    The cape buffaloes have diff horn configurations: the points can stick straight out, or up, or round partially back, or fully back. Seems the most lethal are the ones that stick straight out or up, so they can spear their enemies. I think the smart lions are aware of which horns pose the bigger threat too and will avoid a front-on charge from those buffaloes.

    Of all prey-killings, I think the lions do it in a less "brutal" way. I don't know how to put it or describe it. But I've watched the hyenas bring down their helpless prey in a most pathetically savage and gory way -- one can see the hunted still alive while the hyenas are gorging over its intestines. That must be an awfully painful and merciless way to be eaten up alive by predators. Of course, I'm not saying that those brought down by the lions will die peacefully without any pain, but at least, they seem (at least one of the pride members will) to pounce right upon the "mark" (neck) of the prey so that it will die sooner for the pride to consume it, instead of being left half alive like the hyenas or wild dogs do.

      @@NatGeoWild I watch a lot of Nature videos but this one is smash hit for me. (1) The analogy to football was awesome for a football fan like me. (2) The narration was so similar to a football post-game analysis (3) The voice of the narrator is awesome (4) I learnt that lions always play the same position in every hunt - that is an awesome new fact which makes sense to me now because it eliminates confusion and misreading the situation. All in all a beautiful video accompanied by brilliant narration. Thank you Nat Geo

    I've heard narrators say many times that lions, etc, only succeed to kill one out of ten...But I never heard any narrator explain why... Could it be that missing nine times out of ten is by intelligent design, to keep their instincts sharp and their bodies fit?... On the other hand, if they succeed nine times out of ten, they become too fat and too slow which will make it impossible to be able to survive in their harsh environment.

    • @ambienceization
      @ambienceization 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ummmm....all prey species have a special skillset to survive be it excellent vision, smell, hearing, or all of the above. It's not as easy as walking into the store and buying a pack of bacon you big fat dum-dum. I can't believe mans aksed this question.

    • @benjaminfalzon4622
      @benjaminfalzon4622 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ambienceization I know all that stupid. Animals have instinctive intelligence. which is totally different from human intelligence, humans have creative intelligence. Humans can succeed in a killing when hunting 9 out of ten, that's why humans are fat and lazy, and shop for their bacon at the supermarket. If wild animals succeed 9 out of ten as humans do, they will become unfit and finally starve to death because they won't be fit enough to catch their prey. Nature is based on intelligent design, not on accidents.😝
