MAZDA CX-50 VS CX-5

Let's talk about what the CX-5 has over the CX-50.
CX-5 has 170lbs of sound deadening materials added to the 2nd gen, including headliner, wheel wells, engine compartment, double seals in all the doors. Also has accoustic glass in the front 3 windows which greatly reduces road noise. The CX-5 also has independent rear suspension, and most importantly, it's made in Japan.

CX-50 has towing capabilities with the turbo model, and they tout that you can set up a tent on top of it that 3 people can sleep in! I am having a hard time deciding between this and the CX-5. But it may come down to overall cost for me and opt not to do a turbo.

You also get torsion beam on the cx50 vs the more expensive multilink on the cx5 which has been used by Mazda since way back that even a '89 mazda 323 has it.

Man you just read the basic specs off Mazda’s website. A review should be more comprehensive. You didn’t talk how the different platform build differentiates the driving experience with Cx-5 having a heavy steering. You didn’t talk about volume vs cargo comparison.

The Cx50 is both longer and slightly wider then the cx5. But the cx5 is slightly taller in height. Surprisingly enough the cx 5 has less headroom for rear passenger due to the slope of the roof. Cx50 has more head clearance all the way around.

Have a 2021 CX-5. Love that car. It even takes light off road duties OK although for anything too rugged I have a truck. CX-50 is more like a Subaru than a BMW/Merc, while the CX-5 is trying to play at luxury more.

The CX-50 is not built off of the Cx5 it’s built on the same platform as the Cx-30. It’s okay to compare but two vehicles are not related body style wise. Power train wise very similar.

Yes, 20’s are very expensive even if the width is the same, they are heavier (hurts acceleration and braking), and they give a harsher ride.

You have a lot to learn dude, the build quality, nvh, and road noise on new Mazdas is at a minimum. No rattles in the interior ever, materials are better than they every have been. While I admit Kia/ Hyundai is doing awesome, they haven’t passed Mazda in any catagory.
