3 Lions Bring Down Buffalo In Epic Battle *Not For Sensitive Viewers*

During a morning drive at MalaMala game reserve we came across 3 lionesses bringing down a large buffalo. We watched the battle between these animals for over an hour with the rest of the buffalo herd often coming back and trying to chase the lions away. Eventually the buffalo was too injured to get away and the one lioness went off into the bush and came back with cubs. The cubs began to feed on the buffalo while it was still alive until eventually it succumbed to its injuries.
It was remarkable to see the fight for survival from the buffalo as well as the strength of the 3 lionesses.

I heard the buffalo say to the lion “What you looking you furry twat?”. The moggy was a bit upset. So it served the big beats right for swearing…is twat a swearword?…at the lion. I’d not be happy if a buffalo offered me out in a fight either.
Toward the end there are little puddy tads meowing and pawwing at the big moggy. Cute.

I’m seeing a pattern here I believe. The other buffaloes come to the aid of the one that is attacked.
Once the injured one is free of the predators that is its chance to run away w/ the other buffaloes. If it’s too injured and can’t keep up with the herd they are on their own and have to accept their fate.

Lionesses are such good hunters, they provide food for the whole pride
Once down it's done. These lionesses are experienced and knew how to hunt as a team.

Only adult males can suffocate adult buffalo. The lionesses generally suffocate Zebras, Wildebeests and others.

The patience and ferocity displayed by the buffalo in the battle for survival is a testament to the primal strength of nature.
When I seen those cubs all I see was more killers 😂 but I enjoy these videos the strength and strategy these lions put together is amazing and be able to understand one another ….telepathy?

Guys at time, this is so amazing, it shows the brutality of nature totally. The buffalo was scared for the whole time till 2:47, when the partner buffalo arrived, the victim buffalo suddenly wasn't scared anymore, and turned around to face the lions calmly. If this buffalo survived, it would have enough experience to teach the next generation, but it was killed and the this successful hunting would help the lions to teach the next generation! Well, the lions need to eat, the lions got a big family to feed. Cycle of life. Life wasn't easy.
at this time the buffalo was scared and very tired and injured: he knew that he couldn't run away like his brother, so he choose to face lions in order to fear them...but the determination of lions was huge

Lions have to eat. Don't you think, there are much more buffaloes than lions? I do not feel sorry for the steak at all, I was thinking about the 5 cubs because hyenas and wild dogs can hear the noise of the kill and the cubs could be in grave danger.

An injury in the jungle is a death sentence. That buffalo couldn't have survived, Real painful way to go though, goes to show that the jungle isn't what Disney portrays it to be. It's a cruel world out there kids

If the male was around to help with the hunt, he would have suffocated the buffalo for a quicker death. That's a really harsh way to die but the lionesses had cubs to feed.
There's not much that other buffalo could have done. His buddy already had a gaping wound on it's back, which it most likely would have died from in the coming days. As well as having it's leg injured.

Im also shocked because they usually don’t eat them alive-unlike hyenas-they usually go for the throat to finally take it out once they’re down.

Its heartbreaking to watch prey getting eaten alive. He didnt even get quick death unlike others. He might have been alive for almost a day. Most of the prey get attacked on the throat part and hence die immediately but here it's not like that.
What does nature earn by putting everything in pain and sufferings. Its not right.

@@patterns7953 I mean, the lions earn a meal from it, and thus the chance to live another day. It’s not like they do it out of malice or anything. They don’t hold a grudge against the buffalo. As far as they’re concerned, taking the buffalo out in a less painful manner would just take more effort, more energy and more risk of injury. It’s all pragmatism.

Wow, three lionesses brought down that big male buffalo. The good part was that even though it lived for quite awhile after it was attacked, there was no way that animal was going to go very far before it gave up the ghost for good so the lions could eat and the cubs were big enough they could eat too.

im sure i trust lions more than you concerning lions fighting skills. and lions say, they rarely attack a healthy buffalo on their own, neither a male nor a female. so no, 1 male lion would have had a far worse chance than 3 lionesses

Seen so many of these video and one thing that always frustrates me is why the hell do the buffalo just stand there after help arrives? They just stand there instead of running or walking away with the helper. Its like they want to die..

It is rare to see three lionesses bringing dow a healthy adult cape. These are true warriors. The fight was so outmatched that they couldn't even get close to neck and choke it and rather exhausted it and started eathing it alive 7:34🤯🤯

Despite the fact the lions are powerful and strong animals, but they always hunt in a group which helps them to always kill the prey, i cannot imagine bad it was really a bad day for the buffolo
That bull is not ready to run away, though he got back up couple of times. And 1st time i saw lioness started eating meat while the prey is still alive. Like hyenas n wild dogs
They are not Eating like hyenas or wild dogs but I guess they are waiting for it to die by the blood loss. So they can dig in

There is no doubt that the buffalo is sick or old. That is why he does not have enough energy to fight or even flee to the herd. But the other buffalo that came to his rescue was completely healthy, so he came twice and had no problem in confronting the lions and expelling them. But all the animals, if they get sick or grow old, become weak, and there is a section of a buffalo dying from wild dogs. There is no comparison between them, but disease and old age in Age makes the animal weak, slow and unfit. At least he goes to the herd and they are the ones who defend him
