Thank you for showing what digital certificate is and is not. It was very informative 4:00 to see how the document has not been changed since the signature.
Katherine, thank you so much for this video! I've been searching for a clear explanation of the digital certificate. I'm also in Texas. Loved that you got straight to the point and showed an example!
Good morning. Can you please tell me which headset you are using in your videos. You have the sound I’m looking for. I purchased a Jabra headset and it sounds like I’m speaking into an old telephone. I’m going to return it to Amazon and I’d like to get the brand you’re using. And, thank you for all your videos. They’re informative.
I am just starting to do RON in washington state, I am using two platforms that supply digital certificate for free, However I talked to the the State, and they do not require a digital certificate. I have double checked twice and all the require is to know which software platform you are using. The only require I get the electronic endorsement on my licence which I have. I have my digital seal, and signature uploaded. I have not done a RON yet as I am learning both platforms I intend to use, before I venture out in to cyberspace. I wonder if this is unusual in Washington State, or do some other states no require certificates? Your input is greatly appreciated
It’s common for platforms to require you to upload your digital certificate, whether or not your state requires you to keep one registered on file with them. The digital certificate is uploaded to your platform profile so that, every time you digitally sign a document, it is applied to the document automatically by your platform. Each platform will notify onboarding notaries which digital certificate is required on their particular platform. As states evolve their processes and procedures, they will likely all eventually require online notaries to register their digital certificates with the Secretary of State office. It is the validation the document was actually signed by the notary whose name appears. To check authenticity, which is imperative, the digital certificate is needed. It makes sense states will want to verify who signed what when fraud issues are investigated in the future. This is why we believe all states will eventually request digital certificate proof from each online notary. Currently, for example Texas has each notary register one digital certificate. Florida allows their notaries to register multiple digital certificates (handy when a notary is on multiple platforms that supply the DC to the notary). Some states, just like you’ve discovered, don’t require it yet!
Super helpful and right to the point! Thank you. I'm following, subscribed, and I hope to find more useful info ....btw I'm getting ready to contact Identrust...I'll let them know you're looking for a check from them😉😊😊 And hey I'm in San Antonio, Texas!

Can you tell me how to sign with the digital signature my Texas Secretary of State
Statement of Officer? Same document you are showing on this video
Samantha Miller has a video showing how to do it.
Did you drag and drop from your local desktop to your secretary of state file?
Is there another program I can use other than Adobe to sign my Oath?
where can I find the statement of officer form?
i am in Texas , if i move to another state can i still use the remote online notary certificate in another state, just the online certificate?
I think you can! You'll want to make sure whatever platform you choose in your new state will accept the IdenTrust cert. :)
The requirement is that you have to be in Texas to online notary for everyone in USA, not the other way around, because your seal said TEXAS.

Can’t I create these using Adobe Acrobat? And just save the file?
No, Adobe doesn’t create the digital certificate. You need to purchase it from a company like IdenTrust.
No help at all
