- Y'know at this point I'd be more surprised if Jeff just let the players y'know...play Survivor...

Xander not using his extra vote at the Evvie boot is baffling. He could have used his idol but the extra vote essentially accomplishes the same thing by forcing Danny/Deshawn to flip
The extra votes have pretty much never been used properly and I have no idea why.
I forgot he even had the extra vote there what the heck, I was too focused on the idol. C'mon Xander what were you doing??
This was the move that sank Xanders game. He just stop playing strategically & just rolled himself under the bus.
@@nin_tendo6458The only good extra vote play was Maryanne's and even then it technically wasn't necessary since Omar most likely goes home on the revote. Still the right move though. I guess it's just a situational advantage.
@@drewlmao Nah I'd say the only good use was Shan's extra vote (41) and the worst was Maria's (46)
they really just love to completely undo the whole point of the merge and randomly split into two teams instead of actually swapping into 2 tribes for a couple of rounds
apparently i heard its because its production finds it hard to edit a swap but i just find that completely bs, especially with 90 minutes
That's one of those arguments i can look at and go "hm..maybe" until you actually dig a bit deeper into it.
Surely a merge is harder to edit, because there are more people there. It's 13 pick 12 relationships, which is 78 different dynamics to explore.
Meanwhile, a tribe of 7 has 21 unique relationships, multiplied by 2 to give us 42 to edit in the episode. Almost half.
Man, I should do more Survivor maths...
I kinda find it funny that Tiyana fully intended to go to rocks at her elimination tribal, granted Kyle might not have gone with her despite being immune, so Rachel’s block a vote could have booted Gabe
But also, I think you’d be *completely insane* to not use the safety without power when you’re paired up with 5 people that have spent all game together
It's one of those scenarios where
Oh hey do you want a chance to do a potentially big move that may backfire horribly, or guaranteed immunity? C'mon Jeff I know what I'm picking...
The fact that American Survivor is fun to watch is 100% in spite of production's fuckery
I wonder if they've got some kind of bet going to see how much fuckery they can pull before we all quit
Thanks for uploading, need a distraction from this election
Me too, and I don't even live in the states...
11:50 as someone who has tried both in games me and my friends used to do, I can say that split tribals are consistently mid in quality, while double boot tribals are high variance. like, on one hand, the first time we tried it, an underdog alliance used an idol play for one vote, followed by flipping a member of the majority alliance on the second vote, which was hype. on the other, the last time we did it (which will forever be the final time), the underdog alliance was able to take advantage of a majority split vote for one amazing elimination, but they got the wrong person (they were aiming for the member of the opposing side with an idol, but didn't know who it was), and on the second vote, after 3 idols were played, a member of the underdog alliance got voted out, and after that the rest were all taken out back-to-back, barring one round where the last one standing won immunity.
meanwhile, for split tribals, it's usually just a basic 4-2 vote (we did it at the final 12 but started jury at 13 those games so both boots make it), with the occasional idol play to spice things up the slightest amount.
As a former avid ORGer who may or may not have been taken out of the game with an idol in my pocket during a split tribal, I agree. It feels so confining to play with such a small group, and unlucky when you're randomly put in a group you aren't working with. Meanwhile you've got way more room to freestyle in bigger groups!
9:07 also Ghost Island and Island of the Idols
That's a pretty big miss on my part, thank you! Luckily from what I recall, both those tribals were pretty mid
Still big mad at Shii-an's fake merge catastrophe.
An absolute travesty...Survivor never recovered...
I think it would be interesting if you did a video based on final tribal council seatings. I recently rewatched all of the new era seasons (the seasons where the winner had been crowned on island) and I noticed that every winner (except one) sat in the middle seat. Erika, Maryanne, Yam Yam, Dee, and Kenzie all sat in the middle. What’s even more interesting is that in 43, Cassidy sat in the middle seat. This makes me think that production put the player whom they thought were most likely to win in the middle seat so they could get the best shot, but didn’t guess right in 43. Could just be a coincidence tho
I've briefly looked at this, but in all of these scenarios it seems they've gone Man Woman Man seating or Woman Man Woman seating, with coincidentally the one in the middle being the winner. Possibly a good followup to my video on the intricacies of tribal council seating, I'll see if there's anything more there!
@@HenryHickmanSurvivorI love that you seriously consider all of your fans theories and inputs. I’m sure no other channel’s listeners feel so listened to. Thanks for what you do!
@@clary4455 and I love that I have a community who cares about Survivor as much (probably even more) than I do! Extremely grateful for all comments and inputs
For the All Stars swap, Jerri herself was the one who insinuated that it was rigged and that the buffs were stacked in a way where you could only pick the top one off. As for why; Rob and Amber were not audience favourites until the airing of the season, production wanted Lex and Kathy to make it further since they were popular pre-AS. (Plus a possible BRob revenge arc for voting out Amber)
According to the Survivor Historians Podcast, they had someone give them intel that production tried their best to rig everything for Aitu (they did not want the majority white alliance to win out) including swapping challenges, letting Aitu take more food from rewards and most likely the bottle twist wouldve changed if Aitu lost the challenge. (Listen to their Cook Islands P2 for more details)
The Gabon swap is hilarious. Production clearly wanted Marcus’ alliance to have control, if the 10 person merge happened Susie would flip and Sugar would use her idol. Unlike the Aitu 4, the Fang alliance was not liked by production. So they tried to assure Marcus’ victory by doing the swap, only for it to fall apart thanks to Queen Susie.
There is no way HvV wasn’t changed to an F10. Not only did the jury start at F12 but Samoa was filmed back to back and they typically follow the same formula. Production thought the Heroes would have a better chance to take control if more villains went home (especially after Rob was voted out). But again they were wrong, if they had merged at F12 Courtney and Sandra flip on Russell instantly.
I believe Survivor has more integrity than most reality shows but they still try to influence what happens on the island, dating all the way back to the Stacey Stillman boot in Borneo. Parv and Tyson in an interview said that during confessionals, producers would try to nudge “production favourites” into the right direction through certain questions while on other shows they would outright tell you to start a fight with someone. (Micronesia Rewatch with Parvati Shallow for more details)
This is an amazingly well researched comment, thank you for all the resources! Regarding the last point in particular, I agree. More integrity than your average reality TV show is not a very high bar though...I am curious if the reasons we hear of it happening so much in earlier seasons is because they've tightened up, or they've lost controlling contracts of those contestants...
@@HenryHickmanSurvivor Thank you! I can’t speak on earlier contestants but in recent years I think the show has kept them on a tighter leash, any information released by them could spread like wildfire thanks to the internet and social media so they likely tightened up their contracts. The Omar/Drea situation is a perfect example; Omar’s interview with RHAP was edited afterwards and the subreddit moderators banned so many people for mentioning it or any other controversies that r/survivorponderosa had to pick up the slack. AMAs by contestants have decreased massively as well since WAW. Plus players are incentivised to keep quiet so they can be recast in returnee seasons, though the 46 cast’s feud online might change things up since it allowed for more engagement
Literally this wouldn't even be that big of a deal if they would just wait to do it at like, F10 or something.
Just merge at final 11 and we no longer have any issues. It worked for a reason!
Honestly, I wish that more of the double boots came pre-merge. The premier wasn't the best episode of 41, but I did enjoy the double boot, and maybe you shouldn't have it like the first challenge, but with 90 minutes you could do that with maybe episode number three, where the two losing tribes go to tribal.
Yeah I fully agree, the only double tribal I didn't like was Winners at War, but even that was fine by the end of it. I just looked it up and they've done it way more often than I initially thought.
Throw in a "2nd place tribe can give someone on the losing tribe immunity" or something if they really want to twist it up
Henry, did Franny get to wear the immunity necklace on that particular challenge? If so, WHY did Jeff prevent Genevieve and Teenie from finishing the challenge? Kyle gets to be the only one wearing the necklace while finishing... THIRD??? 😅
Not only that, but now Kyle has a big target on his back for "winning two immunities"
Bro didn't win two, he won one against half the cast, and then lost the other. A bit unfair if you ask me...
@HenryHickmanSurvivor I see your point. It doesn't help Kyle at all and it COULD benefit Genevieve and Teenie to... NOT be seen as challenge threats. However, should one of them reach FTC, they could have claimed a win. It should be their call, not Jeff.
7:20
It’s the same island they had back in New Zealand Nicaragua, to pretty similar results of the 2nd returnees
I'm 99% sure it's called Redemption Rock...
I just wish they would do a tribe swap then merge. 2 tribes then go to a merge after the council. Who ever wins the 2 tribe challenge gets the advantage at the Merge tribal.
Survivor can make the Immune team play against each other for the individual advantage. Winner Receiving it after the Merge challenge b4 tribal.
It could be played around w/ as well. Do the Advantage winners get to know what it is b4 receiving it? Do they only get a hint or clue? Do they still have to go dig it up out of the jungle, even thou they already won it? 😂
There are so many avenues for good merge advantages beyond what they've tried, it's kind of ridiculous because I'd assume they have a team of idea people, and yet the comments are filled with so many good ones we haven't seen!
@ Yeah, people who brainstorm in a group plurality generally have better ideas to streamline together. Thou, Bet Survivor has snatched a few ideas from the webs & just aren't saying so
However, in the Budget era they seem to be following a bit more scripted & predesigned ideas. Its as if Survivor is just trying to stretch what they already have on ideas cuz more effort cost more money. Perhaps they're using Ai for ideas cuz of being free & effortless to create in game from old Ssh T 😂
@@why2goatdagame Y'know what...Would AI Make a Good Survivor Producer (working title) doesn't sound like a bad idea...
@ Iff you plugged multiple ideas of the Survivor fan base into an AI generator, then prompted it to set up advantages, new idol finds, different tribe break downs with the basic rules of the game... Yeah probably.
However, you would have to have a human group of collaborators, advisers, & of course proofreaders of approval. Ai can learn, but its not a one man show.
Production combining enough twists to force a post merge tribal back into being an all Tuku premerge tribal should be a massive sign that we are going backwards
I don’t know why Jeff likes random draws, I dislike them a lot because players aren’t in control of their own fates. A schoolyard pick or a betting field with only the losers attending tribal at least gives the players *agency*
I am 100% pro agency in Survivor. Agency is everything, because I want to watch players mess up their OWN games. Tiyana getting booted because she failed to do something? Compelling. Tiyana getting booted because she didn't pick the right rock? Sad...
0:57 that's been happening ever since 41 and there new twist that's been happening that it doesn't even feel like were even watching survivor anymore no cap I think some of these new twist are stupid in my opinion
I'd argue it's been happening for a while. What is an Island of an Idol? No clue.
I do 100% agree most of the new twists are dumb, the fact Survivor is still as entertaining and enjoyable as it is is a testament to how compelling the core of the game is.
How are they gonna make someone lose their vote next episode
My personal bet is the Survivor auction lose vote idea, but I hope not!
@@HenryHickmanSurvivorAccording to the episode synopsis there's going to be an advantage hidden in a food item, so they're at least using some good ideas for the auction.
@@bencalebrod LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Fiji, Thailand, Gabon and Palau are the worst in that regard, right?
Fiji yes, Thailand yes, Gabon yes, Palau probably yes!
one thing that is interesting with the 40 several version is that with that technically every tribe went to tribal twice
Hey that is interesting! I to start making more random fun Survivor stat videos I reckon...
JUST DO A TRIBE SWAP ISTG ITS NOT THAT HARD JUST HAVE MERGE AT FINAL 9 AND TRIBE SWAP AT FINAL 12 PLEASE ITS SO STUPID
Honestly I respect the Final 9 merge idea. That's a wild one. Is that for 6 jury members or some pre-merge jury members? Either way very cool!
Why can’t we have a normal I think the earn the merge and split groups is kinda of stupid just do a tribe swap and merge at 11 or 10
100% agreed, 11 is the perfect size on an 18 person season as well, it makes so much sense.
I think something people don’t realize about the 44 twist is that it looks like it was meant to be the final 10 split twist that was done in the previous seasons but the reason they didn’t do that was because Bruce got medivacted thus putting production ahead of schedule with the vote offs
That is a very fair assessment that I didn't consider. I still think they could've just done it as a big tribal though...
Agreed, but they clearly like splitting the “merged” tribe
