For those thinking about Turbo in an offroader should remember that Turbo is for speeds! Turbo was created for race cars back in 1962. An offroader does not need to go fast. It's meant for entirely different purpose. The high ground clearance design is not meant for speeds or the car will just topple and roll over at a slight flick of the steering wheel at high speeds. (Google "moose test"- which is another test for cars apart from crash test) Ironically, most of the cars in the current Indian market will fail miserably at "Moose test" due to the ongoing SUV design craze. All race/sports cars have minimal ground clearance to keep the centre of gravity as low as possible so as to maintain stability. Civic had a GC of 135mm for the same reason. SUVs and Off-roaders are designed for anything but speed. The increased height keeps the centre-of-gravity high causing it prone to topple over. Force Gurkha doesn't go fast either. Gurkha's 2.6L engine (sourced from Mercedes) delivers just 90bhp but 250Nm of torque. Please get a sedan if you're looking specifically for doing speeds. Drive safe!✌️

Perfect review. Completely agree with you. We travel often to our other house in a rural area where road connectivity is not great and the Jimny handles those barely-there roads very well. I'm also happy with it as my primary city car. I should add that I'm also getting daily proof of the Jimny's off-roading capacity within the city itself due to massive potholes, waterlogging and generally terrible road conditions this monsoon 😅
It mesmerizes that people thought it would a great on highway. When the vehicle is made for offroad, known as "Mountain Goat", perfect for hilly areas, narrow roads..then why the hell do anyone drive it on Highways ? Jimny is an offraod vehicle. Period
Hi, I would like to upgrade to 215/75/R15 AT from the stock tires. Would this cause any difference in the overall performance of the vehicle. Also I wanted to know that this being a new vehicle, would the wheel alignment post tire replacement be a difficult job ? I just don’t want to have any unnecessary problems on a new vehicle. Jimmny is world class small SUV .it is true off roader. We shouldn't camper it to other family car. But we can enjoy it as a SUV as well as family car.
I always watch V3. This review was not as neutral as usual as it did not mention certain critical elements such as the overdrive button for the highway.
I own ignis and have booked jimny in jan. But after seeing jimny personally I canceled jimny as comfort is not good for daily drive and long drive. But it's a gem for bad roads.

As per reviews, Jimny is much better for highways than Thar as far as ride and handling is concerned. But as power is lesser than Thar, cruising at 100KMPH is the nature of engine, don't expect 120+ speeds easy......low end torque of course is good.

It is more like a cruiser vehicle, say 80-100 kmph. Overtakes would need little planning (like you should know when to press the full throttle). It just happens with practice and is not that tough, even if words feel like that. However, i don't think this is made for 120kmph cruising and overtakes might be tricky as engine would be hard pressed for further acceleration.

Maruti Suzuki I think has missed a great chance as they should have put in a turbocharged 1.4L engine. Or they should start selling bolt -on turbocharger for Jimny in India.

If driving at 100 on highways, I am going to have issues overtaking because power delivery is lacking, it makes this a difficult decision for me. Think Thar, that is a very capable 4WD but also with enough power for highway runs, but I need more practicality as my drives can be fairly long. So Jimny dimensions suit me perfect, for the villages, hilly areas etc. I travel, except the low engine power because a lot of my long journeys also cover plains, not only mountains or treacherous routes. It is not about Jimny really, and I have nothing against that. It is just my requirements and there seem to be many like me who need dependable 4WDs/AWDs not for off-roading but for long journeys That requires proper power on highways while 4WD can be used on muddy, snow, or other terrains. India seriously lacks dependable automatic petrol AWD/4WD compact/midsize SUVs with enough power below 20L range.
I was really thinking to buy one with auto transmission, especially after current december discounts but the main thing that's stopping me is the power of the engine, it's absolutely pathetic and anyone who justifies 77.098Kw of power and 134.2Nm of torque on this vehicle is a moron. They are also offering 4 speed auto in 2023 🤦, did they went back in time or something. Overseas it might have worked well, firstly being a 3 door so better power to weight ratio and most folks that buy it only use it as a recreational vehicle and it sits in the garage most of the time, not as a daily driver. In India most people don't have that kinda income or luxury. Yes one can go for a manul and install a turbo kit but that would obviously bring the price up ( which some can tolerate) but it will void the warranty.
Just too expensive for a city and highway car. It is okay for places where there are no roads. That does not include Kolkata where most of the roads are not roads. All said and done, if it were priced at about 8 lakhs, it would be a sensible option for those who love to waste money. Same applies to That ROXX and Force Gurkha. Totally unimpressed by expensive cars whose life was at an end at 15 years but has been reprieved by someone less than the president.
