    In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Can I DEFEAT COLONIZERS With The WEAKEST NATION? I do a playthrough as Arawak in Europa Universalis 4 1.31 Leviathan. This is the fifteenth video in my series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Arawak and I attempt to go form a one province nation to a powerful horde and defeat any colonizing nations such as England, Castile, Portugal and France. So let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future. The save file is available for all Tier 1 and above TH-cam members in the save-games Discord channel.

    Becoming a horde was the right first step, but you should have swapped to another government type immediately after.
    Switching from a native to a horde gives you horde units (who suck), but swapping to another government from a horde gives you Chinese units (who are still worse than Western, but better than hordes). Also shock really matters in combat until like mil tech 16, and South America lacks an abundance of flatlands, so you were dealing -25% shock on basically every battle.
    Being in the Chinese tech group by reforming out of a horde also lets you become New World Formables, like Brazil or the US.

    • @Grungeuncle
      @Grungeuncle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +75

      Its all about the nomads. Nomads can change tech, by reforming into monarchy or republic, i guess theocracy counts too. Reform as a muslim nomad, get muslim tech. reform as a christian nomad get eastern tech. reform as an eastern religion or pagan get chinese tech. i have never tried the hinduism so i dont know if it gives indian tech or not. Also if you convert to catholic as a nomad you get western tech when you reform rather than the eastern.

    Okay so just a few things, in case you do play as a native nation (and I recommend it, some of them are insanely fun and powerful)
    Migrate as often as you can, your monarch points in the start are basically only useful for expanding your tribal land. As you do that your 'capital' will grow in dev and eventually you will have like 60 dev, loads of money and the goal is just to expand and reform. When you finally 'reform' all your 'tribal land' is treated as a province that is instantly colonised. It's pretty fun!

  • @CrimsonReaper189
    @CrimsonReaper189 2 ปีที่แล้ว +36

    the reason u can see china and the rest is because for some reason vision is attached to tech group and when u become a step horde u get nomadic tech group which gives u vision of all that area. it also works when going out of that tech group so say u got orthodox as a stephorde when u swap to being a a diffrent goverment type u get easten tech group and u get the vision that they would start the game with ie europ.
    its actually a intresting thing to do where u start as a nation able to form tibet as a horde become orthodox reform out of horde to get easten ideas then form tibet do the mission to become a horde again then form manchu for the ideas and unique units

    I think that if you took away their coastal provinces quick enough they would not have been able to dock their ships nearby. Hello, I am from South America. The first campaign I did was with the Incas (Cuzco), a Kingdom but with EVERYTHING in zero... I guess they are just not a Tribal Kingdom, just almost a Kingdom; the next was with a tribe from South America (it did not end well), the next campaign was with a european kingdom of a single province created by me in South America in the 1700. Currently, after a few years away from Europa Universalis I have returned once more to Cuzco (this time I wish to be able to fully colonize South America with Tawantinsuyu before the end of the game). And then I really want to play with the Iroquois in North America. I have never played with any nation in Europe or Asia... and I would probably play with a nation in Africa before, or with a Japanese nation.

    Arawak, Carib, Tupinamba, ... those nations are of the hardest, since you are on the forefront of colonial nations spawning at your borders and you start off as primitive tribe and need to reform into a "real nation" first. guess you need to play really carefully and have a little luck. institutions you will get from the colonies, but to prevent the colonists from attacking you need a lot of allies / vassals, so I'd try to get the incas asap and maybe some of the mesos even if possible. in my chachapoya run I was able to have 5 small vassals by the time castille arrived and we didnt get attacked. once a colonial nation forms (5 provinces fully colonized) you can attack them. be sure to have a claim on the province before you attack and usually they only have 1-3k army which you can defeat easily. try to ally one big nation. aragon if they exist or marocco. maybe even one of the big western african nations if they manage to stay strong

    steppe horde was fine, but it gives you nomad tech, still better than the american techs. after that you could convert to christian and reform to monarchy republic or theocracy that would give you eastern tech wich is not superior to the western tech but still better. keep in mind with nomads you can change tech, this applies to original nomads of eurasia. reform to monarchy as muslim nomads -> get muslim tech | do it as a christian -> get eastern tech | do it with the eastern and pagan religions (such as tengrism) -> get chinese tech. i have never tried the hindu before i dont know if hinduism gives you the indian tech or not. so actually you did pretty good without knowing the tech meta for natives.

    Selling land is a viable strategy as native. Conquer the colonial nation. Make sure to do it one war and before the overlord can finish any more colonies in the region. This way the colonial overlord can't do reconquest on you.
    The will pay good money for it. You can then reconquer the new colonial nation since there will be no truce. Sell land again if you want.

    I thought Arawak were in the Caribbean along with Carib, I know they started out in South America but I assumed they moved into the Caribbean way before 1444

    Playing as South Americans is extremely hard. Could not finish any of my Incan attempts in Very Hard. Despite tactical superiority in some heckin powerful terrain and being rich as fuck you have to sustain wars literally nonstop, against the French, against the British, against the Spanish, against the Portuguese... it's a war of attrition the Europeans win (since they usually have 3x more troops in that mode).

      Actually true. My last game as Arawak I actually thrived and reached the 1550s no problem blocking the colonizers (tho I had to spend a fortune to dev institution by myself).
      My last Game as Grenada I was annexed in 1449 I think.
