Hello everyone and welcome to Age of Wonders 4! The GOAT has arrived to reveal his secret sauce and create one of the greatest builds of all time! This playthrough is both a meme and a challenge to utilize my hundreds of hours to face off against Brutal AI who *all* possess Major Advantage; if you'd like to skip the intro, you can hop right in to the Arena at 8:19. In this claustrophobic Pangea, the GOAT has already gotten tangled up in his first war at 1:40:08 against The Enchantment, so the strength of early game Barbarian is going to be pushed to its limit. I'll be sharing more thoughts than usual about what I think makes my choices worthy of the GOAT so let me know if you agree or disagree -- thanks for watching!

Aww. I was hoping in the future you would do Blint bowl. Smallest map size max players, all of them are different versions of Blint.
The Blint Battle Royale will happen one day, once enough Blints have been conjured from beyond the Astral Sea.

Despite having seen The GOAT's creation I thought I had missed the part where The GOAT was actually a dragon when you brought up the new UI
I have it set to display the most recent UI skin, so it was a surprise to me as well. XD
I will say that if there’s an Eldritch theme coming, there’s always been an idea I’d had for a playthrough.
Some sort of “High Evolutionary” that puts together or molds races however it wishes. Your objective, playing as it, would be to hold dominion over every race in the world and transform them using race alteration spells however you see fit. Whatever is the Evolutionary’s idea of the “pinnacle” of a given race.
However this is accomplished does not matter. All that matters to the Evolutionary is its artistic design, and logic cannot sway it. People are but characters in the stories it writes, and it is always unwise to try to fight the author.
Basically, an Eldritch Lost Wizard that is so incredibly insane that it is obsessed with transforming things into their “ultimate forms”, much like how the Astral Sea did for whoever it used to be. Everything else is but a means to an end.
Hope you like the idea! Whether considered for a playthrough, or maybe a decent end antagonist idea, or perhaps not considered at all, I just want to say thank you for the awesome and highly underrated content!

Bought this game on launch. Big fan of the series. Liked it, but quickly found the game boring.
Tried again this month, no dlcs, and really enjoyed it. AI is horrible though. Will at some point buy the DLCs if the price drops. Allready bought the game full price which I rarelly do these days :)
For Reaver, I would say turn the net soldier into skirmisher with sword and pistol. War spoils should be removed from cannon recruitment (but still used for subjugation) especially since their every other turn or risk being stunned isn't that insane to need an additional resource, especially if you can't get them into good position. I think for magelocks, alter them to behave like crossbows; including necessary stat changes. However, give them a passive that does something like "if this unit didn't move increase damage and/or range" but obviously it can't stack indefinitley or else they'll shoot across the map. Because as it stands, magelocks are hard to utilize mid-late game once everyone has a bunch of mobility/blinks and summons.
Its gonna be real fun see how strong barbs are in early game, actually now that I think about it hey everyone what’s your favorite affinity when it comes to tomes and traits. Personally mines ORDER.
Order Tomes absolutely slap, and I hope to prove their Supremacy in this playthrough! *ba dun tsss*
Unfortunately, Order Imperium traits leave a lot to be desired. I'm a pretty big fan of Shadow traits despite their niche applications, but Materium Imperium traits are the reigning king.

Tomes: Shadow or Astral. Oddly, it's the shadow tomes that aren't necromancy related I like.
Empire Tree: Materium or Astral.
@@conradmills4977 yeah same I hope if they ever do another shadow tome it’s not to do with necromancy, for example they could do a tome of shadow or maybe a mixed tome with a Shadow, Astral. Ooo they could maybe do a tome on cosmic horror for that, I mean the next expansion is called eldritch realms correct. So a good possibility.
@@SoulRuninFree Don't tease me with such a wonderful prospect. You're probably right though, given the lovecraftian design of the Lost Wizards and other horrors from the beyond.
To be one of the Best is to be superior to all other things. Or, rather, to not allow anything else to be greater. These goat like entities are quite fearsome, but they are equally juvenile. Any insult to their power is taken with deadly consideration, and is likely to be met with violent fury. They are so horribly insecure about not being the best possible lifeform that they will do just about anything to prove themselves. One is seen as successful in their culture by showcasing great strength in something, often related to force, leading to a sort of meritocracy where the strong rule and the weak serve to prove themselves.
The one who rules them is called The Goat. They are the physical and mental pinnacle of the entire species, mastering arcane arts known mostly to Wizard Kings and wielding weaponry with a skill no others of his people could stand against. All of the Best seek to become “Goated with The Sauce”, and thus The Goat named their capital after the very pinnacle their people strive for every day.
While they consider themselves superior, this does not mean that they cannot get along with other races. They call strong allies and foes alike Gotts (Greatest of Their Times), and depending on whether or not you threaten their species’ sovereignty or not, a strong individual may be able to create long lasting bonds. A prime example is the Little One Forsythia, who supposedly tore a disruptive one of the Best to shreds in horrific fashion using her magic. Normally, this would result in the Little One being curbstomped, but everybody audibly hated that guy and thus she was accepted as a brutal badass of her people.
They also tamed wild raptors as their mounts. The only stated reason that we could get was “because raptors are [EXPLETIVE] awesome.” It is debatable if they even know why they keep Raptors as mounts anymore, or if they’ve been doing it for so long that they simply accept it as tradition.
Addendum: According to historical records… they are being completely honest. The first of the Best to tame a Raptor simply wanted to prove he could, because it would be “totally goated.” The practice spread amongst their species initially as a contest, and then their usefulness was figured out later. This species truly baffles me.
The title of “Him” is meant for the leader of their people. It denotes that of all the most important individuals in the world, there is nobody more immediately recognizable for his feats and strength than “Him.” He needs no explanation.
Wonder when you will do Age of Wonders 4: Thorin Oakenshield the recapture of the mountain keeps
I can add it to the list! I'm not sure it fits the Eldritch theme of the next two series, but it's certainly something I can add to future polls. (:
That would be amazing, honestly I haven’t seen you play as dwarfkin so once the eldrich playthroughs are all done it would be kinda cool to see how you will interpret it for the future [PS love The Goat and Jiana proudmoore series]

500 Imperium is normal for 4 to 5 cities cap.
Still saved the 200 you would pay to get to 4.
