I really do respect your exploits and commitment for adventure guys ! What you do is informative and enjoyable viewing . I only wish that I had the bravery and half of your get - up - and - go 👍
Freddie your enthusiasm for all of the aspects of your journey is infectious. We started following you on your 1st trip to Tenerife and we look forward to your new videos and relish watching them when they are posted. You may not realise this ( I'm sure Monica already has) that you are a natural born travel vlogger , looking forward to your future travels !
I came across your channel by accident as I'm looking for videos on the Fiat 500. I'm amazed your 500 has traveled 200.000 miles. I love the 500 travel videos and I say this with respect, you remind me so much of the rock star Freddie Mercury. Maybe that's why your channel is so popular!!! Monica is a keeper my friend she is lovely and I say that with respect as well. Keep safe!!!👍
Hey Freddie, 😁 Been watching some of your brilliant vids, caught covid 8 days ago and your videos have kept me going, (got a VN900c in the garage been unable to ride it , feeling so ill.) A few years back we rode to Switzerland via Dijon one way and back south of Paris on some of the Coast roads on a VN800c and a Yam XV1600 taking in some stunning scenery and beautiful villages ! Keep it up buddy. Adrian Ellis ( Norwich area) Your Veiws on the type of road was interesting as we tried toll roads and back roads
Wowzers another great vlog and such beautiful places, for some reason I was having flashbacks to my childhood watching chitty chitty bang bang, the scene where the child catcher goes into the village square trying to lure the children out of hiding with the spine tingling word “Sweeties” 😳it use to scare the bejayzus out of me😂. Loved the interaction with the dog, little thing’s like that really make us smile 😊 Keep up the great vlogs and look forward to the next instalment.
Salamanca is a beautiful place to explore. The placa mayor is breathtaking along with Roman architecture and cathedral and further north near Santander is Santillada la mer which is an exquisite ancient town with one the oldest universities in Europe also the caves of Altimera with prehistoric paintings. Northern Spain is a beautiful place to explore. Great vid guys.
Hi, a great video and the dog had been trying to get in there all it,s life . Yes Spain of the beaten tracks has some fine and out of the box places to see . The history of the area must be amazing , when you see the south as fishing villages up and till the 1960,s . Great work and thanks , stay safe and enjoy your trip .
another outstanding video!..I love European history...being hundreds and hundreds of years old..seeing the stone building and cobblestone streets...and thinking about what those buildings have seen...the good and the bad...and the people who have walked those very same streets centuries ago....outstanding...and am sure Monica breathed a sigh of relief..lol..no farms around..LOLOL...excellent job...be careful please...looking forward to your next video..
Really glad you enjoyed it, Kevin. I feel exactly the same every time I walk in places like this I think of all the killings, the conquests and the religious acts the walls must’ve seen- a fascinating place!
@@FreddieDobbs same in the UK...castle ruins...stonehenge etc...would be amazing to see...i would have to pick a splinter off of a 500 year old door as a souvenir...LOL
I´m so glad you got off the beaten track and discovered that area of Extremadura/Castilla Leon. I live in Madrid and regularly head out that way on my GS - biking heaven. Come back some day on the bike.
Yes, and thanks for the tour of this tinny part of Spain, and you're right to take your time if you're not in a rush, welcome to my country soon, enjoy le pays basque, it's also very nice, you'll probably pass close to Saint Jean de Luz and Guethary, Bidart, these are nice villages to stop by too, different atmosphere and nice chipirons to savour, grillés a la plancha of course, avec du citron
Hi Freddie Subscribed after watching your excellent Transalp video, & what i found after watching a few more videos is just a regular, coffee sipping articulated passionate bloke who supplies informative statistics about the subject matter & not reams of unnecessary figures & an excellent partnership with Monica on the camera... 5:15 Cruce de las Herrerias. I have stayed at both the hostals in this village. The 'abandoned hotel' you refer to is a restaurant. It was a good one. Sad to see it closed. The second hostal was just off the roundabout as you enter the village from the south. A minutes' walk from this restaurant. I have stayed in some characterful Spanish villages like this at 10:00. I agree. This is what road trips are all about. 14:40 If this was England, someone would nick the bike and trailer. Fantastic video.
Ahhhh thanks for the heads up- what a coincidence that you’ve visited the same place! 14:40; this is so true- I haven’t locked my bike for eight months and now back in England, it is double locked
Freddie, this vlog illustrates perfectly what my wife and I love about rural Andalusia. I’m west of Huelva having just arrived for six weeks of chill. Looking forward to your next adventure. Des
Hi guys yet another great trip report Freddie and Monica some fantastic locations and beautiful villages on route home have a safe journey all the best.
Another David Attenborough level detailed dissemination and spectacular view of the local environs.... even the voice is similar!! Thanks, loving it!! Great vids by Monica too, never jerks the camera, always smooth and complementary to Freddie's view and discussion... :)
You are quite right to stop and smell the roses on your route. That stop over was fantastic. However, I would have been tempted to loosten those ratchet straps, and offload the bike for the daytrip. Wouldn't have taken too much longer than detaching the trailer from the car. Talking about the car, 40 odd mpg with all that load on is very impressive. And on a high mileage car too. It is a credit to you both that it looks so smart. Great little car. I reckon it should be a keeper. You can't part with it after all these adventures.
Agree 100% Freddie.. a road trip should be enjoyable and relaxed, taking time out to see gems along the route or off-route like you. Thanks for another amazing video.. much enjoyed!
As a birder as well as a biker, and having dicked about with freezeframe around 1.16-1.18, I can confidently state that bird was an Iberian Azure Winged Magpie (Cyanopica cooki). :)
Another entertaining video from you both. Been watching for a long time now and always look forward to your videos. Have a safe journey back to blighty and see you in the next one...
We left Spain in 1975 > I met my Wife there then and did a lot of driving and never encountered a town like that . Well who knows what I was tripping on back then. He Freddie…how’s the 500 running ? My wife has a 500…the same colour as yours…and it’s a cracking little motor…not fast but it just plugs along and gets you where you need to go. I retire in a few years and will lose my company VW Golf 2 litre R line and I’m already thinking about what car me and the wife can share. We travel from Stoke to Cornwall quite a lot but I’ve never done it in the 500…always use the Golf. But your amazing trip has me thinking maybe we should just upgrade our 500 for a newer one, maybe the hybrid model…we’ve had several Fiats and never had a problem…also they don’t cost a fortune to run. Hi guys, Should you pass by Lyon, on your way up France, just let me know. I’ll be happy to offer you a place to park, in a garage, next to my Royal Enfield Bullet, and a drink in the old town 😀 Cheers and enjoy the trip! Alex
The town of La Alberca is not in Andalusia but in Castilla y León, in the old Reino de León (Kingdom of Lion). Salamanca province. Nor San Esteban de la Sierra is in Andalusia.
Nice place in San Esteban de la Sierra. Quaint but very practical and a curious friendly dog into the bargain! I liked the description of La Alberta and the women beating the Portuguese army and nicking their flag - would have been nice to see the flag but maybe off your itinerary. Surely has a resonance for women's movements today! Better not dwell on that too much. The buildings looked hundreds of years old. That was an interesting detour into rural Spain which we don't get to see much of.
I say buy! It looks great, it will be brilliant (I’ve never ridden one, but all Honda CBs are great👌🏻), and it’ll be able to di everything (commute, tour, fast enough)🤩
