Wonderful guy. Met him at the book signing in Newmarket. The guy you see in this video is the man you meet in real life. If there were more Curtis Josephs in the world, the world would be a better place.
I started playing and play as goalie because of CUJO. Always looked up to him, use to record the games on tape and watch them over and over and take notes. Thank you CUJO
Him and his gorgeous wife ( who is also such a lovely person) used to come into Homesense in Newmarket (where I work) to shop and they are the NICEST couple! Customers who recognized him would get excited and if anyone approached him he was always gracious and friendly, no airs about him whatsoever. Great role model! His story is very inspiring.
I met Curtis and got some things signed a few years ago; what a classy guy, completely humble, took time to talk and take a few pictures. My favourite goalie and a personal hero of mine, definitely going to pick up the book, hopefully will have a tour date somewhere close by.
CUJO! Great goalie, great mask, phenomenal nickname! He was unbelievable in the 1993 & 1997 playoffs with the Blues & Oilers, and he was the difference in those Leafs playoff wins over Ottawa. Should be in the Hall of Fame!
I have to thank my parents for naming me after such an amazing person. I couldn’t Imagine life with out being called Cujo, and just to have a little bit of name association with Cujo makes me proud everyday.
My son and I met you a few years ago in Prince Albert Sask, we were both so impressed with you, just a class guy. Great interview and I look forward to reading your book.
Mr Joesph, (I'm your age the "Mr" is a term of respect that you have earned) first thank you for all of the great hockey memories that you provided. BUT thank you for the human being that you grew to be and all the incredible charitable work that you do in life. You truly are a STAR on and off the ice.
Earliest hockey memories are the leafs vs blues series and that crazy goalie the blues had, maybe I was just young and impressionable but it was the most exciting hockey to watch, always loved Joseph after that even though I was a leaf/potvin guy. Watched him in Edmonton and the amazing playoff preformances always wishing toronto had him- then they got him . I’ll never forget the late 90’s, early 00’s especially Joseph , always respected his demeanour, humble and comes off like such a good dude . Not to mention his charity work .
Wow! I guess this makes a great Christmas reading.... seems to be a great guy who proves that it is not always about what you achieve, but also about what you overcome....
Reminds me of being a Crown Ward. I hear ya CuJo. I remember listening to the hockey game when Gilmour scored when I was a kid. Was going through rough times... you did well that game so many saves. Love ya bro!
I have a picture holding Cujos mask, a piece of time I will cherish forever🙏 only regret, He will never know 😔 Thank you for your genius ability to defend Your goal 👊GO LEAFS GO
I've always been a Habs fan my entire Life. But the playroom in my basement was filled with Curtis Joseph posters. My favorite childhood goalie, bar none. Class act dude, really nice to seem him put it all out there to help young kids in difficult situations.
Saw him at Mucho Burrito in Aurora once he was leaving I was coming he held the door for me, I was in such awe I forgot to even say thank you, just stared at him like a deer in headlights.
Crazy how we used to have Roy, Brodeur, and Cujo to pick from for the Canadian team. Since then we've had goalies of their caliber, but only two, and they weren't at the same time (talking Price and Luongo).
@@siddiq106 Price is arguably the best goalie for Canada's Olympic teams in terms of performance, but I would argue Roy was the best Canadian goalie ever. Hard to compare with Luongo and Cujo though because they played a lot more games where they basically won it for their teams.
@@justinred3382 I disagree. You just forgot about those final years for Cujo and Belfour. Brodeur and Roy didn't seem to get them as bad, but goalies deteriorate, especially since they started favouring that butterfly style. It ruins groins.
@@ninumatshamuntu8359 Detroit was in reflection a huge mistake. Hasek coming back pushed Cujo out of the opportunity that he had signed on for. Tough spot for Detroit but they treated him like crap sadly. Oh well can't relive life or change our mistakes. Have to own them and this guy does.
I never knew salad existed until I went to eat dinner at a friends house I just couldn’t believe the pretty colors the greens and reds the whites I was amazed
Cujo should 100% be in the HHOF one day, 7th all time in wins and is one of only 2 400 win goalies eligible that are not in (Chris Osgood is the other)
I don’t think anybody in St. Louis was ready for Keenan. I don’t know if we’d have won the cup if he had stayed (or been kept as the case may be), but I won’t remember him as a good goalie. I’ll remember him as a DAMN GOOD GOALIE! Edit: been reading the book. Until now I just disliked Keenan. Now I want to beat his ass down! That story about what he did to Dale Hawerchuck (or more precisely his grandma) is disgusting! I did gain a lot of respect for Brett Hull, though.
Wonderful guy. Met him at the book signing in Newmarket. The guy you see in this video is the man you meet in real life. If there were more Curtis Josephs in the world, the world would be a better place.
As a young leafs fan in the early 2000s it was truly inspiring to watch him play with such tenacity and he will always be one of my favorite leafs
I am a Habs fan, and I think Cujo is awesome.
Agreed, I am a Wings fan & how the organization did him when he was here 🤦🏻 ✌️ 🃏
Forever my favourite childhood player
His fight with Detroit back in the days was a big highlight from his days with the Blues.
Hands down the best nickname in the league
Classy Guy and great Goalie. We were lucky to have him in Toronto.
💯
I started playing and play as goalie because of CUJO. Always looked up to him, use to record the games on tape and watch them over and over and take notes. Thank you CUJO
Same bro
Cujo was an amazing goalie and he is an even better person. Thank you Cujo.

Customers who recognized him would get excited and if anyone approached him he was always gracious and friendly, no airs about him whatsoever. Great role model! His story is very inspiring.
Most underrated goalie in the NHL
Yep even my beloved Red Wings didn’t know what they had, 🤦🏻 dummies! 🃏
I met Curtis and got some things signed a few years ago; what a classy guy, completely humble, took time to talk and take a few pictures. My favourite goalie and a personal hero of mine, definitely going to pick up the book, hopefully will have a tour date somewhere close by.
CUJO made such amazing saves that he made Joe Bowen say “holy makinaw!”
It was nice hearing "Holy Mackinaw " more than once a game. Cujo stood on his head. Man those scrambles ha
CUJO! Great goalie, great mask, phenomenal nickname! He was unbelievable in the 1993 & 1997 playoffs with the Blues & Oilers, and he was the difference in those Leafs playoff wins over Ottawa. Should be in the Hall of Fame!
Met him in an airport once, he was so cool and generous with his time, we spoke for longer than I thought he had time... great guy.
Been my hero and idol since I started watching hockey as a kid. Still a dream/bucket list item to meet him.
I have to thank my parents for naming me after such an amazing person. I couldn’t Imagine life with out being called Cujo, and just to have a little bit of name association with Cujo makes me proud everyday.
Ur name is awesome
💯
I was and still am a habs fan. but cujo was my favorite goalie. Who can forget him runnin' the ref.
It's was an accident
that is an actual fact
Now I want to read his book
Edmonton Boy I held a copy at the Toronto Library 👌
My son and I met you a few years ago in Prince Albert Sask, we were both so impressed with you, just a class guy. Great interview and I look forward to reading your book.
Wonderful interview with an amazing human being....thanks for sharing with us Cujo!! :)
The most I have ever heard him talk.

ST Louis still loves him
lol
Im a Edmonton fan so he means alot to me and the rest of the oilers fans

Yes Curtis Joseph broke my heart many times when he was in goal against the Blackhawks . Very , very competitive in net and a man with huge heart .
Wow! I guess this makes a great Christmas reading.... seems to be a great guy who proves that it is not always about what you achieve, but also about what you overcome....
This guy was my idol growing up... I used to mimic everything he did.
Wish he would have won a cup, he played with so much heart!
Thanks for sharing Cujo, can’t wait to read it.
Just finished reading the book! It's definitely the best autobiography I have ever read.
Reminds me of being a Crown Ward. I hear ya CuJo. I remember listening to the hockey game when Gilmour scored when I was a kid. Was going through rough times... you did well that game so many saves. Love ya bro!
Lots of great hockey memories from this guy. Thanks for the memories Cujo.
How awesome is this guy!
💯
Cujo lived a very similar life style to me, this is why i love him so much as a person and a goaltender, he legit lived like i did.
Just finished reading his book. Amazing story and what his childhood was alike..definitely as one of Leafs favourite!
I have a picture holding Cujos mask, a piece of time I will cherish forever🙏 only regret, He will never know 😔 Thank you for your genius ability to defend Your goal 👊GO LEAFS GO
Cujo! Cujo!
Cujo ....i loved this guy !!
I've always been a Habs fan my entire Life. But the playroom in my basement was filled with Curtis Joseph posters. My favorite childhood goalie, bar none. Class act dude, really nice to seem him put it all out there to help young kids in difficult situations.
such a great guy
Not sure what day was harder, when cujo left, or when sundin left. Loved them both.
And Curtis Joseph is one of my favourite goalie
On page 120. There is a typo. Does anyone know what it is lol
Great to see Cujo! Great guy great goalie.
I still remember playing ball tag around that house!!
Saw him at Mucho Burrito in Aurora once he was leaving I was coming he held the door for me, I was in such awe I forgot to even say thank you, just stared at him like a deer in headlights.

Price plays his best hockey with team Canada hes probably the best goalie Canada has ever had.
Don’t forget Belfour as well, it was the golden age of goaltending.
And both of them have fallen off. Goalies used to be great their entire careers. Not just great for a moment in their career.
@@siddiq106 Price is arguably the best goalie for Canada's Olympic teams in terms of performance, but I would argue Roy was the best Canadian goalie ever. Hard to compare with Luongo and Cujo though because they played a lot more games where they basically won it for their teams.

Lol I was like 13 or 14 when he went to Detroit.. I cried lol.
Ramrod right? I felt betrayed but I knew he wanted to win a cup cuz you and I both he deserved to win a cup. Shame he never did

Still my favourite hockey player!
Class act!
Cujo was the best goaltender in the NHL when he played in Edmonton.
Love him!!!!
What a really classy guy
I never knew salad existed until I went to eat dinner at a friends house I just couldn’t believe the pretty colors the greens and reds the whites I was amazed
I need to buy his book
My IDOL! :)
It’s a miracle he was able to become a professional athlete in one of the most difficult sports I believe
I still have the scars of my knuckles from bloody knuckles with Curt and the older guys!
"CUJO" is the Petfect Nickname for Curtis
Class act
Cujo should 100% be in the HHOF one day, 7th all time in wins and is one of only 2 400 win goalies eligible that are not in (Chris Osgood is the other)
Great guy
I hated losing Cujo from St. Louis, he was such a fan favorite. Keenan is/was the worst cancer St. Louis and other teams ever experienced.
Curtis Joseph was the guy the Flyers should have signed in '98 instead of John Vanbiesbrouck.
My fav 2nd fav goalie after Grant Fuhr.
I’m gonna almost guarantee his wife is a therapist or in the social services business
respect
CUJO!!!
Grew up down the road from me...
I don’t think anybody in St. Louis was ready for Keenan. I don’t know if we’d have won the cup if he had stayed (or been kept as the case may be), but I won’t remember him as a good goalie. I’ll remember him as a DAMN GOOD GOALIE!

Wow, you never know people's trials.
I think his wife is a Playboy Playmate.
No way........
I not a leafs fan but I was when a little kid now I am a Canadiens fan
Interesting the league never reveals Curtis mom is black, when they use this story
lol are they post POINT out that his mom is black...?
Mr Man; Oh maybe you can move back to 1952? Oh what, you never left.
That was not clever nor humorous.
His adoptive mother or biological mother?
Adoptive, if his biological mother was black, Cujo would have kinky hair & a brown tan.
