙌 great video !! Thank you
You're Welcome!
Thank you! Helped me program my SS remotes!
You're welcome!
Thanks!!! 🙏 ❤
You're Welcome!
Thank you so so much for this video !!!
You're Welcome!
can this work for a 2019 camaro ZL1?
very clear and descriptive, thanks
You're Welcome!
I followed everything exactly as you did, Now my car says theft deterrent system. The remote works and the car starts but every time I start the car i get that message. I also have the orange light of the car with the lock symbol on my instrument cluster. Any advise. Car is a 2020 Camaro.
This is for the 2016 camaro. A 2020 Camaro will require 2 key fobs be programmed. Programming a second key fob should fix the issue
Did u take out the key from.the door and put it back in the fob before u put the fob in the cup holder? I'm about to finish the 3rd step. I had to get old remote and thankfully it worked but now I have the theft deterrent light on!! How do I remove that?
It doesn't matter if you put the emergency key back in the fob or not - it won't effect the programming. How many remotes total do you have to program?
Great video however I didn't follow yours video, just the manual and this is how it works. Little different situation, I purchased my 2019 LT1 convertible Camaro with one key fob and I got second blank from ebay. I was scared erase my original with this procedure but everything went smooth and now I had two programmed key fobs. Manual 32-33 pages
I have one remote as well, I will check the manual. Did you get the "key" part cut on the blank?
Did you end up erasing the other original key
When you say have buttons facing rear in cup holder, exactly what does that mean?
So when I take my 🔑 and turn it left 5 times do I take it out or leave it there ????
Looks like you're supposed to leave it in the door
Helpful video, thanks!
You're welcome!
I have a #2 fob and a # 3 fob. Can I make my #3 fob a # 1 so I can set my seat position on my Camero 2SS?
Yes - the procedure shown in the video erase all previous remotes. The order in which you program the remotes back in will determine driver number. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for each remote after the first one is programmed.
This is exactly my question, but now it’s setting for a 4th key fob! Not what I wanted to do.
Does this work with a remote that has been programmed on another chevy to make it work with another car? I have a spare from a 2017 Camaro, would like to know if I can use it on a 2020 Camaro.
These fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed and need be unlocked up someone with the correct equipment before they can be programmed to a different vehicle.
Can I do this reset after removing and fix back my BCM
not sure on that
Do you have a different video when you have existing key fobs, and want to program an extra?
We don't have a video yet but you can find the text instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/camaro-browse-140.aspx
@@PYR-Auto thank you
@@PYR-Auto a little confusing instructions. Says to put BOTH recognized key fobs in the rear cup holder, but it doesn't really say when or if i am supposed to REMOVE both key fobs?
Or add the new one to the other two?
Is there a danger of erasing a working key fob?
I need help after doing this it says theft deterrent mode, how can I get rid of this? PLEASE HELP
Programming a second key fob should resolve that issue
Will remote start still work like a normal key?
Yes, it should function just like your original
Can I order any compatible key for my Car and it will work?
Yeah as long as its the correct key and the key is either new or unlocked.
Is a 2020 Key fob the same as the 2016
Yes
If I have a key and the fob is going dead. Can I use my old cut key in a new fob?
Yes
Or replace the battery
Maybe you've already made one and I missed it. got a new remote for an 13 SS, just a replacement as the old Ione is worn out. My car has an actual key and thats what I still use. Should the new remote be calibrated for a certain frequency standard for the car? Is there a sequence of steps I need to do? if so, Do you know what or where I can find instructions? Lastly I've begun to consider the remote might be wrong and thats why it wont pair. I actually found one(1) video, easy three steps 2min total, but it wont pair to my car. sequence was key to on key to off switch on with new remote then turn car on. The guy on video made his new remote pair so after a few disappointment and frustration I gave it up. Anything you might think relevant will be great. Thank you for your time and help.
You can find the text instructions for a 2013 Camaro here. What you are doing sounds similar but maybe you are missing something www.programautokeys.com/classified/2013-chevrolet-camaro-ignition-transponder-chip-key-programming-instructions-listing-9146.aspx#.Yoz3aC-B2w4
Why didn’t you tell us that damn alarm was gonna go off everytime
I have a 2016 with one working fob. If I buy a new one and follow these steps how do you reprogram the current working one? Does that have to be flashed and treated as a new fob as well?
There is actually a shorter procedure you can use to add a key if you have at least 1 working key. You can find those instructions at the link below. You will will want to use the instructions for the vehicles with the PEPS system www.programyourremote.com/classified/2016-chevrolet-camaro-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-7463.aspx
@@PYR-Auto If I have a new remote with an uncut key, can I use the cut key from the already programmed remote to program the new one?
Hello, i want to program remote for camaro ss 2016, when i read remote with vvdi show chip locked, i can do a procedure to program or need a new remote?
You will need to use an unlocked fob
How could I do this with a 2015 camaro? , it has no engine start button , just traditional key in steering column. Please help
You can find those instructions here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2015-chevrolet-camaro-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-7419.aspx
Could i use another key fob from another camaro and reprogram to my camaro?
You can but it would have to be flashed (unlocked) first. These fobs lock to a vehicle once programmed and need to be flashed before they can be programmed again.
@@PYR-Auto what do i need to do to unlock?
You will need someone with the correct hardware and software to unlock them. You can find those services online but it would probably be easier just to buy a used one that has already been unlocked.
@@PYR-Auto any recommendations on where to go to get a key fob unlock
I've actually never used any retail unlocking services so I wouldn't know who to recommend
What would the procedure be if you need to make an extra key fob? Already have 2 but wanted an extra one.
You can find the programming instructions to add a third key fob here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2018-chevrolet-camaro-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-7509.aspx
My camaro is having problems with reading the key fobs I changed the key fob battery and still nothing. What else could it be?
Take off the negative battery for 5 min and put it again
Hello great video.
I have a camaro with total crash damage.
I have the keys. So I bought another camaro same year 2017. Do you think i can reprogram the same remote contoller?
No, these fobs lock to a vehicle once they are programmed. They will need to be "flashed" by someone with the correct equipment before they can be programmed again to another vehicle.
@@PYR-Auto thanks alot
You're Welcome!
Where can I go to get the key cut?
Where ?
I’m turning my cut key 5x but I am not getting the remote learning pending message
some vehicles only show the messages for a few seconds right when the door is opened - I would recommend just going off of the time rather the messages on the dash
I programmed a fob for my 2019 camaro ss, the fob worked great but, in the morning the car would not start.
Any ideas?
I'm really not sure. If the fob started the car after you programmed it but then would not in the morning, you may have other issues than just the fob.
if you have 1 working remote, what is the procedure to program a second remote ?
You just need to re-program your original remote during the procedure as it will be erased. If you look at the steps in the description box of the video - you need to repeat steps 4-6 for your original remote after the new one is programmed.
Dose this work with remote start
Yes - if the vehicle has the factory remote option installed. The fob needs to match your vehicle's options.
I programmed the new key fob but now the remote start doesn’t work
I'm having issues with the final step. I only have one key to program. When I push the start button for the 12 seconds to exit the engine starts as it supposed to. When I come back a few minutes later it won't start and is asking for the second remote and the theft deterrent light is on. I can hold the start button again for 12 seconds and it will start but the theft deterrent light is on.
programming a second remote should fix that issue
Second remote fixed it. Thanks
Maybe you know the issue for my 2016 Camaro. Took it to the dealership and there trying to make me replace both my key fobs and they don’t know if it will fix the issue. Both of my remotes all the buttons on them work. But I get a no remote detected message on my dash and have to place it in the cup holder in order to start my car and with that the buttons on the handles and trunk do not work either but again I can unlock, lock, open truck and remote start all from the remote but the car itself is saying it’s not detecting my remote. I feel like the dealership is trying to take my $$$ they want 150$ for the diagnostic and they didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know. They said let’s start with replacing the key fobs..... I’m not made of cash if you have anything to help thanks!
Did both of the remotes used to start the car with no issues? Did they both stop working at the same time? Have you tried replacing the batteries in the fobs?
I replaced both batteries. And they both stopped at the same time. One key was the original the other I got in 2018. Got it all fixed today dealership gave me a break and only cost 300$ but still annoying. Apparently they programmed a new remote and it worked fine. Then they tried reprogramming my two keys and still had the same issue. They found a BCM update and ran it and then my key from 2018 is now working like normal and the original is dead. Other then for the cup holder use. Very strange issue. And there’s not a lot online from what I seen looking the last 2 days trying to figure it out.
I have never experienced it personally but have definitely heard of BCM issues causing problems with the smart keys on these newer GM models, so that makes sense. If multiple smart keys stop working at the exact same time that usually a good indication that there is a deeper issue than just the key batteries themselves, but that's always the first place to start. Anyway, glad you got it fixed!
How’d you fix this issue? my car does the same thing every time
i have an xtra remote with cut key but does not lock or umlock it looks brand new, how can i add this remote so i can have 2
What year is your Camaro?
actually its a 2016 cadillac ats.. i heard its the same
The instructions for adding a remote to a 2016 ats are below. However these remotes lock to a vehicle once programmed so if the remote you have has ever been programmed to a different vehicle it will not program unless the remote has been "flashed" by a professional. www.programyourremote.com/classified/2016-cadillac-ats-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-8552.aspx
@@PYR-Auto alright thank you so much for your help
WHERE DO YOU TAKE THE KEY TO GET CUT?
Automotive Locksmith or Dealership
I have a key I need another key for the 2016 Camaro
If you already have one working key there is shorter procedure you can use to add a key. You can find that here www.programyourremote.com/classified/2016-chevrolet-camaro-keyless-entry-remote-fob-smart-key-programming-instructions-listing-7463.aspx
I did those steps and now the remote start doesn’t work
Man my Camaro won’t key fob remote start…the lights just flash as if it’s about to start but does not.
Hi how are you doing I have the same problem I don’t know what’s the problem
Did you ever get your remote start to work? If so what was wrong I just bought a used 2018 Camaro and having the same issue..?
I just want to ADD another key fob to a push button equipped GM.
What year is your Camaro?
To be clear, when I program a fob all other will be erased? One of our key fobs was stolen along with my wife's purse. Since they have our address we want to cancel out that fob so car doesn't get stolen.
Yes - this procedure will erase all previous fobs. Any previous fob that you still want to work for the vehicle will need to be reprogrammed.
@Program Your Remote thank you very much. Appreciate your help
You're Welcome
OK, I reprogrammed my only fob, the car won't let me out program mode. It keeps saying "ready for key 2" .
Am I stuck until I purchase a new fob? The security light in the instrument panel is lit up. "service theft deterrent "
Holding down the stop/start button for 12 seconds may allow you to then start the vehicle but you will still need to program a second remote to fully exit programming mode
Shit don’t work ima just have to take it to a dealership and let them fix it my remotes are detected it’s not even dead the signal is off on my car
5 turn and nothing 🙄🙄
I have a 2018 camaro ss, it was in an accident and the airbag symbol is still on the dash. I have 1 key and the other key was lost. I tried to do it but even when I try the 5 turns do nothing. I have a feeling that the airbag symbol is the problem and I wanted to see if I'm right or is it something else. Thanks
I don't know for sure but it could be preventing the vehicle from entering programming mode
