  • For this series I’ll be taking you with me through New York & New Jersey to various Music Stores & Record Shows. Sifting through CD’s, vinyl, and whatever else the stores have to offer. Then at the end I’ll un-bag the loot and discuss why I chose the ones I did. Come on…let’s go to the record store!
    For previous episode (#41), see link:

    Absolutely love to "waste" a day cd shopping. One of my few guilty pleasures in life. Thanks Brendon.

    In 1982, Dramarama formed in the basement of a record store in Wayne, New Jersey, owned by founding member Chris Carter.[2] Carter operated the alternative record store Looney Tunez Records (previously known as Dirt Cheap Records). Initially the line-up consisted of singer/songwriter John Easdale, "Mr. E Boy" (Mark Englert) and Carter, later joined by Peter Wood on guitars and Ron Machuga on drums.

    "Flip-Flop" is Guadalcanal Diary's best album. Remember seeing the music video on MTV 120 minutes for "Always Saturday" and I was hooked.

    Great video. Quatermass were an awesome but underrated band. Their first album includes "Black Sheep of the Family", a song that Rainbow covered for the "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" album from 1975. Cool place, Princeton Record Exchange. But, oh my gosh, the music on the background is an invitation to sleep!

    Really like these videos where you visit the record stores. But the background music on this one is brutal.

      @BrendonSnyder  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I know it was driving me nuts too. Usually during my visit they will mix it up a bit and some rock and metal are played too. But this time, for 3 straight hours, nothing but what you heard.

      I read this before watching and I thought he’s just exaggerating it’s not THAT bad….after watching, yeah it’s pretty horrendous! 😬

      It's a Conor Oberst record, just to ensure you can avoid the artist in question in future.
      EDIT: for most of the video anyway, no idea who the wailing female singers are toward the end of the footage.

    Great trip! The first album, Arcadia, I own multiple copies on vinyl, cd, cassette.(and T-shirt) It's a dark 80's pop art masterpiece. Also, Guadalcanal Diary, I once found someone's random receipt on the side of road back in 1990, went out and bought it, fun stuff, "always Saturday". Keep on rockin and Merry Christmas!

    Lucifer is amazing…. Have their catalog at least to date. Little bummed, missed their recent show in the Philly area since I’m down here in Florida. They haven’t come down here in their latest run.
    Hahaha… have to bust chops - you always say you aren’t a fan of the live records, but it seems like every video of your CD hauls includes live records!! Hahaha….
    Man, I miss Princeton Record Exchange.

    Speaking of political speeches, as mentioned in relation to TED, which is his RIGHT, I also continue to enjoy Pink Floyd, despite the shit Mr Waters keeps saying. Everything is fine, as long as we don't fall into idolatry, which none of them deserve.

    I liked the Captain Beyond 2fer for $8. You must already own those. The Y & T debut album was a great find.. got the vinyl and CD. And I must get that Nektar Live.. that could be the audio to the DVD Live, they put out in early 2000's.. It's Awesome, but it has "Recycled " on it, which yours does not. Cool finds.

    Nice find with Quartermass. That's a great CD! Where did you find Yesterday & Today on CD? I'm not a huge fan, but really want to own the first album as I've heard a lot of good things about it.
    Thank you!!

    Spread Eagle is a pretty good band….Rob Deluca now plays in UFO….he’s good friend w/ my friend, Bill. The CD you picked up, Saraya she was on the soundtrack to Wes Craven’s Shocker film….she did the track, “Timeless Love.” Nice grab of Sepultura, Overkill & Testament.

      Yeah it’s interesting all that Rob has done outside of Spread Eagle. The band is working on a new album now. I’m looking forward to it. While I liked the last one it didn’t sound like their first 2 albums. I’m hoping the new music has a more classic sound.

    Brendon, I saw you pick up a Frampton album. Do you have any Humble Pie in your collection? I too also like the all-girl band Girlschool. I too, thanks to Duff McKagen have respect for Iggy Pop.

    • @BrendonSnyder
      @BrendonSnyder  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have some later era Humble Pie but none of the early classic stuff. It’s a little too bluesy for my tastes.

    • @davej.meister5421
      @davej.meister5421 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BrendonSnyderIf you desire, you could always opt for a compilation just to dip into the band's earlier classic stuff, then work your way when it grows on you. Rockin' The Fillmore (HP's last album with Frampton in the lineup) has the band's classic live hard rocking rendition of "I Don't Need No Doctor." It's really heavy - almost proto-metal. Dee Snider has occasionally played it on The House Of Hair as part of his Greasy Roots Of Metal feature. And Ozzy during his classic Rockline interviews has often said that HP was one of Sabbath's earlier influences.
