The best ever Colin the Caterpillar was sometimes made by my Gran for special occasions and as a treat when I was just a kid. That would be around 1950. Sadly she is no longer with us otherwise she could have sued [insert here] for using her ideas and the name Colin. It was a bit of a joke when Gran said, 'I'm going to bake Colin.'

Sainsbury's are doing an extra long caterpillar cake now which is double the length and is AMAZING. I got it for my partner's birthday.
