I have this engine in my 2008 Accord GT (rare model) and I have had it remapped to 210 bhp and 420nm of torque, its a lot quicker now, it wasn’t slow in the first place. Excellent engine!
@@colingovindasamy8708 Maybe if you don't drive it hard and don't push it to produce more than stock power or boost, but then what's the point of getting a tune? Remember that Honda paid for millions of dollars of engineering and R&D to design the best overall package with long term reliability being one of their main priorities. If they could have increased the boost, increased fuel delivery, etc without having any negative effects on reliability, odds are good that they would have. Anyone can overfuel an engine, increase the boost, modify injection timing, etc and get way more power from it, but what testing did these tuners do to prove its reliability? Certainly not as much as Honda, who had to guarantee that it will at least last through the warranty period and preferably much longer since their reputation of quality, reliability, and longevity is on the line if they get it wrong.
UE socialist + Eco terrorist. This is the best engine ever, but thanks to fiction with reduce C02 emission this engine has been killed (it passed EURO IV C02 emission, but not Euro V/VI)
Amazing engine. With my accord (TSX in USA), i can easly reach 4.5l/100km´s and not 5.8 on the video. My record is 3.6 in each 100 km´s. For me is the best diesel engine, also much better than the new i-dtec, and Honda knows that.
I-dtec is way way waaaayyy better and Honda said that lol. Since 2012 they dedicated to the 1.6 i-dtec which is the same power as this one 2.2, also it consume as a hybrid the i-dtec
@@Shaylesety the BIG downside is that the new i-dtec has a DPF and when that goes , which it will around 100k miles and it will cost a arm and a leg to replace. The 2.2 i-ctdi doesn't have a DPF , much better engine
@@Shaylesety older cars don't have a DPF and cars that managed to meet the euro 5 legislation using great technology and good thinking like Honda . @Shaylesety I would say probably starting with 2010 all diesel engines have a DPF but previously NOT all diesel had a dpf as is the case with Honda civic, acord and CRV that we're made before 2010
The first Honda diesel engines were put into production were put into production back in the late 1960s. They were V-twin engines which produced 12-16hp and were used in generators.
My Civic 2006, 2.2 i-ctdi with 200,000km , average consumption is 6, but in city 6.5-7 l/100km. But its diesel power is amazing. I think i need injector nozzles cleaning.
How exactly does the "optimized swirl control" shown at 4:45 work on a diesel engine? A swirl effect is helpful on gas engines to help mix the air and fuel, but since there is no fuel present during the intake stroke on a diesel, what exactly does swirling the air accomplish?
Uhh, nevermind all the other stuff, how do you get 1600 bar of fuel pressure? It’s equivalent to roughly 23000 psi! Do the injectors work as pressure multipliers, bringing the pressure up to that peak in the instant before injection, to atomize the fuel? Because if not, then that’s a very spooky can on top of the engine. One pinhole, and you have the makings of a movie prop
To Avinash Lewis, yes it will not be better than the Fiat in terms of fuel economy, but your car is slow as F...k. 1.3 l engine, I don't even call this an engine ;) Or you can choose a bicycle it will be even better LoL
