    I picked up the Bob 18gr a couple of weeks ago and I think is a winner, at least for naked porta filter’s, less channeling, the puck comes out clean and easily, regarding taste not a big change, in my opinion….

    Mark was clearly wired. I could imagine him doing handstands off camera. Funny stuff.

    Great video Marc. My next purchase is going to be a precision basket. This was very helpful. Merry Christmas my friend :)

    Nice one Marc..Does the Bezzera Matrix DE has led light at the back as well? I think I saw their logo that lights up?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi J, Thanks for the comment. The Matrix DE and MN do not have the lit logo on the back of the machine. You will find that on the Bezzera Duo MN and DE machines. They're identical internally to the Matrix models.

    Would have been nice to hear more about how the BOB effected grind size and shot time. I have one of the BOB baskets (Niche grinder) and in my experience you have to grind more corse to get your shot times in line. Jury is still out on “better” (or sweeter) shots.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi UV, Thanks for the comment. Grind adjustment coarser/finer as compared to stock basket depends on what stock basket you're coming from. I believe we did discuss how we changed grind size in relation to the stock Bezzera baskets.

    It was briefly mentioned but is the BIT curved tamper necessary or just a recommended add-on? Specifically thinking about the renato single baskets, but only makes sense for me if I can use my current tamper.

  • @rayoyakawa
    @rayoyakawa 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I got the baskets, tamper and shower screen. However, the baskets do not have a groove to lock into the portafiter. How do you empty the puck?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi r, the majority of precision/speciality baskets do not have a groove. So long as the wire inside your portafilter is good the basket should stay in place when knocking out the puck.

    Ok another question Marc. I’m using spring water and sometimes I use the BWT pitcher. I have the limescale pouch in the tank also. Am I using too much minerals in my machine. Should I just use bwt pitcher and pouch or it’s ok to use all. Also I’ve read about that perfect coffee water where you use distilled water with there pouch to mix with which I’m Leary of. Pls advise. Thank you much.

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi BP, If your spring water isn't hard (they generally are not) then you'd be fine using either the pitcher or the limescale pouch. You do not need to use both. Remineralizing distilled water is an option with third part mineral packets but in most cases your better off with one of the BWT filters.

    Tried to pull a single shot with the BOB10 not great, on my gaggia classic pro. Stock single basket way better IMO.

    QQ : what would make your espresso more textured (thicker) and maybe sweeter?
    Would a basket actually influence that?

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Simon, Yes a basket can influence espresso. Higher coffee dose in a filter basket usually makes for a thicker mouthfeel. So using a basket with higher dosing capacity gets you there. Depends on machine but most stock baskets max out at 15-17g. After market precision baskets usually have higher flow rates than stock baskets. That allows for use of a finer grind which (depending on coffee type) can result in sweeter shots that are more juicy in mouthfeel.

    Thanks for the video! I have a nanotech IMS portafilter (18g) andI find it’s not as easy to dial in as with the ECM stock one. I need to make the grind finer and it’s already almost at the maximum on my E6P. Even the jack leveler has more trouble tamping. Any tips? Thanks
    Nicolas

    • @Wholelattelovepage
      @Wholelattelovepage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi r, Thanks for the question. Most precision filter baskets have a higher natural flow rate than stock baskets so will use a finer grind. The Ceado E5SD grinders we used are very similar to the E6P but just setup for single dosing. You should be able to grind fine enough to the point of chocking the machine with the E6P. If having trouble tamping with the Jack it may be your coffee dose is well below the filter basket capacity so the Jack is not going deep enough to fully compress the coffee. Use a smaller basket or increase the dose weight.

    I have vst, pullman, and ims baskets. Not a lot of difference in taste using the same roast of coffee. I'd go more for a better shower screen instead.

    Nice Info. 2 things... 1st - the Link to the filter baskets on the website appear empty. No info there and 2nd - Every time Marc was describing something, the dude jumped, interrupted him and talked over him without letting him finish. Seems rude in my opinion, but it's probably due to his 1st time on a video. Cheers

      Hi Ruben, Thanks for the comment. Nick and I know each other well and sometimes do talk over each other. The links are acting a little weird - I'll try and fix.

    David. I have a Gaggia Claasic Pro.. Which basket would be correct for a non pressurized single shot?

    • @Wholelattelovepage

      Hi David, Thanks for the question. For single shots go with the 90+ for sweeter shots with higher-end coffees: www.wholelattelove.com/collections/portafilters-and-filter-baskets/products/barista-improving-taste-renato-filter-basket-90-plus
