    Hi Brighton,
    Thank you for the review, Also interesting I have experienced that presenting videos using Powerpoint as a Teleprompter software is a great way that helps to look and sound natural on camera because you always have the whole concept in mind therefore you maintain eye contact with the viewer, than using word-for-word script.

    Great review, Brighton!
    A teleprompter is a game-changer for me, I mirror-flip my Slides using ppt mirror app with bullet points for my iPad and use them in a teleprompter to lead me while I speak so that I keep the conversation on target without reading the script to keep eye contact with Audience.

    Brighton, that's a great, relevant topic and solution. Please tell us which external monitor to go with, the Liliput is no longer available. The key point I heard you make is that the external monitor must be able to display in REVERSE mode. Can you please recommend a monitor to us? I want to implement this immediately. Thank you !

    if you are recording a video, you can use an iPad with a teleprompter app and look straight ahead. It comes out quite well. Your eyes are focused just below the iPad camera...hardly noticeable. I even used this once to make a short speech. The iPad was actually hidden on the podium. I looked up frequently to make eye contact, and the audience did not know I was reading the presentation.

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great idea. As long as you are reading the line of text right below the lens, that should work well. If you start reading the center of the iPad, then it might get too far off.

    Brighton, thanks for your detailed and informative videos. It has opened up a lot of possibilities for me. You mentioned a 14 inch monitor, however the link points to a LILLIPUT A8 8.9 Inch Video Field Monitor. You indicated that the size is important, hence this query.

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry - I've updated my recommendation. The key is that the monitor cannot be more than 12" wide, or it won't fit inside the teleprompter tray.

    Great explanation Brighton,
    Powerpoint slides with bullet points in a teleprompter is inevitable instead of using script, especially when it comes to sound natural on camera and keep eye contact with the viewer because you don't read word for word, but you would have to mirror-flip the slides.

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed! Using the Lilliput monitor, you can easily flip your entire screen. I'm guessing there is a way to do that inside PowerPoint too. What I'd like to see is a way to make your presentation translucent so that you can see it on top of a Zoom window. I can only dream... Thanks for commenting!

    Very cool! Question: is the image quality affected by crossing the teleprompter?

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A little bit. It takes away some of the light. But your webcam will compensate for that. However, if you don't have much light to begin with, your webcam will compensate by making it more pixelated.

    Good information. I need one more step... If you screen share information, won't it be inverted in your teleprompter? I tried using a teleprompter app and other than scripts, it does not support reflected screen sharing. Any suggestions?

    Hi Brighton, your videos are great. I have the absolute dumbest desktop design ever (lenovo) with the camera BELOW the monitor screen! Ugh. I have to buy a webcam now so I appreciated your other video about webcam choices. Also, I found a great teleprompter solution - Teleprompter Pro by Microsoft (if you have a PC) and it scrolls right on the desktop while my camera records! It's 8.99 for the app with a free trial. FYI.

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it's just a Zoom call where you're looking at a person, then the mirroring shouldn't matter. However, I have an updated system with a monitor that can reverse the image: th-cam.com/video/ol0dcoXE05M/w-d-xo.html

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is the 11.6" one. I've since found that you can have use a bigger monitor and just put the image in the center of the screen. It doesn't sit flat in the tray, but it works just as well (and for me, it stops a big glare from my ring light.)

    Could you use an iPad instead of external monitor?

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Eleanor. You should be able to use an iPad connected to your computer instead of an external monitor. However, you cannot reverse the image to make it show up correctly in the teleprompter mirror. That's not a problem if you are only doing one-on-one video calls. But if you are trying to share a PowerPoint or trying to type notes on the screen, then you need a monitor like the Lilliput to make everything appear correctly.

  • @sarehpouryousefi1940

    This is a great solution. Questions: Is it possible to use an ipad as an external monitor? I don't have an external monitor and need a quick solution. Also, the logitech cameras are sold out in my region so I have to use a cell phone (an Android). I am planning to connect to zoom with my cell phone and to use an ipad in the tray (I'm using advice from your past videos, thank you). The problem is that I don't think I can share my screen with my cell phone (at least not seamlessly). I could log on to the zoom call twice, once with my cell phone and once with a laptop computer that I'd use for screensharing, but I'm not sure that would work.

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's possible to use an iPad as an external monitor, but there are a few different ways depending on the age of your iPad and your computer (assuming your computer is a Mac.) The old way is called Duet (an app for your iPad and your computer that ties them together.) The new way is called Sidecar. There is also something called EpocCam which should turn your phone into a webcam. I just found it and I'm having trouble making it work...

    • @sarehpouryousefi1940
      @sarehpouryousefi1940 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@brightonwestvideo Thanks a lot for the very helpful reply. Sadly I am using macOS Mojave on a Macbook Air, and it looks like Sidecar is only available for Catalina. That's strange as the Macbook Air is quite new. Regarding the webcam, I actually have a simple/small logitech webcam, so I may be able to make it work so long as the second screen situation is sorted out.

    Could you use your phone for the camera, as the external video cameras are hard to purchase at this time?

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You cannot have any light behind the glass (so you couldn't use the front facing camera and have the LCD visible.) But if you used the rear camera and hooked your iPhone to the external monitor that is in the tray, that would work. It would be like this video, but instead of a TV, you would have the external monitor in the tray. th-cam.com/video/5--zCUbNAOQ/w-d-xo.html

    • @brightonwestvideo

      Yes - you need to use Autocue software. If you're on a PC, there may be software to reverse the screen. Not possible on a Mac. You can also find a portable monitor that will invert the text. They are usually small and called field monitors.

    Hi, Brighton! Can I use the exact same set up but with my DSLR? Let me know and I totally plan to use your affiliate links. I just discovered your videos! New Subbie here. 😎 Also do you recommend any other monitors for this setup, as the Lilliput Monitor does seem to have the best amazon reviews of it. Thanks so much! 🤓🙏

    • @brightonwestvideo
      @brightonwestvideo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tanya- thanks for the kind words and subscription! You can put a DSLR in the teleprompter. However, it can be tricky to connect a DSLR to a computer to use as a webcam. There are other less expensive options for monitors if you plan to only use it for Zoom calls, and you are OK with the image being reversed (you won't be able to read text and using your mouse will be really hard.) But if you are only looking at faces, mirrored isn't a problem. The Lilliput monitors can be reversed (to show up correct in the teleprompter mirror.) Just don't buy a monitor that is too big. I wouldn't exceed 13" like this one: amzn.to/3oxD6jt
