In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Can I FORM THE STRONGEST PIRATE NATION As Adal? I do a playthrough as Adal in Europa Universalis 4 1.32 Origins. This is the seventeenth video in my series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Adal and attempt to form one of the strongest pirate nations in EU4 - Somalia. So let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. If you enjoyed this video consider leaving a like and subscribing for more content in the future. The save file is available for all Tier 1 and above TH-cam members in the save-games Discord channel.

Greek ashikaga horde
So... Sorry to break the mood, but you got a nazi in the previous video.
And no, it is not an edgy joke, he explicitly called the axis heroic and the allies villainous after going on a rant about how the brittish were imperialists that attacked germany without provocation and on how the largest structure in that region of africa was a termite hill.
Conquer sardinia because why not
Conquer portugal
Turn Ashikaga into otaku by acquiring Manga.
You should have conquered Portugal, because irl they helped a lot Ethiopia,to annex Adal
Maybe in EU5 lmao
@@TheRedHawk that sounds painful to do a-z again
@@manelgrinder3027 this is his life now, his children will take up the mantle too
@@Podzhagitel sins of the father.
@@manelgrinder3027 If he does it in the beginning of the game, most factions will be boring so he could skip most of them XD
if you plan to play any future pirate/raiding nation, its good to know that the limit for coastal raiding is 3 sea tiles from your nearest coastal province.
Ethiopia is much easier to beat in the beginning before they consolidate their vassals and get access to the gold mines
Not wrong tbh
i noticed this while playing adal and yemen, ethiopia snowballs hard especially with ai mod but much weaker early
Nah they usually get vassals and allies before you can generate any CB
“This is A-Z name a challenge we haven’t faced”. ….. me thinking B-Z
Not wrong lmaoo
man, since i discovered your channel a few days ago i spend about 3 hours a day watching your videos. Keep up this incredible work!
Thank you for the support!
Well at least with fighting all those rebels you don't have to worry about bad generals, right?
True lol
I never worry about generals lmao all my generals are really good in all my games
I mean I usually only have one general bcs I forget to hire them but still counts
I'm allied with Ethiopia as the Ottomans in my game so we can beat up on the Mamluks who got too powerful this game. Adal keeps causing Ethiopia problems and getting beaten up a lot during our wars.
I’ve never had a game where the mumluks have a bad game
@@rhystaylor9290 They had most of Arabia while I was busy in the Balkans and Anatolia and this is my first game.
Wait, you need allies as the Ottomans? It's like the Germany of EU4, they're there to give everyone else an antagonist.
@@rhystaylor9290 for me it depends on whether or not the turks start blobbing
@@rhystaylor9290 It is kind of crazy how they are such a strong and hard to conquer nation in EU 4 when in real life they were defeated rather quickly (1517) by the Ottomans.
For Ashikaga, maybe you can take the mandate or unify Japan or something along those lines.
Unifiying japan, taking the mandate and making the asian coprosperity sphere :)
I think doing that is actually in Japan's mission tree
This is my favorite eu4 series out there. I really hope you stick with it all the way to Z. Keep up the great work with these videos as well as your guides!
Glad you enjoy it!
2:06 I personally prefer develeoping a province by one, selling the titles, waiting until the event about selling off land fires and using the "seize land" action before accepting the event. Gets you to 34% dev at the start which is quite useful if I do say so myself.
I was shocked by how awesome religious diplomats turned out to be for my Mughal run. Adds a little bit of extra security to keep coreligionists from joining coalitions, makes them just a bit easier to vassalize, etc. Good shit.
“High inflation is good”
The US government be like
I like the "Love will keep us together" province names haha
Piracy is a modern phenomenon in Somalia so it’s kind of weird that they put it in their ideas. They weren’t like the Barbary pirates
Somalia was only formed in the 60s so technically they could add modern things in there
@@darklight8338 I suppose. What I meant is that Somalis (culture rather than country) were not particularly apt to be pirates
@@Andrew-jb2iy
I agree as I'm somali myself but I guess they did it for variety and the memes.
You can unite germany and make the hre a country so yeah
As Ashikaga, conquer smolensk just because you're the Shogun.
look at him he's captain now
I am the captain now
Adal is probably one of my favourite nations to play, even before the latest patch. They're at a really nice position in the map, have a nice colour, and less of a headache to play as compared to Ethiopia, at least in my experience.
Easy: Attempt to form Japan as Ashikaga. Bonus: Defeat the Mongols in a war.
When your challenge series drags on for so long that new nations get patched in before you hit your first mile stone.
Your videos are great and I’m really happy you’ve added more of your personality and comments into them compared to the videos where you didn’t talk or talked very little
Like how they made the Somali experience extra accurate
Ya know, insane amounts of rebellions
the year is 2072; the US has fractured into multiple feuding nations, the second lunar colony has become self sustaining, polar bears have gone extinct, and EU4 A to Z has finally reached T.
17:36 bean
Now I'm wondering how many times will you have to backtrack and add nations because Paradox keep continue developping them XD
It already seemed an endless challenge, but now it truly seems hopeless to finish it :p
as Ashikaga you could get the Mandate of Heaven as a goal
Not a bad idea!
Of all the nations, I wouldn’t think it would be Adal committing the first war crimes. Against Ethiopia no less
Edit: and Cairo
There is something in this update where the rebel engine is too op...😅
lol you named the provinces “love will keep us together”
Hey someone noticed!
I love how the province of us is next to the province of together, just perfection
it's my duty to give the obligatory NICE for that thumbnail
Thanks lol
You've raided the coast of our hearts.
The court really doesn’t like Sultan Bruh.
One of the few episodes in A series that I was satisfied at the end.
I tried a Pate into Somalia run for a 'The Third Way' attempt. Was pretty fun
Were you successful?
I conquered all of swahili coast, gulf of aden, and coromandel by 1620 and am making boatloads of ducats. I spawned Global Trade institution before I had even embraced Printing Press! Put the campaign on the back burner a bit but it's definitely viable for the win I'd say
Here is something fun you can do as Ashikaga:
Ashikaaba: As Ahikaga, conquer Medina and the Kaaba Great Project.
Its a custom achievement!
It’s nice to this video on my mom side part of the warsangali clan
He took "Strengthen Noble Privileges". I live to see it
That was the perfect way to say noble privileges.
Mandate of Heaven as Ashikaga
I know you don't play releasable nations, but i think you should make an exception for Asturias. It has an achievement(which some of your viewers may want to get), and very unique ideas with -15% war score cost.
At 10:42 when he says he doesn’t want to look at that nation anymore, where is that sound effect from?
The thumbnail says
"I am the Venezuela now"
You gonna do a playthrough as aotearoa/new Zealand?
p sure if u dev once, u can sell titles and then sieze
and then you can dev a second time to get up to 5% crownland (not as bad debuffs as 4.9% crownland)
I still prefer Ajuuraan's national Ideas out of the group of Somali nations plus its position closer to moving down the Swahili coast, getting to the Southern gold mines & also settling around SA Capeland area towards the Americas & I'm really going to enjoy changing that white map colour to Somali Blue again! (Did it already in my final WC pre-Origins campaign that I was playing, but it didn't change my colonial subjects in the Americas & Australia from white to blue at the same time, so it'll be nice to be blue before setting up colonials.)
I'll say what I said last video.
Ashikaga -> Japan = boring
Ashikaga -> Qing = based
Great series!
Soo, once again 😁
Shogun of Italy: make a daymios from all the Italian nations
Or
Shogun of the Americas: The same, but with Incas and all the Mayas and Aztecs
At 07:17 he starts talking about the best provinces to spawn the renaissance in. What makes those provinces better? I thought it was strictly related to development.
A good rule of thumb is to look at the terrain type which influences cost to dev the province, how many provinces border it, and I personally like to do this in provinces with valuable trade goods as well. That mixed in with any other cost to dev buffs will make it a lot cheaper to spawn innovations.
Speaking of spawing the Renaissance, I like how Origines handle the new Institution (or is it a Leviathan thing? I didn't play much with Leviathan XD), at least it's clear and stable ^^
Spawning institution by developing a province was introduced away before Leviathan
@@fachriyulfiansyah1927 I didn't speak about spawning the institution, but about the fact that no, instead of gradually tooking 1% of debuff to tech cost each year after the institution appeared in the world, it's a flat debuff on certain techs.
That way, when you play Incas and finally spawn Feudalism, you cna actually research some techs, instead of getting a 30% debuff from REnaissance XD
Im not sure but I think there are more rebels in the new patch 🤔
Could be tbh
As Ashikaga, unify Japan, and after that, annex provinces that start with the letters A, N, I, M, or E.
Hello! I am here to congratulate the correct tier II government reform decision. I am very proud of you. Keep up the good work, son.
Nobody says Mogadischu, say Mog or the Mog.
ashikaga's gonna get a lot of views im predicting
Good I love this series
19:20 'We have fully occupied the Mamluks, together with the Ottomans.'
Meahwhile, war participation:
Ottomans - 90%
Adal - 9% ;P
You can either make a good idea set or lots of land/dev as a custom nation
sieze land before sell titles? is it legit or for the memes?
I don't know yet lmao
👋 I have a question, there're 3 scores for great power: adm, mil and dip. I'm playing as France and I'm 1 rank in admin and mil, but only 27 in dip, how to become 1 rank as well
somlia today in a 6 WAY CIVIL WAR LETS GO
6:22 why are you talking to a province ?
Imagine the rebels he had to fight, can you imagine the rebels. My god, the rebels. Traumatized. Lol he mentioned it right after I typed out this comment.
Red Hawk Do you like playing tall or wide
Depends on the nation tbh
@@TheRedHawk oh ok and as Ashikaga can you 1. Form japan 2.conquer whole manchuria and 3. Form qing
No Internal Conflicts or bankruptcy? Idk if you really can call this run a success...
Sorry…
But... but... I am de captain now...
I love these videos! As ashikaga maybe control DC to fully beat the US.
Strengthen Noble Privileges compilation when :P
Soon… soon…
Wait why did you seize *then* sell titles? I'm genuinely confused
I didn't dev once, just a little joke
Oh, sick, love it
Why did the seize land/sell titles order change?
Bothering me that you can make those two colonies into trade companies lol are they in southern africa and the horn?
Ethiopia lost because they did not have love to keep them together :pensive:
I love that the tradition at this point is to succeed in Africa and flail around everywhere else lmao
the piracy map mode is great for this one
Jees, Adal is the new Prussia
There is a button to manage autonomous rebellions suppression
Are you playing phasmophobia when the ghost says "a doll"
I promote an Alodia episode where you go for Kushite Restoration.
raiding is 3 sea tiles away fyi
I love the thumbnail lol
Maybe for ashikaga, you can try to reach Japan's colonial peak?
Can you get 100 vassals as Ashikaga?
Legitimately forgot you could promote advisors...
The somali pirates barely even exist anymore irl
But what the hey
Pirate nations are my favourite anyway
You should conquer province of manga as Ashikaga
nice
Thanks!
You shouldve taken socotra, Hormuz, Ceylon and Zanzibar
By the time you get to Z, I'll be dead
Sure the AI is better at fighting you... but does that mean your allies will be smarter in wars too?
You need to have some A country form a Z country
love will keep us together
16:21 You have no idea how this one state is infuriating me.
You forgot the island off the coast
I played it as Ajuuran and I felt unstopable. You also did not need to colonize those areas, only take land that has Somali culture
New patch means that you get those two colonies for free when you form Somalia. It's nice. Similar to Ethiopia, Songhai and Mali, who get to colonize their neighboring empty lands for free with missions.
Jack sparrow in eu4?
Do something different as Ashikaga: Gain the Mandate of Heaven
How to form Somalia in EU4
Step 1: Somali the DLC
Yes Adal does cause problems I'm subbed to Chewshoot who got fucked by Adal who's Ally was Malmuks but he murdered Adal next episode
