35 and 16 mm have that rustic May 21, 1980 feel to it. As someone who born at the end of the summer of 1980 and raised as a first generation fan. I absolutely love the Puggo 16mm aspect.

The lighting and image quality is a lot better on the 35mm one, while the lightsaber color and oranges at the start are better on the 16mm. Also, at the end of the scene on the top platform, on the 35mm one, there’s a reel change. Damn you Fight Club, I can’t not see it!
I only ever watched the original VHS recording once, so I had no idea the first ignition sound when Luke draws his lightsaber was changed for whatever reason in later editions
In terms of the lightsaber colours,Puggo is better,it is darker and isn't white in the middle finished with a blue/red glow.In terms of the backgrounds,Grindhouse wins,its lighter and looks more modern than Puggo Strikes Back.

Plus Grindhouse isn't as zoomed in and that makes Puggo Strikes Back look super weird in the scene where Luke gets his hand chopped off along with its dark colours imo.TBH Puggo looks weird in every way possible except the first part of the battle,when Luke is sliding down that mega-slide-that-leads-to-certain-death-without-plot-armour and its lightsaber colours.

This is nothing like the quality back then. Old age damaged, discoloured prints... Seeing stuff in the cinema was mint. Excellent pictures.
6:16 Proof that the line has always been "No. I AM your father!" and not " Luke, I AM your father! " as many have infamously thought it was.
Theres a pirated video tape from 1980 where he says "No. Luke, I AM your father!" Perhaps some cinemas were sent an alternate version?

35mm quality is obviously better, I would only color correct it like the 16mm

Harmy’s is the most accurate and well put together. The Grindhouse edition shown above is very off in terms of its color.
