    Bro you can change the controls to work like a regular dual analog stick shooter. It’s not the default option, but play around with the settings and you can make it control normal.

    Not to mention the AI, they searching for you if you escape the fight, you can shoot the gun out from their hand and they use the secondary. If you throw a granade to a group of enemies sometime they throw it back, sometime one of them jump on the grenade to try to save the rest. You can shoot somebody in the leg, and they start limping etc... Yes, it was a long time ago on PS, and even then, was not the best looking game and nobody had any idea how to program good controls on console for an FPS, but the AI behaviour beats most of the modern days AAA games (2016). It is a shame. One more thing wich does not ecxist anymore: Split screen multiplayer, with dedicated PvP maps.

      Detective Lizard
      2010 and Warfighter are Medal of Honor in name only. They lack everything that once made the series good. They are the worst games i have ever played.

    • @detectivelizard9532
      @detectivelizard9532 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +RevanBladeZ I haven't played them. I've only played Allied Assault plus the expansions and Rising Sun. 2010 and Warfighter look like they're just trying to catch the Call of Duty audience but the trick is that they already have Call of Duty so why would they need another game like it? I bet a WW2 return with modern graphics would be such a welcome return to the franchise.

    • @RevanStarrrR
      @RevanStarrrR 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Detective Lizard
      Yeah they tried to catch the Call of Duty audience but the thing is, Call of Duty developers know how to make a heavily scripted shooter work. Developers of these two games clearly did not.
      The story was barely even there,
      the scripted scenes were not impressive, there are moments where they try to add length to an already short game by having the NPC:s talk some shit before opening the door and both games are so linear that its painful.
      Example, near the very beginning of Warfighter, there is a scene where you cant aim away from a head of an enemy without shooting. Later in the game there are sections where you press the button and game starts playing for you. The game is just full of moments where you press button and then watch things happen instead of having full control over your character.

    • @detectivelizard9532
      @detectivelizard9532 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +RevanBladeZ I hate it when they remove control from you ingame. Ever since I played Return to Castle Wolfenstein a couple years back campaigns that force me to listen to exposition in the middle of a level annoys the hell out of me. One reason they do it is to hide the fact the level is loading so they make you listen to the beef head soldier until the part of the level has loaded and he'd slam the door open.
      I bet if they did a WW2 MoH game now it would be a welcome return though how well it would sell is a different question entirely.

      +RevanBladeZ They probably wouldn't be impossible to port unless they lost the source code (which happens).
      Though even if they had lost the source code, sega has posted a lot of their games on steam running on emulators, so they could just develop custom emulation to maximize performance on windows for these games as well.

    This was the first video game I ever played, my Aunt's boyfriend had bought a PS2 and donated his PS1 and all the games to me and my sister, I must have been 5 or 6 at the time. Support for the console was long dead (it was around 2005/6), but I didn't know that at the time. Still, the M1 Garand sound will forever bring me back to a much simpler time.

  • @Fools_Requiem
    @Fools_Requiem 9 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I loved the old MoH games until Rising Sun came out and ruined everything.
    Also, I'm pretty sure you can change the controls so that the left thumbstick allows you to strafe and the right thumbstick to aim and turn. I wouldn't have been able to play it otherwise.
    The only thing I didn't like was the lack of a crosshair when you weren't aiming.

    This is one of those games that deserves a remake/remaster on a pc, MoH: Underground included. Adding mouse support, a higher aspect ratio, and a greater field of view would easily make them better to handle. A great example would be the remaster to the N64 classic Turok. I can see it happening with MoH. I don't know why nobody has ever picked up on this idea. Copyright, difficulty in porting maybe?

      +Ambassador Pineapple AAA devs+publishers are no more interested in WWII games.
      These days only modders (Project Reality WWII or Insurgency WWII mod) and middle tier devs like Tripware (Red Orcherstra 2) can do some new things in that setting.

      +ripoutyourprejudice Noooooo...it's a sequel. Halo: Anniversary Edition. THAT'S a remake.

    • @aedanclarke
      @aedanclarke 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +ripoutyourprejudice So a single mission? That hardly classifies it as a remake. Most of the missions are completely different.

    • @aedanclarke
      @aedanclarke 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ripoutyourprejudice Well, I'd say that it's expected that the game's missions would feel similar. You wouldn't buy a sequel to your favorite game series, only for it to feel very different. Medal of Honor always had the kind of feel of "authentic, but pushing it," where they did a good job making you feel like a soldier in a bigger war, but putting you in situations in which you were pulling out really important shit, often by yourself. At least it did in the earlier entries. By the time they started dishing out the PS2-era MoH games, that feel had changed entirely.
      As for the mission pack - I never got around to playing those, so I can't comment on them - but the mission pack is just a mission pack. It doesn't necessarily make the entirety of MoHAA a remake or anything, IMO.

    • @ChrisMathers3501
      @ChrisMathers3501 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ripoutyourprejudice
      Again, no. It doesn't matter if it's the same place, because it's a different time and a different character. That's why it's more sequel than remake.

    Oh boy, a Medal of Honor review spree. My only real complaint with this review would be the mention of the dated analog controls. I have this on my shelf. I played this on my Silver PS2 which is sitting in the living room. It is an excellent game the game play is where it is at and I have no problem with the visuals because I know it's sense of spirit because I played most of the other installments save one. This is where the amazing theme and sound track all started. I am also in Love with World War 2 history and such. Though I don't think I will ever play COD WW2. It is funny because my friend dropped this off and said here it's "Sims 2000". It was a futuristic Sims game for PS1. Once I opened it up one late night for the hell of it. It was not sims it was MOH and Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2. The split screen PVP is still awesome and there are many cheats and codes you can unlock various characters my 2 favorites being Raptor and Bismarck. Bismarck was a German Shepard patrol dog, as well as slide shows from different Devs about things in game during development and jokes as well as pictures of them and their families.

    One of the greatest games ever. The soundtrack is incredible. It's cool Steven Spielberg was involved. This was one of the first games ever where I saw enemies reacting to bullets. As a kid my jaw dropped when I saw Nazis jumping on grenades or holding their sore crotch after a penis shot.

    I think the modern FPS genre should die already, but I think to top the series off they should do a modern remake of this game, keep the core gameplay mechanics but tweak some things to make it play better. Hire professional Hollywood A celebrity voice actors to play the roles, give it an orchestral score from a real orchestra and just make it epic!

    This game was one of my favorite PS1 games when I first got the system. I still love Medal of Honor to this day. Shame that EA just took this franchise and ruined it by trying to make it Modern Warfare. EA, if people want Modern Warfare 2, they'll go get Modern Warfare 2, not some wannabe that destroys the name of an great game series.

    "Show me your papers please" I really love this game. If you complete the game 100% like I have you get a fantastic extra level unlocked. I won't say what it is because it would ruin the amazing surprise.

    FANTASTIC! hopefully you'll do alot more playstation 1 reviews in the future :D that was a little something i'd like to call "The Variation Age" where mostly some if not all Playstation 1 games had variety in gameplay, concepts, mechanics, stories, and the list goes on, it's nothing like now a days ' where games are just copies of themselves to appease the people who MAKE them; with buckets of money. n_n Even the PS2 was still in the variation age aswell! so that was pretty bad to the A$$.

    Anyone else getting hit by that "darkness glitch". Thanks to this review i dug up a copy of the game that i got with the system when i got it from my brother. Well i started playing it on the PS3 and on mission 1.2 and 1.3 i got hit by the glitch which make's a part's of the level disappear to darkness and force you to restart the mission. I saw some people claiming that the glitch is exclusive to PS3/PSP version's but i also saw someone saying that it occurred even on PS1. Does anyone have further info. I was thinking about trying the game on PS2 but the whole thing is bumming me out which is a shame because the game seem's actually pretty good.

      I used to have the same with MoH Underground on my JB Ps3 I restart many levels more than 2 or 3 times but finally I finished the game... Now I'm playing the original MOH on my PlayStation classic... No problems so far.. The controllers has no analog sticks but the game is pretty playable till this time even like that!
