- The Xbox 360 will be gone as we know it soon... at the end of July 2024, the xbox 360 marketplace will be shutting down forever - you won't be able to buy anything. So in this video, I took some time to explore the marketplace a bit, buy some items and games, and see what's going on with it. Comment down below when you're watching this video!

Anyone here still playing 360? Also let me know the date you're watching this - it'll be interesting to come back to this video in 5+ years.
no
my 360 died a few years ago
Yeah
Me mr. 😊
I still have my 360 and a bunch of games, haven't played it in years tho.
RIP Xbox 360 Marketplace (2005-2024)
You will be missed after nearly 19 years. This shutdown truly marks the end of an era for when the Xbox brand was in its golden years before they went downhill with the Xbox One in 2013.
Why not just buy the games on the Xbox one and series X store.
@@OWmyDragonballz Some of them are not backwards compatible.
@@OWmyDragonballzfor the backwards compatible ones yes this can be done, but not all of the 360 games are supported on One/Series consoles so many aren't there still. I have also ran into at least a few games so far that actually were cheaper on the 360 marketplace than the current Xbox store, while still being the same game playable on all 3-4 generations.
@@GreenLeefMusicOnes that aren’t supported on the series X store can be supported through physical copy though with the series X.
@@Lostcontroller most* 90 percent of my collection is not BC with my Series X only halo and cod lol and like 5 other games
Transitioning from the PS2 to the Xbox 360 was such a surreal experience. Final Fantasy XIII, Bioshock, Red Dead Redemption, Prince of Persia, Halo 3, Far Cry 3, Fallout 3, the Arkham games... It was one banger after another. The brand is gone now, but for a while, gaming on the Xbox was the greatest thing ever. I'm grateful to have been a part of that.
For real man, all the more appreciated with it being such a simple time due to my age at the time. Nostalgia!
Same went from ps2 to halo 3 and saints row, shadow run, etc it was mind blowing
How is brand gone
@@TakToJestYTif you don’t know you don’t know
@@JonathanLukeAverydoes he mean microsoft studios for games or just Microsoft in general ?
It’s almost criminal that they’re not just giving away themes and avatar clothes. I mean they created all this. It’s going to be going to vaporware soon. Would they rather it go up in the ether rather than someone enjoy it?
They don't care. Its been 20 years almost, its been 2 console generations since the 360 that came out in 2005. They expect/know that the majority have moved onto the Xbone or the Series S/X
@@lutherheggs451 well we are both here so it’s possible to move on and look backward.
Hopefully at some point, they give deep cut sales on good items instead of this trash sale they have right now.
Dogfight 1942 is a great game, very similar to secret weapons over Normandy
@@WilliamSmith-ex9et
It should be stated in the xbox arcade store contract, that if a publisher wants their game on the store, they must approve that Microsoft has the right to price drop all games and DLC, 5 month before the store closes.
@@konggig not talking about that necessarily-for example: like with avatar outfits-those are ms own creation - no reason they can’t give away a halo outfit; they own the ip and made the outfit.
The 'good reason' they didn't just put everything at $5 is because pricing is up to publishers. Hopefully more of them will allow heavy discounting thru the store.
Remember how the 3DS went? The only ones that did anything were Capcom and a few small publishers. I expect it to go the same way for this one.
Ah makes sense (unfortunate though lol)
It should be stated in the xbox arcade store contract, that if a publisher wants their game on the store, they must approve that Microsoft has the right to price drop all games and DLC, atleast 5 month before the store closes.
It's not just the publisher, but alot of the 360 games are backwards compatible on One/Series like Mirrors Edge.
It should be noted that only the 360 Marketplace is shutting down. Games like Mirrors Edge, Dead Space trilogy, etc. will still be purchaseable on One/Series.
Long story short, prioritize games that are only available on 360.
@@leburn98 And according to Microsoft, you can still download those games to a 360 after the shutdown. You just have to purchase them from a newer Xbox or their website.
I still remember the times you had to buy games in the store with microsoft points.

I have very deep memories with my 360, late night gaming with the boys on mw2, 25 year olds giving you life advice, fake being sick to grind for a nuke on rust, man when times were simpler
I remember playing the demo for Just Cause 2 all the time when I was younger, as well as grinding Castle Crashers with my brother. I’m actually playing Castle Crashers Remastered right now. It’s crazy that the very thing I used to always use is actually closing now.
I played the just cause 2 demo so much. I didn't show it in the video, but it's actually still downloaded on my 360 lol
I want a 360 soo bad @@jrob0021
Man I remember playing the Just Cause 2 demo a ton before I ended up going to a used video game store and looking for a copy of it. I remember there was a glitch you could do to have unlimited time with that demo, you just had to change the opacity of the hud so the timer wasn't covering your screen the whole time
14 bucks in a ending market is wild
Agreed! They cant make prices cheaper for one last splurge? So lame
The prices is up to the developers/publishers not the Xbox
@@CalTate yes they're discounting stock of games if you watch regularly the XboxOne storefront (AssassinCreeds now are $3 !)
14 bucks? try 59.99 for some of the call of duty games. I'm pretty sure black ops 3 costs that much
@@majestichellium9166yea microsoft store is a joke, which we had pc prices and deals 🤦
My 360 is in the living room on an 85-inch tv and it looks gorgeous. Makes me regret buying any console after it since it's still fun.
Xbone and series X/S ain't got nothin on the 360.
same, I'm still playing Ridge Racer 6
Xbox one more like Xbox none
I’ve had my rgh and been downloading games for free since 2013. I’ve been prepared for this moment for over a decade.
I hate to say it, but at this point, Piracy is Preservation. Good on you for actively participating in the efforts to preserve game history. The 360 holds a special place in my heart and it will be sad to see it go... Buuuttt at the same time the super slow 50mbps wifi speeds and high pricing for digital games were kinda annoying, so for those reasons I'm pretty happy with my RGH3 Slim.
I don't have a such model but one thing is sure, physical collection will be precious
@@techbox9473 yeah I download my games from the internet and transfer them through FTP on Ethernet for years. Just upgraded to a portable 2tb hdd on top of a 500gb oem slim hdd . I’d say the longest a game took to transfer was 25 mins so not that bad. Downloading the games it’s self from websites doesn’t take me longer than 10 mins.
Just sent my 360 E in to get an rgh treatment. Super excited to have some fun and play whatever i want
Xbox 360 dashboard and menus were so much better before the Xbox one came out and they changed everything to the tiles to match.
The Blades UI was the best gaming UI, with the PS3's UI being second-best (with the original boot intro).
It sucks its shutting down R.I.P Marketplace on Xbox 360
Had mine since 2007, thanks bro
I'm still playing on my xbox 360 and kept the Series X in its box and not opened yet.
This explains a lot about how magnificant the 360 era was. Army of two 1 and FIFA 07 were the last games I played.

They shouldn't be closing anything down. How do these companies expect people to buy their digital only games if they shut off the only place to get those games? That's just my opinion on it. I'm not actually an Xbox person either but it still sucks that this has to keep happening
Yea but keeping these stores up cost money, it sucks but makes sense unfortunately i wish they stayed up forever.
@@UltimateInkling and surely it doesn't cost that much to keep these things going
@@fireboltthunder2360well yeah, sony that has less revenue and value than microsoft is still keeping up the ps3 store even though they said it's gonna shutdown 3 years ago it's still active and up
All the digital stuffs you legitimate purchased will be available forever
Gotta read that EULA before signing it, a lot of digital stores say explicitly that they can take away your access to any game whenever they want, with barely any mention of refunds or compensation.
I am one of the biggest fans of the 360 and it's wonderful to see people like you keeping a focus on it! One question I have for the older ones is the disk drives - have you experienced brand new perfect discs being scratched by the games just normally running without the system being moved at all? I have, the older white systems laying flat during operation it does at times.....are there certain drives that do this? Is it an indication of the laser working harder and on it's way out?
this really seems like it doesnt change at all anymore, I was looking through the popular category last year on my 360 outta curiosity and seeing this now, it looks like the exact same games in the same order they were in a year ago.
They do not longer provide attention neither to at least refresh the 360 algorithms
Transitioning from a wii to an xbox 360 back in 2012 or 2013 was absolutely breathtaking. I've had so many great memories with my 360, halo 3, the destiny beta, halo reach, etc. So many memories, especially with halo, halo 3 and reach were my most played 360 games back then.
Honeslty im surpised it lasted this long, in 19 years tech changes rapidly and props to them for keepting it up this long
You would think that they would lower the prices because of it somewhat closing
Xbox360 era was just great childhood memories overall.🥺
That Wi-Fi adapter on the back is worth a lot of money.
Not really. My local retro game store sells them for $15
Still playing the 360, got 2 of them, original from around 2007 (with the silver disc tray) and I have just recently bought a 360 E Slim from 2015 to last me another 20 years hopefully. Shame the store is closing, and the price of used games is going up, fast.
Started using my 360 again recently and taking it to my friends today for some good old split screen gaming
I've never owned one myself, as my last console was a Wii, and it still runs great, but i didn't really have any need to get anymore consoles after switching over to pc, but it's nice to see that people hold this generation in such high regard!
I started collecting 360 games 6 months ago.
I was a PC MMO gamer for most of my 20s.
I've been kicking myself for never getting into the 360 earlier.
Man that 360 you have brings back so many memories. I had the same fat white one with the dual band WiFi adapter. Except I had mine since 2007, right before they put hdmi in all models.
Golden age of gaming. This was before pay to play and DLC etc. ruined everything. This was back when game developers were still motivated by making a great game and not by money. Back when producers didn’t (always) force games to be created too quickly. Gaming today is nothing but a business. And it’s a dying business.
Mass effect and halo 3 limited edition had themes and profile pictures that are cool
Great video Jacob!
I happen to watch this the day after I open up my 360 for some maintenance. Good timing
I remember getting a set of chaos emeralds as a reward from one of the sonic games, good times.
This is from the Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 avatar marketplace store.
It's nice to see people remembering the Xbox Avatar items.
I wish they'd made all Xbox 360 and OG Xbox games backwards compatible before choosing to shut down the Xbox 360 marketplace.
If you have The game Test Drive Unlimited 2 on Xbox 360 the DLC is still available until the store closing
I used to have the Xbox 360 Arcade Console, and I didn't have the Wifi adapter. I had an Ethernet Cord plugged in (It fried on me 2 years later)
Around November 2010, my dad bought me the Xbox 360 Slim as an early Christmas present, and it still works for me today 😊.
I've been buying themes and DLC for my games (for example: I recently bought all the DLC and theme for BulletWitch)
I'm going to miss the Xbox 360 Marketplace when it's gone 😢.
What I'd LOVE to see is the expansion content for Forza Horizon 1-3 come back to purchase.
never going to happen all those cars and tracks are licensed and licenses expire
If your 360 is modded, you can get basically all the DLC for any game that exists - provided you know where to look.
I never experienced this much on the 360 when i was younger because i had terrible if not, no internet back then
The one thing that makes me mad about this, is if they remove a game, they don't remove its store page. I tried to buy n+ on the 360 marketplace and the page was there, but apparently its no longer for sale
Microsoft shouldn't be doing this. This console is so many people's gateway to console gaming and so many peoples final console. This gem should be preserved for as long as possible.
Does this mean even if I get an xbox one to play rocksmith, I wont be able to get the DLC songs?
I have the 'Bunny Ears' but found it easier to set-up via Ethernet Cable to Router or Bridged to my PC.
I also have several USB sticks full of stuff, because 60 & 120 Gb drives fill up so quickly 😁
You can backup the games on your hard drive to a flash drive after the store closes right? Don't wanna spend the money on a big flash drive right now when I'm trying to save for games
I made only 1 backup of my games (150) splitted in two 360s because the game wont be lost anyway.. you'll be able to re-download after july your legit games :)
I just go with a couple of xbox 360, 120gb hardrives^^ cost me 5 bucks each 😀
And later on i just make an copy.
@@micheleraurorhi2021 well I’ve heard people say if your 360 HDD fails you can lose everything on it potentially

Great reminder! Thanks Jacob!!
Can we play games off of the 2TB flashdrive with the games stored in there?
Yes.
You can even mod the stock hdd and replace it with an SSD if you want. It doesnt really improve load times or anything, but it does make the UI much snappier and basically get almost every game in the 360 library with such a big drive.
Watching this video just reminded me that I still have a 360 somewhere😂 might have to scoop a few of those soon to be lost forever titles and put it back in storage
I just picked up a Xbox elite console with 2 limited edition controllers I know the one is dragon age. & a box of 60+ games all complete with manuals etc for $30 all I had to do was change the thermal paste.
60 games and limited edition for just 30 bucks wow
Pissed off that I can't buy anything on my end and the store isn't closed yet technically it won't let me.
Can you contact Microsoft to fix the issue
Had my xbox 360 arcade since late 2005 i was 2 years old when my aunt gave me it and halo 2, i played it every day 18 plus hours a day, i recently bought a 1 tb harddrive 4 years ago, and downloaded nearly 300 games and dlcs
300 games DANG
I’m absolutely pissed that Bad Company 1 & 2 have been delisted. They’re were on GamePass and I had no idea they were gunna be removed.
I can never buy them digitally again now. Absolutely fuming.
I got an Xbox 360 last year for this very reason. I got it so that I could get the Sonic 06 DLC before it was too late, and I'm glad I did, because even with the game's lack of quality, there was still some unique fun to be had with the DLC. I also grabbed the Fancy Pants Adventures from the XBLA, which was nice because it stands out from the Fancy Pants Flash games. Other than that, I got a few backwards-compatible games.
Which ones are worth buying sir?
USB is nice, but unless something changed, being limited to 32GB is not a nice way to waste a large ssd in a USB case. Now if they would allow transferring game installs to any 360 console. They better keep compatibility upgrades available.
The one thing i miss about the 360 era is the Xbox Indies, I've bought so many of those joints for like a dollar or two. 👍🏿👍🏿

I payed 1500 Microsoft points for marvel vs Capcom 2 10 + years ago ...and it's not backwards compatible.😢
Make sure you download it.
Cause you're not gonna find a physical copy for under $30.
This is like going through a photo album.
Thanks for the video. I just wanted to mention that a bit of the Xbox Live Indie Games have not been preserved yet, and it seems they can't be re-downloaded. If anyone has any please put them on a flash drive and get in touch with the Video Game Preservation Collective
This is why you need a RGH or JTAG console in 2024.. copy disc data and you can play from the hard drive.

Mass Effect 3 multiplayer on 360 has a lot of people still playing. There is a mandatory update and content downloads that must happen before you can find a lobby with anyone... will be a sad day without the slow trickle of new players or returning players who are trying to reinstall later on. I wonder how this will work for back compat 360 games for DLC and title updates, as you still have to buy/DL through the BC dash.
Installing all your physical games to run faster off a flashdrive is definitely underrated!
I still play my 360 from time to time. I’m curious to see if your still able to download digital Xbox 360 titles to an Xbox 360 console. that were bought on something like a series s.
You actually can
yep you can until July2024 but if you live in EU(like me) only thru the dashboard console-store I think
Yep you can, bought quite a few 360 and og Xbox titles on my Xbox one, and can download them on to my 360
@@Salamander306 I know about that too. I do that as well. I’m just curious if we’ll be able to continue to do that after the 360 store closes.
So, the console with everything from the shop will cost fortune in near future? What to buy if we still can tho?
no dont worry, in the end "only" 200 approx of the "arcade" games will disappear after July2024 an only a part of them are really worth for one's taste
My favorites are Bloody Good Time, Charlie Murder, Battleblock Theater, Fez, Super Meat Boy, Spelunky, Nights Into Dreams (which has a couple older physical releases, none of which are the HD remaster, and only 1 is English), and Dungeon Defenders. Girl Fight and Monkey Island were okay. Nothing spectacular but fun enough. Otherwise I always wanted to try The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile, The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai, Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise, Small Arms, Blade Kitten, and Bastion (though I'd prefer a physical release, and PS4 has that). Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons also got a physical release on Xbox One, and used to be a digital only game. So that's awesome it got a physical release to save it from digital obscurity, cuz that's a great game as well.
Part of me wants to grab them, but the other part of me reminds me I've had to re-purchase a few items that got "lost" from my purchase history. And I've had issues with re-downloading items that Xbox removed from the store before. Like Mafia II was a free game with Gold, got it. Then they removed it and when I went to redownload it, it couldn't because the store page didn't exist. Even from my purchase history page, it couldn't find a way to download the game. Later they re-added it and I was able to download it, but this makes me skeptical of how well the re-downloading feature will work if they remove the store, even if Microsoft says it will work. I've experienced different stories.
Honestly the only other two games I personally would recommend getting are The Legend of Spyro Dawn of the Dragon & A New Beginning since those are the cheapest options to play those two games
Are they also shutting down the backwards compatible games or just on the 360 store?
The backwards compatible games should still be good to go on the xbox one and series x/s
@@jrob0021 But, do we know for sure if physical original Xbox games who are backward compatible on the 360 ( but not on the One ) will still be able to run on 360 after the servers shuts down ? Yes but you need to log in your profile and do a License Transfer on the new console for them to appear and be playable

Lol the Wi-Fi adapter in the back! God I’m old
I just dusted off my 360 after about 4 years of not playing it and it feels like it's on life support. It's crazy how this console that was once the king of consoles now feels like an outdated dinosaur.
It'll shut down on July 29, right?
I love the Xbox era i love hearing the sweet sound from the intro 😌👌🏻
